What Kind of Sugar Do You Use?

I went to put sugar on my grocery list and Splenda came up. It is advertised as 600x sweeter than sugar and calorie free. It seems that Splenda was approved by the FDA back in 1998 but since then research has raised questions. Sucralise (Splenda) may pose health risks because newer studies link it to gut inflammation, blood sugar changes, and potential cellular damage. Flies fed with sucralose exhibited chronic sweet imbalance, leading to hyperactivity, insomnia, and glucose imbalance. I think I will be sticking with regular cane sugar. What are your thoughts?

We have three sugars at home. Refined sugar cane, washed sugar, and the brown sugar. But I hardly use sugar in any of my drinks. I drink green tea with no sugar or honey in it.

I like to sweeten things with honey as much as possible, but if “sugar sugar” is needed, cane sugar is best unless one is diabetic. Diabetics have other concerns.

I always use cane sugar, but the measurements have to be exactly right.

I think moderation is the key either way. I would rather use a small amount of regular sugar than rely heavily on artificial sweeteners.

Pretty bought some fake sugar to use a couple of years ago. I tried it and it had a funny aftertaste so didn't use it again. On the rare occasions that I need sugar for something I use cane sugar. (In cereal or in cooking.)

Vince finds all the sugar substitutes have funny aftertastes.

I used brown sugar. I don't like the aftertaste of the alternative sweeteners

It's hard to know what's best when a person needs to cut back on sugar.

Better to be safe than sorry dealing products that can cause illnesses.

Oh no, that is not good to hear. I do like my splenda when I have unsweetened tea, or if I were to make a coffee at home, that's all I really use it for. But that is not good it could cause that kind of stuff.
