Have you ever had a fist fight with a family member?

I was told this morning, two of my female cousins had a fist fight last night. One punched the other in the face and she had to get 5 stiches. I was so upset and shocked that she would do this to her own sister. Have you ever had a fist with a family???

Yes, My granddaughter that is 16 I end up fighting her because she kept talking back to me. I was so inbarassing, but I wasn't going to let her disrespect me like she did. I won't talk to her for a long time. I have lost all respect for her. She is crazy! I think something is wrong with her. It has to be for her to want to fight her own grandmother. this is terrible.

Heated war of words yes. Fist fight, as in physically hurting the other member, no. Yet to get to that stage yet. Hope I do not get to that stage. I know my temper. And I would not know my own strength if I were to hit some one in anger. So I am praying very hard that such a day would never come. Ever!

don't worry about it, you won't do it. praying is a great way to make sure that doesn't happen.

I do not get along well with my sister...and never really have...as a child there were many physical confrontations BUT as an adult...I really do not have much desire to be around her... It is a shame when family can not get along together though and I wish that it were different for us... I do not see myself as a grown woman actually hitting her! Tina

I am doing fairly well, my friend...been off doing my own thing and trying to enjoy life with the kids and grandkids...planting a few flowers and building a herb garden...lots of fun stuff! Have been gone for awhile and thought I should pop in and say "hi" to all of my MyLot friends that I have been missing... Hope that you and your family are doing well... Hugs, Tina

Absolutely not, I was raised to be a lady. My parents and society in general taught us that fist fights were very unlaydlike and severely frowned upon. If a female was involved in a fistfight she was considered a crude low-life. Of course we were taught that a lady does not get physically mad, she just gets even. So not sure that was so cool either. lol

True, that is the best way. But kids nowadays seem th think it's some kind of status thing to get into fights. I have never understood that.

Not yet, but give it time. My in laws keep pushing me the way they do, and I just might have to slap them both. Trust me I've thought about it. They just don't know when to keep their mouths shut and they say the rudest things to me. Thus far I've been quite controlled, but one of these days they will catch me at a bad time and I'll just smack them.

honey you old her head up. don't allow them to take you to that place. stay away from them. don't be around them at all. you are in control of your life don't give your power away to those who don't know enough to love themselves to make you feel like you need to smack them. although when i read this it made me laugh.

No I just grew up with a brother and we never fought like that . I think the only thing we ever did was pinch and pull hair . I did have 2 cousins who were sisters who got in a fist fight one xmas many , many years ago and it was crazy to watch . They were fighting over who would get more gifts the next day and who was mom and dads favorite.

hi momma! that seemed like a terrible fight. and they were females punching each other?? what a terrible sight. i have never gotten into a fist fight with any of the members of the family or any relative of mine. its always verbal fight, arguments and never a fist fight. there was one incidence when i slapped my younger sister a long time ago but she didn't slap me back, she couldn't, but that was all. there was never any injury. i hope that kind of fist fight won't happen between members of our family.

I never did. DOn't intend to either :) I don't like fights and if I have no choice I still don't see myself resorting to fist fights. Words are fine with me. I don't believe that things need to get physical to have an effect but I understand that not everyone thinks the same way I do. Still it would shock me to hear that too. A sister! wow!

One of my male cousins and I had a fight one when we were around 11 and 12. I do not remember what it was about, but no one got seriously injured. The thought of fighting with any family member now, is totally not even thought of.

We were not a violent family, but I do remember that when my twin brother and I and my younger brother reached the ages of 13 and 11 respectively, my dad bought us all boxing gloves so when we were so frustrated with each other we wanted to pound the heck out of one another, at least we didn't do any damage! LOL

no i haven't. but when we were kids my bother punched me in my right arm and i hated him for that because it bruised. but that never happened again. we are very close so we always tease each other and sometimes we punch each other but not as hard as like that anymore. and we never get mad at each other for doing jokes that involve punching and pushing each other. i can never imagine having a fist fight with anyone, most especially with any of the family member. hope that would never happen to me!

I have gotten in fist fight with a family member before. It was my sister in law...I was only 19 at the time but I was living with her and my brother. She was and still is the type of person who thinks everyone is scared or should be scared of her. She was running he mouth to me one night and we ended up in a fist fight. Needless to say...I moved out that night!! Ever since then we have never even gotten an argument...

The only person who has ever made me mad enough to want to hit them is my sister. For all the years we spent growing up together she would follow me around and say and do things to antagonize me. It drove my mother crazy and she would tell my sister to leave me alone. It took mom pouring a bucket of water over my sister's head to get her to back off. I love my sister but she strives to get the last word in and to control everyone around her. I spent three days on the road with my sister, driving from the west coast to Colorado, and it was enough to convince me that I can not live close to my sister ever again.

When I was a kid, I think that one of my brothers punched me in the stomach. If it happened today, it would put me in the hospital. I don't try to get involved in physical fights with others, even family members, cause I would most likely lose. I'm not very strong. P.S. Sorry to hear about your cousin being injured.

it happens..i know coz it happens to me..few months back i had a huge fight with my brother because he was just so lazy and do nothing but give us headache..he doesn't work not once..he only eats and sleep and over use my computer..he doesn't help around the house and he loves to leave the house all dirty..he doesn't know how to place the dirty dishes on the sink and just leave it where he had it..so it hit me at my bad time and there it is, i nagged on him..the next thing i knew his hands are on my neck and he is about to kill me because he suffocated me..i wouldn't even imagine not even once in my whole life a family member will ever do that to me..

no I can truly say I have never had a fist fight with any of my family. thank goodness for that. My son and my husband got into several times and I had to intercede' but I never hit anyone myself. I hate fist fights and fighting in general. things can be ironed out by talking no sense in resorting to fists thats just plain dumb.

Maybe when I was younger. My sister next to me and I never got along. She always thought she was better than me or anyone else in my family. And I believe she still does. I don't like to fight but if its to save myself or a family member I will give it my all.

As children my brother and sister and I would often come to blows. In fact my mother at one stage threatened to get boxing gloves for us. Thank fully it never came to that - but I do remember hitting, kicking and stratching. Never resulted in any serious harm though and I think it was just childhood issues. You know what I mean I'm sure. These days we are the best of friends - thankfully. Violetdreams
