Did life turn out as you planned?

we all make plans, some of our plans are long-term, others very short term. Now I ask, have your life plans been fulfilled, or not?

Hi, hope you are well, long time no see - well for me anyway! I guess some of my plans have been fulfilled, some have been put on hold, some are just a pipe dream I guess, In a way I wouldn't have wanted to fulfill most of them, not yet anyway as it would not give me a lot to look forward to, I guess some short term plans have been fulfilled and we make new ones in our heads each day I guess.. But for me, well I'm working on some and some will probably never be a reality.. Brightest Blessings

I made several life plans mostly short-term and few long-term but I'm not sure even my short-term is being fulfilled already. I'm so sad and now I'm making another plan. I think plans and hopes go together so I just have to keep on trying my luck, right? :) Cheers!

I don't think that I ever had any long term life plan - just take it as it comes. Having said that, I do make short term plans - up to one year or so. Longer than that I think that there are to many uncertainties to make it worth while to make anything more than very basic goal type planning though even that quite often gets changed when something unanticipated happens. The military dictum: "Few plans survive contact with the enemy." and the quote from Robert Burns, " The best laid plans of mice and men aft gang agley." seem to be relevant here.

I don't think anyone's plans ever really go exactly as planned. I'm not saying that dreams don't come true, I fully believe that they can and do. I'm just saying, I don't think they ever come true in exactly the way we thought they would, or planned them out to be. I myself have planned a great many things. I don't think any of them have gone exactly as I imagined/wanted at the time. But, I'm satisfied with the direction my life has taken, and many of my dreams actually have been fulfilled, just not precisely how I thought they would. And, I have others, like becoming a published author, that have not been fulfilled fully. And, hey, I've got short term plans even that haven't been fulfilled, like that darned doctors appointment, and the corresponding dental appointment, though those are entirely my fault.

No. when I was a teenager I wanted to be a movie star cause it seems so dashing and it will be very nice to become that popular and famous. But of course it never happen cause I dont had the face and talent :D Now my life plan is simple: just be healthy and happy for myself. Of course if I get rich it will be a bonus :D

AH! Right! LOL But then again I didn't really make plans so maybe it's what it should. I had an idea of how I wanted my life to be. I'm quite far from that right now, but I was really close for some time. I'm glad I didn't exactly have any rigid plans or else I would be a very disappointed and frustrated person :)

Well , I am still on the process of fullfilling my dreams. My life does not went on the way i planned it, but I think God planned it for myself. I learn the truth and the wrong and right. I learn to decide what will be for myself and i had known my true friends. I think God helps me a lot to run my life and I can make it through and surpass all the challenges with his blessings and mercy.

If I look back at my life, I can see that life turned out as I planned, but perhaps not as my ego had planned. When a crisis arose, I would feel stressed and disappointed, yet it always was like a crossroads where I was being led where my soul wanted, but not necessarily where I wanted to go! Through my Zen practice, I have learned acceptance and patience of what was happening in my life, and this, as I was told by a heart specialist 2 years ago in A & E, saved my life. By meditating on remaining calm and accepting of severe pain, I had prevented my heart from going into a major spasm when it was dealing with a blood clot. So my philosophy is, yes make plans and put everything in place, but accept whatever happens as it happens. :-)

I think very few of our lives turn out exactly as planned...mine certainly didn't...I had a lot of hopes, dreams, goals and aspirations I wanted to fulfill at least by a certain age....then some strange and bizarre detours and set backs crept into my life....ah, but being the cockeyed optimist that I basically am....theirs still hope...isn't there??

Well, I actually started taking life very seriously only after I felt it all ended. :) I dunno if this makes sense. Let me try to put it in different words: Many times, when you feel things are over, you realize that something new has begun. That is what happened to me. My big dream of marrying and becoming a Mom of four kids shattered, and I thought life was over, now I simply have to survive till I die. And then I started thinking, "ok fine, now what the hell shall I do till I die?" And that led me to make plans. I sat down and wrote it all in a book: make the garden greener and greener, keep pets, make lots of money, adopt kids, so on and so forth. And life started again. Strange, isn't it? My first goal, that is, make the garden greener and greener is slowly materializing. The garden is rewarding me everyday. I already have pets, something I never had before. Making money--I think I am on the way. :) So, yep, I think my life is finally under my control and all the plans I am making now will soon materialize. Cheers and happy mylotting

people make plans but it always changes, if you have a dream you need to work towards making then come to pass, but you will distractions that comes your way.

I wanted to be happily married with children and have a house of my own. Well it was going going good until Dec.2004. I lost my good paying job,my new truck,my new house, and my marriage was going down hill. We had to go back to renting and as you probably have read my marriage ended in a divorce. I'm still renting, lost another job but my ex-husband has returned. But we are not married. So no my life plans are not all I dreamed them to be.

My life did not turn out as I expected it to but I am very happy with my husband and my daughter. I am very lucky to be where I am today with all that I have been through in my life. I guess I really cannot complain but it is a daily struggle and alot of work just to survive anymore. We are still working so hard to fulfill our life plans. It is going, slowly but surely. I hope we do finally reach our life goals.
