When someone begs you for something and won't stop, what do you do?

Oh, boy.
I realize that there are people out there in crazy wild physical pain. I get that, been there, I live with pain every day. Many of us do. I am not crazy about taking pain pills. Of course, there are times when a person has to or they can't function or even think--I think most of us have reached that point in our lifetime. But don't ask me to do something illegal and then use the line ''everyone does it, I will pay you whatever, I have to have pain pills!!''
First of all, if you sell or give away pain medications, you can be charged with a felony. It's also illegal to take drugs that were not prescribed to you. It's considered drug trafficking. I have no desire to do this, none.
A young woman that went to school with my two sons knows my son has been very ill. She isn't a bad person, has had a somewhat tumultuous life and a lot of husbands, but I'm not judging her on that. She has a gazillion health problems, is waiting on surgeries and has basically been sick for years now. She is dramatic, and that's an understatement.
Out of the blue, she messaged and called me and is still sending messages. She offered me $500 to give her pain pills. Um, no. A big, big no. I told her we didn't have any here (true) and we don't, other than OTC stuff. Son has injections for pain as he fights such terrible nausea at times from taking pills. I wouldn't sell medication! She could go to jail, I could go to jail..son could go to jail, too, if we had any and we sold them or gave them away. Do I think she is sick and in pain? Yes, definitely. But I cannot help her with that. She says the ER has labeled her a drug seeker and they will only give her a pill or two and send her home. How sad.
When a person reaches the point of begging pills from others, it's gone too far. Putting someone in that spot isn't kind, and it isn't legal either to do this. Then they get mad because you can't produce what they want or think they need. Maybe they do need it, I get it, pain is terrible. But putting someone in this position is just wrong.
Do I feel sorry for her? Yes. Pain can rule your life, I get that. This young woman needs big time help, I hope she gets it. But we cannot help her.

I think it seems she is on a huge downward spiral. She mentioned she couldn't go to this place or that for help. When I asked why, she said she no longer has a car. Now this girl always had a car--always a nice, very new car or SUV. She spends money like water, always has the best of everything with her clothing, home stuff, all of it...and now it appears she is losing her grip on this. She is selling Coach purses, elite brands of clothing, etc. I fear the crash is imminent. She has always been beautiful and smart. She's still pretty...but the smarts have evidently disappeared. So sad.

Pain or no pain, she definitely falls into the addict description. I want no part of that at all, ever.

@MarieCoyle I think so too! She sounds too desperate to not be in that category. I don't blame you.

I've never done anything like what she suggested, and I never will. I think the only reason she asked me is because she knows my sons from school and she knows my son here has been ill.

I wasn’t even tempted. She went to four different ER’s in 24 hours, or so she said.

I feel sorry for those who are so much in pain to need to ask pills to the others. They should ask a doctor and not put the others in an embarrassing situation. I know you would be in trouble giving medications and later knowing they are having a problem because of them.

@MarieCoyle - Exactly, it is illegal, people with that kind of pain must see a doctors because only a doctor can prescribe strong medications.

I realize she has a lot of pain. But we cannot help her. Even if we had what she wanted, we still would not sell or give medicine to her. It’s illegal anyway. But she doesn’t seem to understand that.
