I’m So Relieved

I had a migraine late last night, and I took my last migraine pill. I don’t have any refills, and it’s a few more days before I can ask my doctor to call one in. Thankfully, and I’m not sure how it is everywhere, but when it comes to a lot of medications you can ask for an emergency fill from the pharmacy. I can tell my pharmacy I need more of my prescription, and they’ll put three migraine pills in a box (these come in a small box), and give them to me. They will do that with diabetic medication, antidepressants, blood pressure meds…it’s nice to know if your doctor is slow, the pharmacy will help you. They don’t do that with pain medication (like narcotics), of course, but that’s understandable.
So, feeling another migraine this afternoon, I thought I’d have to ask for an emergency order, and that I’d have to ask my dad to get it. I knew that would annoy him, so I kept looking and looking. And aha! I found a half of one on my bookshelf! Yay!

That is great that they will do that with prescriptions, never heard of that! But that is great you found some.

@AmbiePam It is the best, especially when you are low in funds. Oh nice, that is always a fun surprise! lol. Sadly that has not happened to me in a long time haha

@AmbiePam I still think they should give me more than one a day for the month. Because that seems a little rediculous for someone who has sooo many tummy issues.

The VA is very good with that. I went to the pharmacy help desk at the hospital and told them I needed this and that, and they sent a note to my doctor AND gave me a week’s worth of the meds to tie me over. When you’ve been on a medication for a long time that’s pretty easy to have done. Hope your doctor is quick about things.

My med case..I wanted to take it when I went to Chicago and at first I couldn't find it. It had gotten knocked off a shelf and was down below.

You must have a severe migraine. I do get migraines once in awhile but no meds for me. I'm allergic to most of them.

I ever got migraine few years ago. It was the first attack. I Saw the world was spinning. Finally i went to nearest hospital and spent there a day

Ha, finding a stray half pill on the shelf is a small win but it feels huge when you need it. Good to know about the emergency fill too, I never knew pharmacies did that. Last thing I got excited about was finding a twenty dollar bill in an old jacket, made my whole day.

Just having that medication must be a relief that could potentially prevent you from taking another migraine.
I hope that it provides you the peace of mind that you need so that you can relax and get back to being Amber.
My pharmacist does the very same thing. My pharmacist actually went out of our area to get me one of meds that was not available in this area due to a shortage. That spoke volumes to me about his professionalism.
