I wish I had gotten friend's prescription!

So, I mentioned that friend's doctor had wanted to see him after he got his blood work done. I thought she would probably give him a dire warning or something. However, apparently his blood work wasn't really that bad, but she gave him..not really a prescription, but an admonition to drink and eat more! Apparently his kidney function was not great. She said that she will monitor it though. I hope he can handle that. He eats like a child. Last time he was here we were having Marie Callendar chicken pot pies. He ate the inside, but not the crust! Say what? That is the best part!

Eating the inside and leaving the crust is just criminal, that crust is the best part... glad his blood work wasnt as bad as you feared, hope the monitoring goes smooth, imo.

He should be sipping water and gatorade Actually maybe not so much Gatorade..as he prefers the sugar free variety and that might not be good for his kidneys.

I hope he can force himself to eat a little more. Drinking water is important for the kidneys.

Yes, he drinks too many of those artificially sweetened drinks. I have told him multiple times..he should be drinking plain water.

I would be all in favor of that kind of prescription.

He does have poor eating habits. I hope that he can get some dietary counselling.

I am not sure his insurance would cover that, but it is worth looking into. I never thought of that really. He eats a lot of salmon which is good for you...but doesn't have a lot of calories in.

I definitely do. He eats a lot of white foods. like plain meat and potatoes and such, instead of eating the rainbow as he should.

The crust is always the best part of a pot pie, you’re right! I hope he’ll make some changes, but it sounds like he’s not the kind that makes changes easily.

You're right about those pot pies....the crust is the best part. Hope he starts to eat more. Good though that his blood work wasn't bad.,

Years ago a woman guest ate the fruit filling and not the crust of a pie slice. I gave the crust to the pups. I make the crusts from scratch. Yes, I was a bit irritated. If you don't want something, just tell me!

If he has pizza he won't eat the back part of the crust. Won't eat most of the bread of a hot dog bun etc..

I am sorry he feels so poorly. I hope he can eat or drink more—does he have any favorites you can tempt him with?

I don't see him that often. He is diabetic, and seems to have problems digesting certain foods. I guess something like sugar free apple pie he would be into.
