The Date is Set

The date for my knee surgery has been set. Originally it was 9/11 which made me a little uneasy. It was scheduled at their surgery center. When they called with the information I asked if my insurance covers the surgery center. No it didn't, good thing I asked. We had to schedule it at the hospital. The date now is 9/28. I had to have a CT scan of my leg, then I had to drive the 30 miles to the hospital for two meetings. One to familiarize me with the procedure and then a physical exam with an EKG. The APRN heard a murmur in my heart which I have never had before. They told me I needed to see a cardiologist to be approved for surgery. I requested an appointment close to my home. When I checked MYChart they had made it in the far away town the next day at 4 pm. I live on a different side of the river from that city. The bridge at 4 will be bad, after the appointment at 5 it will be worse. I canceled the appointment. They called me the next morning asking why I canceled the appointment. I told them they had said they would call me about the appointment and I would never have approved that one. The sounded exasperated, it was very hard to get an appointment there was nothing else until October. Then we will delay the surgery I said. Funny how that works, that was Wednesday I go a call on Thursday from the office near me could I come in Friday at 3, yes I could. I did and the cardiologist heard the sound and told me I needed an echo cardiogram. He thought on had stenosis of the aortic valve. They scheduled me for 9/25 in that office but I went on a wait list. I got a call on Monday, could I go to the far town on Wednesday I had a choice of time. I said one pm. If you have ever had an echo cardiogram you understand that it is not particularly comfortable. On the way home I got a call from the cardiologist, my heart is good, I have tight valves and they make that noise. To say a huge weight was lifted off my shoulder would be a massive understatement. I now have top go to the far town this Thursday for a full leg x-ray, 10 am so a choice I was happy with. I have to eat more protein which is killing, me lol. 90 mgs a day which is way more than I normally eat, I hate it but my Dr wants before and after surgery to help with the healing,. This is way more complicated than I could ever have imagined. So now I have 2 weeks and I am still anxious but determined. I have ordered and paid for the ice machine to help deal with swelling and pain and scheduled physical therapy. Other than this there is the normal things that go on in our household. Kasey bought a new used car. It is a 2024 CRV, very nice car. It is a hybrid. Dogs are all good, Kasey and I went away for a shopping weekend. It was fun, I had a free hotel night that had to be used and lots of TJMaxx Rewards. We visited 6 TJs and a Sierra as well as a very nice country gift store. It was fun and relaxing. That's all from me on this very rainy Sunday evening. We had thunderstorms earlier today. I bought those three coasters at the country store we visited. $3 each!!
