Do you adapt well to mylot changes?

This question is particularly for those who have come to rely on the mylot email notifications. With the notifications down for as long as they have been, have you found that you have mylotted less or do you think that you have adapted easily to posting and answering discussions without the aide of notifications in your email? I know I personally, have hardly done a thing on the site today. I have a hard time maneuvering around, so for me having the notifications helps me to keep things organized and to know where I left off. How well do you adapt to changes here at mylot?

I do not get the notifications, but I get the digests and when I go to my myLot email which is after I write on my novel, and practice my Spanish and Italian, have breakfast, and do some housework, it is afternoon, and by that time, the discussions that have violated myLot guidelines have already been deleted. Now I have to wonder if the discussion I am answering is going to get the ax as it were. I have always had bad luck with notifications especially when I got on one of those controversial subjects and felt picked on.

It really irks me when I see a discussion on the mylot digest that I get in my email and say, "I could really sink my teeth into that one," and find that it has been deleted because it violated guidelines. Almost as bad if someone decided to write his money making website plus his id number in a response.

I better knock on wood before I even reply to this. I have not had any discussions deleted. I guess I've been lucky so far. I'm sorry if you are having to go through that. I still don't know what they decide is ok and what is not, but I guess I must be staying within the guidelines. Hope things get better for you.

I fail to see why there are a lot of members who are not receiving e-mail notifications, and also, are not able to post responses to discussions. Mine are fine and have been all along, so goodness knows what happened there! Mylot don't normally take so long to sort things out, either. I wonder what the problem is? Sorry to hear that you and so many others are experiencing these problems, my friend. I hope they get you sorted soon. Brightest Blessings.

I am getting them as of this morning, but it was almost 2 whole days without them, or at least it seemed like that long. I'm overjoyed that they are back.

Oh, that's good. Yes, I can imagine you must have missed them. I can't understand why I didn't lose mine, though. Strange, that!

I don't use half of the things mylot has and especially the notifications. I didn't have any of them turned off from the start. As for any other changes I find them easy to adapt to.

There are actually alot of features on mylot that I have yet to use and many that I was totally unaware of. I just learned yesterday that there was the option of adding a mylot toolbar. Who would have thought?

Don't feel bad. I thought the same thing. The only problem is now that they are back, I can't think of anything to post. Figures. LOL.

I found no problem with the problem on notifications since I do not rely on them as I make a post or reply to the post of friends and others. I usually sign in directly to myLot and read and reply to the discussions from there. Usually, as i read my email, I just read the notifications but don't open myLot from there.

I just worked around the lack of notifications. Once I read that they weren't working, I went to my own page and saw all the discussions I started and began checking on them, taking care of my people that replied. Then I went to the replies I'd made to see if I got comments. It was a little inconvenient but certainly not a disaster. I haven't learned all the bells and whistles here yet, someone mentioned italics and such and I haven't seen any way to do those. I do wish they had emoticons here so that when I'm being sarcastic or joking I could use one--cos you know there's always someone who'll take it the wrong way if you're trying to be funny! ;-)

They do have emoticons now. If you look on the left side of your response box there is a feature highlighted in blue called mylot code. That will give you the emoticons you are looking for.

I have notifications turned off anyway so it doesn't affect me when it's not working properly. I have an entirely random approach to myLotting - I just log in and then wander round, stopping to read or respond to anything that catches my attention/interest. As for changes in general I don't mind them, all the ones made so far on here have been good.

I don't know how you do it. I'm lost without the notifications, but I agree all the changes they have made here on this site have been for the better.

I hate change! It takes me ages to get used to something then I start to accept it, then suddenly another change comes along and throws me totally out of sync. I am reluctant to change, it was a change in my jobs in the past that had caused me soo much upset, I even left because things changed with the computer system at work! Drastic I know but I am a creature of habit. I felt like Mylot was the Marie Celeste yesterday and I was blind without the notifications I had to leave Mylot alone totally until normal service had resumed.

You have my sympathies. I think I posted so much less than I ever have here on this site and naturally my earnings were at an all time low, but now that the notifications are back up, now I'm running around trying to get them all answered, but taking pleasure in doing so.

Well good luck with that, because when I woke up this morning I had 500 email notifications. I was glad to see them, but I have to admit thats a little overwhelming.

I did stay away from myLot. These days I mostly only answer questions through notification email. No email... no answer... I cannot be bother searching mylot to find a question to answer. Too much hard work. I used to do that at the beginning when I had no friends.

Same here. I wasn't willing to go on a search either. The notifications really help me to keep things organized, otherwise its like running around chasing my tail.

In my opinion, I can get along with MyLot changes easily. I'm not really relying on e-mail notifications but it has been a part of my daily MyLot-ing. With notifications, however, I know my whole activity on MyLot and it makes me aware of what has been going around. Well, notifications, like you said, keeps things organized. I won't mess around with the discussions, looking if there are replies to my responses. Happy MyLot-ing! :)

So if I understand you correctly you don't answer many discussions, but prefer to post many of your own. We all have our own way of doing things.

Not well at all - well at least not with the notifications disappearing! i hate having to scramble around and go hunting for discussions I want to answer and also forget to look and see if anyone has answered my responses! Please, please, please admin if you are listening, give us back our notifications! xxxx

I'm with you. I thought I was going to go nuts yesterday without the notifications. I have found that while they were doing other updates my patience was better than I would have expected, but they really took a long time to get those notifications back.

I ignore them by and large. I do use the italics and bold feature but I loathe the face things, I call them measles because they break out like a rash across peoples' posts. I have seen something called Flyers. But I don't know what they are. E mail notifications are useful, or would be if myLot (or someone) hadn't switched them off this weekend! Happy days.

When I didn't have my notifications yesterday I was truly lost. I really have come to depend on using them. And I have seen mention of these flyers too, but have no idea what they are and so far have been too busy answering my notifications to have a poke around. No, I'm not focused. LOL.

I consider the notifications a lot of help. They give me ready topics to respond to since going around the site to find topics to participate in can be time consuming and like you said, it helps you to get on track from where you left off. As for the changes, so far, I am not using emoticons (smileys). I don't find them attractive in my posts.

I agree completely. I have used the emoticons, which is different for me. I've never cared for them, but find I'm using them more now that they have got them as an option here.

I'm a member since November 2006. Many things have changed since I joined myLot. At first, there were no stars, or blogs there was no search bar, no myLot code, no flyers, the payment was made by using a card from a virtual account called iKobo... But no matter how many new things appear on the site, the vast number of discussions and interests always give you something to do around here. I'd say I adapted just fine to myLot changes.

well, yes. i think i can adapt to any changes there is not only in mylot. i just hope that the changes done are beneficial to all. it would be very odd if most will be affected by some negative changes. i won't appreciate that.

I am adapting sorta as instead of no notifications I had a whole ton of them and was sorting and moving and finally just gave up on the other stuff and started to MyLott. I still have a lot of email to read through which is how addicted I have become to MyLot. I tried to answer as many responses as I could then became engrossed in reading different discussions and in answering any responses to my own discussions. then too my computer was off line for four hours today before I could get my son to trouble shoot for me. So am not caught up yet.
