Tonight, while the roomie was cooking our steaks, we were also working on our salads. I was putting some cheese in mine when suddenly I was being punctured by nails!I looked down and was saying ow ow. the roomie thought one of the kittens was climbing me and to take her off. I told her that it wasn't a kitten, it was STAR!Star is very motivated by food, but otherwise our most feral cat.

Did you give Star some cheese? I hope you did not get two many holes in you. I hope you did not leak all over the floor. Star is sure a pretty girl.

I wish I could've, but it was grated parmasan! No, she really didn't sink her nails in, just kind of caught the skin under the jeans enough to get my attention. The term I really need to use starts with a "p" and ends with a "ricked" but mylot doesn't allow it.

Ouch! Our cats used to do that to, especially if they were playing tag and needed somewhere to hide! lol. UP the legs they go, and through the roof with me! lol.

She's a sweet little cat, just so afraid. I wish she wasn't so afraid, because she is such a beauty, but she's in our house and she's safe, so what more can we want?

Ouch.... Elic I use to have a cat that would take a swipe at you while you were preparing food. He was trying to know the piece of food out of your hand . Many times he nailed flesh let me tell you.

Star was just begging, she just isn't used to being close to humans and doesn't know how bad those claws hurt unfurred flesh.

Banjo uses my legs as a scratching post if he wants more food or to go outside. Or else he walks all over my keyboard. It's a simple form of communication for them.

A tame cat it isn't unknown to get in your face, but Star is anything but tame. She is very food modivated tho.

My cat use to nip my arm when he was hungry but I think that he has gottne over that nasty habit. He does do some fairly obnoxious meowing however, Sometimes I wish that I had earplugs.

I've got a few noisy cats, but they all know I don't hand out treats. Fact is that Star is the ONLY cat I give treats to. the roomie is more generous with treats and gets plagued by the cats a lot more than I do.

Wow a full sized cat with claws can really hurt, probably she was wanting a partof whatever you were eating but that was a hard way to get it. hope you really cleaned the wound well. cat scratch fever can be dangerous. good luck.

Yeah, she wanted what I was fixing, until she smelled the lettace leaf! She didn't really break the skin more than a tiny bit - because I had on jeans, none the less, she doesn't have cat scratch fever, she's been inside, except for 2 escapes, since she was 8 weeks old. Even my strictly outside cat doesn't have it - because that's the one that chewed up my finger back in March.

Isn't amazing how food can make a cat overcome any fears or inhibitions about being shy?! Hope your leg is okay. I know how much that can hurt!

She just pricked me, she wasn't trying to hurt me. Not like last March when I was "perferated" by Mitten.

We cooked out yesterday. My daughters boyfriend came over and he bought some steaks to throw on the grill for all of us to eat. It sounds like your cat was hungry LOL. I think I would have swatted her off of the counter or table without thinking if the cat had done that to me without even thinking. Did the cat do it on purpose?

She didn't stick me intentionally, its just that her nails are long and untrimmed. I don't trim her nails, I'm attached to my skin! I wouldn't slap her down first because I was so surprised she was doing it, and secondly because any time she comes to US, I'm happy.

lol Sorry for finding humor in this Elic, but for having a feral cat being so motivated by food strikes me funny. I hope Star didn't seriously hurt you. Just wanted a taste is all. Tigger, my feral cat, learned that nails punturing skin is a huge no-no and gets him just the opposite of what he so desires.

She is a funny girl. Such a beauty and such a scared baby. She learned from Hobo that she could beg tidbits from us, and she smelled the steak cooking and we were sitting at the "food place." Honestly, the only cat I give tidbits to is Star, but the roomie hands out treats all the time, even tho I'd rather she didn't.

Oh the joys of feral type cats. When I used to have a lot more kitties some were very feral like...and I had my nice share of puncture wounds from nice sharp claws as well when trying to grab at them

Yeah, she's only had her nails trimmed twice - both by the VET! Of course she's a perfect, if petrified, angel at the vets! I just looked at her surprised and she looked at me with a "I smell it, hand it over!" look.

Years ago, when I first got my own cats I thought it was fun to teach the kittens to run up my leg for a cuddle. Of course, little light kittens who's claws don't hurt very much turn into great big cats who's claws hurt quite allot! If I'd been able to teach them to only do it when I'd been wearing jeans I'd have been happy, but I had noone to blame but myself and it's not a mistake I repeated!

When the Cat had her litter of kittens, one of them crawled up the INSIDE of my jeans, got to my knee and tried to turn around! Talk about jumping up suddenly! I already kind of knew that legs and cats were a bad idea, and the roomie has lots of scratches on her legs from Oliver as a kitten trying to get up her bare legs! These new kittens are fantastic jumpers, but Oliver was a lousy one, still isn't the best, but now we can blame it on being a bit on the tubby side! Oliver is also kind of long and low shaped, not a Munchkin but not quite as tall as some of the other cats.

Yikes! That would be terrible. I think someone needs to get declawed. Hope you are OK

Oh, I don't hold with declawing and as it is she is so picked on by some of the other cats she needs her defenses. I really just got tiny tips thru the jeans, I was more excited than upset!

Maybe I should rethink getting a kitten...lol. Star is very cute. I had a cat like that once, but she would not come near people. She hid from them. That's a hard habit to break cats of, especially feral ones. Maybe keep a squirt bottle of water at hand and spray the cat when it does that.

Honestly, Vic, I'm thrilled that she did it! That's the first time she's ever touched ME! I have pet her, but you can tell she doesn't want to be touched!

I seemed to have missed your response when you made it. Star is a semi-feral (wild) stray who just happens to be a snowshoe siamese as well. she's a beauty
