I live in very close proximity to 3 bodies of water. One is a very large lake a few blocks away. The other two are right behind my home, one is a lot smaller and should be termed as a pond, but the people here call it the ''little lake.'' The other is very large. Of course we have tons and tons of Canadian geese. They are a protected species here, and they roam freely. They also eat a lot of bugs, which is more than fine with me. I wish they would eat ALL the mosquitoes! This year many of them (and there are literally hundreds and hundreds of them here at times) have decided it's more fun to play in the street drains or the manhole covers than it is to glide around in one of the lakes. Unfortunately for us, this often means they are in the middle of the road, and they just don't want to move. They sit there in their tiny puddle and let us navigate around them. I go slowly, but I can't help but be nervous one will hop in front of a tire and become roadkill. Who knows their logic in this? None of us can figure it out. The lakes were good enough for years, and now the street puddles are the place to be! **Not the best picture, I took it from inside my car.
