I manged to get a 2 and a half hour nap this morning after staying up all night long. I only got up because I was determined to make my normal Friday flea market restock run.
We had our auction pickup yesterday in the Jackson, MS area. We were running late with hubby sleeping the day away and getting up at 1 pm, but we made it around 4:15 and got everything packed before they locked the doors at 5 pm.
We then went to one of the pawn shops there that we like --it is where he bought a guitar and I put a ring on layaway. They move a lot of merchandise there and they had a lot of people in the store when we got there. They had a good bit of new inventory in jewelry. I was just looking, but not in the market for any more new/old pieces.
Hubby also did not find anything so we headed to the Chinese Buffet down the road.
This was a bit disappointing also. I guess we just need to drive to Louisiana and go to the one I used to get take out at on my way home from the boutique a couple of years ago.
The photo above is of one of the plates. I didn't eat much at all as it was all mostly bland and had no taste. The egg rolls were pretty good though and the wontons. The rest they can keep. I found that they fried the wontons and egg rolls for a bit too long and edges were all very hard and made my mouth sore. The beef and broccoli was a bit different and the first time I have had it without onions in the mix. It was a bit off without the standard onion. Fried rice just did not look appealing at all and I didn't even try it. There was no sweet and sour chicken on the buffet, but other chicken options. Of all the hot food, I think my favorite was the mushrooms. They were perfect. I did have a nice bowl of ice cream for dessert, so not a total waste!
Do you like Chinese food?

It was passable, but not on the spot delicious!! We have yet to find a really good Chinese place in Mississippi!!
I used to pick up takeout once a week in Louisiana when I worked at the boutique there. That is about all I miss from working there..haha!

I like Chinese food, but that is Americanized Chinese food, which is not the same.

Very true. I was lucky enough to get to know several Chinese visiting scientists from working at LSU and we often got together after work and on weekends. Loved getting to try different things when we visited their home. I guess that is why I am so picky with Chinese food!

Our local cuisine is very much influenced by the Chinese. I love egg rolls! I had them while vacationing in San Jose, CA. They're pretty much similar to the shanghai rolls that we have here, except that we normally add cilantro to ours. We had store-bought shanghai rolls the other night for dinner. I can have Chinese food any day.
