Now that you’re older, what hurts worse?

I once asked my dad if he remembered the day when absolutely nothing hurt. He did, which surprised me because I don’t. I’m blessed though because so many Mylotters have mentioned knee problems, and I’ve never had any pain in my knees. My back and neck are my problems. So, I was wondering as you get older, what is it that hurts worse?

@ambiepam Teeth have always been my problem. I remember once a dentist calling at our house in Malawi to relieve me of what I now know was an abscess. He had no equipment with him so my dad and I drove 350 miles to his house to pick it up. We had no electricity so he connected the drill to my mother’s treadle sewing machine and my father worked the treadle while Jack drilled. Pain is no fun.

I can never tell when you’re pulling my leg, but I’m going to assume this really happened. In which case, ow!

@xFiacre OK, now I know for sure you’re kidding. That, at least settles it.

Honestly nothing hurts me yet, so I cant really complain. I know that sounds lucky but I try to stay moving as much as I can. Maybe that helps, or maybe I just got good genes from my parents.

My dad got pretty good genes, but unfortunately, he got several sports injuries when he was young which developed into arthritis when he got older. He tore the ACL in his right knee twice, and in his left knee twice. Still yet, he’s always on the move, which bodes well for his mobility as he ages. Even though he had to have knee replacement surgery.

@AmbiePam Four ACL tears is rough, your dad is tougher than most people. Staying active after the knee replacement is the best thing he can do, it really does help in the long run. Sounds like he's doing great, hope he keeps moving for many more years.

Nothing, so I think I have the Peter Pan gene. Haven't had a headache in ages; when my right knee caused me trouble it righted itself, and I don't remember when I was last sick with anything like the flu. If I was sure I could hold up, I would put on a favorite rock and roll song and dance around the apartment, but then the guys downstairs would call the men with the butterfly nets

Not being around any germs I’m sure helps keep the doctor away.

I could list physical aches never dealt with before. That's reality of aging. The worst pain is mental, the knowledge the sands in the hourglass are running out and looking around at an awful world.

The Mister suffers with pains in his knees. My arm still twinges , and I sometimes have sciatica….thats no fun ! But, as I’m now as old as the hills, I guess I have to expect it ! I’m just hoping nothing is actually going to drop off !
