My Monday.

It is pouring again (They are talking about the El Niño current) so I´ll talk about yesterday. Yesterday I went to see two Senior Houses with my brother. I had first selected them online and by phone, deleting the ones that offered only hotel facilities but no medical ones should I need some in the future. And I also decided against some that mixed in the same place people who are well with people who have serious mental problems. I´m aware that, as we age, we have more motricity problems. But I don´t like to see everday people that are staring at the ceiling while an aide gives them a spoon of soup. I don´t feel that it is mean, it just depresses me. I found finally the most expensive one (it used to happen to me when I chose a bag). it was the first of several in my city that belong to the same chain. But this one is the first they built and then it was in the outskirts of town so it is a beautiful buiding with bigger places and good common spaces (movies, library, beauty shop and cafeteria). But the best are the most beautiful gardens! The other we went to belonged to the same chain but it had smaller rooms and a mini garden. And on talking later with my brother, we saw that the people in good conditions were in the same floor as the people with terminal Alzeimers, for instance. So, going out of the room for a stroll, it looked like I was living in a hospital. I do not want to end my days like that. In the small apartment they have available, I can have my dining room table. That could serve as a place to make puzzles and to invite friends as I do now. When I came home, Martín had called me to tell me that he was trying to sell my living room furniture. I hope he does.

It does. My brother asked me twice if I could afford it instead of offering to help shoulld I need it (although he can). But I have done my math. Renting a house and paying for help 24/7 is more expensive than this.

Choosing where to live later is a big step, and it sounds like you did your homework. The gardens and common spaces sound lovely, and I understand why the hospital feeling bothered you in the other one. Keeping your dining table for puzzles and friends is a nice touch, it will feel like home.

It rains also here, but we really needed that rain. I hope you have found a place where you would like to stay. I know it's not like having an individual home, but at least you are not alone.

The best place there is here is very beautiful. I have liberty but also have people around should I need it. And later on, for a small aditional amount, I can have my own aide to help me out.

I hope you find the perfect place and I can understand how depressing it could be to be a hospital atmosphere. I hope you can keep your dining room table for your puzzles and company and that Martin can sell your living room furniture. Good luck with the apartment hunting,

It must be very difficult to find a new place to live that will have all the facilities you'd like.

i hope Martin will successfully sell your furniture and as for this you wrote, i think the same as you. you have a right to get what you want and i also feel mentally sick people shouldn't mix with people who don't have that issues;that's strange. good luck!

I hope you can find what you want. I know how hard it is to find a decent rental. Glad your brother took you to see the places.
