Something almost funny happened a little while ago. (Pretty thought is was funny, even if I didn't/couldn't laugh about it.)
I finished making turkey tetrazzini for our supper tonight but when I tried to tell her it was done, I couldn't remember Pretty's real name.
I finally resorted to just saying "Hey, you! Are you ready to eat yet?" She came into the kitchen giggling and asked why I'd called her like that and then giggled more when I explained that I couldn't remember her name...
She asked me questions like where we lived and my phone number (which I couldn't remember either) so eh could write that in the notes she's keeping for the neurologist...

Just now
That must have been an unsettling moment, especially when your phone number wouldn’t come to you either. Keeping a record of these moments sounds useful, as small details can easily be forgotten later. I hope you were able to settle down and enjoy your supper afterwards. How did the turkey tetrazzini turn out?

I guess there are those awkward moments when, as we age, our memory starts to falter. I hope it doesn’t happen often, because if it did, it wouldn’t be funny anymore. These days, I sometimes remember faces but need a moment to recall their names. I’m not too worried yet, since it happens rarely for now. Still, there are times I worry about my forgetfulness, but I know it’s just part of the aging process we all go through.
