Most of us love seasonal fruits and vegetables. One of the things we have always enjoyed in the summertime is melons. I don't have the room to grow them in my little bitty garden, so I try to watch for sales or farmers, etc. bringing a wagonload of melons in to sell in an empty lot, etc. Those are almost always good melons. I noticed a melon truck parked in an empty lot on one of our main streets. I couldn't stop, but I tucked the information in my head to try to remember to check that location again soon. I didn't have to wait long... There is a community facebook page here, like there is practically everywhere--people go there to voice news, to vent about whatever, it's gossip and news all jumbled up. However at times, they promote local vendors and such. I typed ''watermelon'' in the search bar on the page. The truck I noticed had really small watermelons, what some people refer to as personal watermelons, along with more that were the larger round ones. The tiny melons were $12. The bigger melons are $19. I am not making that up. That is simply ridiculous. Yes, I know food is expensive, but this is wild. I will look at Aldi when I go that way tomorrow.
