Well it was another typical weekend as far as grocery shopping goes for the wife and I. Our daughter came over earkly Saturday morning. We needed a bunch of food so we went to Sams Club. This is a store where you need memebrship and they seel food in bulk sizes. Well my daughter always gets a lot of food for free when we do this shopping. She got a half of a bag of large orange ,a lot of Hot Dogs, hot dog buns, some Ritz Crackers, some Hershey Brownies mix, stuffing mix, and hamburger as well. Maybe more but I can't recall. We do this often as these things are bought in bulk there is always too much for just my wife, myself, and dad so we offer them to her or our son if he happens to be here. We still have plenty food along these lines as well because they are such large packages. We spent a total of around $90 and even giving her as much as we did we still got over or close to the same value in foods. Do you shop stores that sell in bulk? Do you share these bulk purchases with any family members at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

we have costco here, but it really isn't all that cheep, sometimes you find just as good or better at your regular store when it is on sale.

With just the two of us we also know when to hit the local stores for deals. You have to save any way you can.

We also had a membership at Costco a while back. But their prices soared and it was not really a bargain anymore so we had the owner of her restaraunt switch to Sams Club for that reason. Sams is a lot better as far as prices and products as well I fee. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I shop at Sam's Club all the time. I do share things with my kids too. If I buy a big box of something, I can't eat it all myself, so it's better to share. Sometimes my daughter will buy something to share with me too.

We almost always get those huge bags of cereal for the grandsons there as well. they love that and they also love the Poptarts. I still had some PopTarts left over so I gave her a boz of those as well. Our daughter has a membership but has yet to share with us her purchases. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Buying in bulk has some great ways of saving the pennies. Also having the capacity to store those items is needed to the size of all that bulk. Many years ago I used to bulk buy but not any more as circumstances have changed since then. Have a great life from Deeeky

Yes my partner has membership at a couple of places like that so we buy as much as we can in bulk especially things like washing powder, we dont tend to share it though but freeze it and use it when we need it, and the washing powder well with two children we go through plenty of that lol!

My wifes membership is a business membership for her restaraunt she works at so we do not even pay a membership. Her boss buys it each year for us. We get a lot of things there for the house. The most critical and best buy are the paper products like paper towels and toilet paper. A lot cheaper than a regular store etc. We shere the food mostly because my wife is here for breakfast only. so it's just dad and I 6 days a week for lunch and dinner. Some of these packages would get ruined before we got a chance to eat them actually. Like the meats and lunchmeats etc. Breads as well go bad too quickly for us. We find great deals each month at Menards on laundry soap that is cheaper than Sams prices as well so we get that at menards most times. We used to buy the huge 55 gallon barrel of soap from Sams years ago when we had the kids at home. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We had a membership with Sams Club and gave it up because we really couldn't buy enough to justify the membership. When I buy in bulk it is usually through a grocery store. I purchase what I will typically use within a certain time period. There are certain items that I have purchased and later given to my kids for their pantries.

I shop at Sam's Club from time to time, but freeze most of it. I do give stuff to my son from time to time. I also am a member of a group buying club and the savings are phenomenal. I give things to my son then, as well. At Christmas I deliberately bought things like Cocoa mix and summer sausages in bulk, so I could give it to my kids as part of their Christmas.

Years and years ago we belonged to a Co-Op membership for grocery shopping. Not a Co-Op store just a co-op for this purpose only. They'd make calls to members asking what they needed and 2 or 3 members were choosen each week to do the shopping for an even bigger discount for their services performed along these lines. I miss that as well. I just remembered that I forgot to give her half the Polish Kielbasa also. Oh well, MORE FOR ME! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sorry not me, as I do great at the grocery store with my coupons and the store doubles them. I'm headed to the store in a few minutes, as need lemonade. I make it myself when I'm out of coupons, but going to save $1.00.

That is one thing I miss here in Minnesota. very seldom do the grocery stores do the doubling of coupons. Maybe once or twice a year we see that here. but don't get me wrong, we shop the grocery stores as well for items we don't need in bulk and we do use coupons all the time there. Enjoy your trip and lemonade also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It is just me, so I do not do a lot of bulk shopping, unless I find a really good sale. I usually go to Smart & Final if I need something in bulk. Both of my sister's have seven in their household, so those type of memberships really pay off for them.

Yeah just for one you're okay with regular stores as you would end up with a lot of waste this way I think. That's a big family,7. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~.

I stay far away from Sam's club because if I don't, I end up spending way more than I should on food even thou it would last us several months. Shopping at Sam's to me is like maxing out a credit card and have a hard time paying it down to someone else. If I chose to buy something in bulk, I'll head to GFS which is right next to Aldi's here. I get our powdered milk, Hershey's syrup, and few other things there in bulk but that's it.

Bummer. I love shopping there as it saves us a lot of money in the log run actually. We shop Aldis for a lot of things also that we use a lot of. Some of their generics I do not like at all like their bread is too doughy to me. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I like going to Sam's Club. I do not have a membership to Sam's meyself, but my brother does. I am actually wanting to go there with him tomorrow before I head home and get a bunch of butter. I have been so busy making toffee lately I have gotten down to only 3 pounds left at home. I had 16 pounds earlier this month. I am sure I will get some other stuff while I am there as well.

My partner and I have discussed the benefits of shopping at our local Sam's Club especially when it comes to the stuff that we tend to use a lot. We've actually only done grocery sharing with our roommate from Sam's Club and that was for toilet paper. For our next school year we are definitely considering it though because it would be worth it to buy a lot of our items in bulk.

Hello dear Grandpa Bob. I am very happy that you have another nice, but busy shopping weekend with your wife. I seldom shop stores that sell in bulk. I usually shop in the local big supermarkets.

Your house sounds like mine, yes I shop at Sam's, and also any other discount place I can find. We have 5 children at home, and 5 grown children, 9 grands, so we are forever trying to find bargains for our family here and to help out our other children as well when we can. I am a spend thrift who looks for bargains, and I never pay full price for anything. My family benefit's from what I do, and I hope I am setting a good example for all my children.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Wow, that is really value for money. However, in my case I really don't buy in bulk because of the high prices in commodities here in our country. Even if I buy in bulk the discount is not much. But if ever there will be a chance that I will buy in bulk, I will surely share them to family members too as it will be too much for just me and my husband. Just my thoughts dear friend! Take care and have a nice day!

when my hubby was alive we used to go to this grocery warehouse where everything is sold in bulk for ever so much cheaper than in the ordinary grocery stores and even for two adults and two small kids our grocery bill was just a fourth of what it would have been in an ordinary super market. My one problem in going there was these stupid panic attacks I would get. I wouldbe picking out fruits and veggies and sacking them and all of a sudden the zillion people in there seemed to be coming at me and they were knocking fruits and veggies off the shelves and stepping on them. I would freeze as I just could not breathe then my husband would find me and lead me over to the side where they had tables and chairs and a luncheonette.he made me sit down and drink some coffee while he got sodas and sandwiches for us. then he would just talk to me and soon I was again breathing normally. then I would feel so stupid for having got so upset. I got so I could prevent these attacks and then later I never had another one in my life. but the good thing was the quality of the food and the great prices.at that time with two kids just ten months apart money was pretty scarce.
