I use personal computer at home for entertainment and stuff like this. But I don't have a cell phone. Do you think I am crazy? Yesterday, I almost hit this man with my car who was hidden from my view by another car. He was walking in the middle of the road with his nose stuck in his phone. Thankfully I was not going too fast so was able to avoid a catastrophe. I don't think he even noticed.

My mother is in het late 80's and has used tech for years.

People in their 60s here must use technology, especially the smartphone. To get their senior citizen benefits, they must have an e-wallet. To be in the system they must have an email address.

I am not surprised, I am 75 and I started to use my first computer 54 years ago, I have the habit.

Uhm... Did you realize that women are 60% more likely to live beyond 80 years old than men? And yes, I knew that. When I was selling smartphones and computers, it was much more likely for older women to ask me to show them how to work a smartphone than it was for an older man to ask me. (Older men preferred to use flip phones than smartphones.)

I'm struggling with a computer that may be dying, and frustrated with low storage on my phone. I may have to make some upgrades soon.

It’s great to see that many people can adapt to the technology we’re used to using. However, being tech-savvy in the senior years can often be challenging, as it may take longer for them to catch on. Around here, most seniors in their 80s aren’t very tech-savvy anymore, as they refuse to carry cell phones and don’t appreciate how these devices can help them stay connected to their loved ones.

A lot of those phones aren’t smartphones though. We have some older Mylotters who still use regular cell phones. I am concerned there is a large population of older people (I don’t consider 60 old so I’m referencing older) who are being left behind. You’re right that most are adapting. But I’m concerned about the few who are barely squeaking by.

Yes, that's true.

The last sentence is nice to read. It is a world wide trend with women getting educated in technology that will benefit society more in IMHO. I try to keep up with technology so that I do not have to depend on others for the basics.

I'm not surprised at all. Technology has become such a normal part of everyday life that age really doesn't have much to do with it anymore. I'm over 60 myself and use my laptop and phone every day, especially for my work, writing, communication and managing things online. In fact, I think many older people have adapted extremely well because we've actually lived through the huge change from doing almost everything offline to having so much available at our fingertips. There's always something new to learn, but that's part of the fun too!

Yes, I was aware but unfortunately here not so much. Many older people here do use cell phones but have no clue how to use a computer. I use computers but can't see the tiny print on my cell phone so I don't really try to use it except for taking pictures or creating videos.

I have a desktop computer. Never had a laptop.

I thought that men and women of college age use technology compared to people over 60 years of age.

They are making to where you have to learn technology because everything is becoming digitalized.
