This is a shot of one of my Grape or Cherry tomatoes. The heat, sunshine, and the watering from me is finally starting to pay off. Some of my tomatoes are finally turning red. So do you have tomatoes planted this year? Sre they strating to ripen yet? How many and what variety do you have growing? I have a grape, 2 cherry, 2 beefsteak, and 3 others that I forget and will be surprised when they ripen. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Grape tomatoes are the size of a grape and they grow in clusters like grapes. Cherry tomatoes are a little smaller and do not grow in clusters. Hope this might help. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Nothing red here yet, but my babies are still growing. A couple of them have 3 or 4 tomatoes, but still plenty more flowers to be pollinated. The three I planted alongside the house have grown at least 18 inches above the top of the tomato cage. Good thing they're sturdy!

I think I may have a roam but can't recall. I think I have like 9 or 10 plants total and I usually always forget to stick the name tag next to the plants when I plant them. Roma are actually my fave. My wife prefers Cherry tomatoes. Any photos of your plants to share maybe? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have some cherry tomatoes planted in a container. They have not started bearing any tomatoes yet. Seems like they should have by now.

I have Roma and some other varieties. The weather here has been fairly crappy as of late, and I'm not sure if they are getting enough sunshine. Nothing is turning red yet, and only a couple of the tomatoes are big. I think we will have at least two nice sunny days this week so hopefully that will help.

Yeah it was nasty here till recently. We actually had like 10 days in a row of warm sunny days. the tomatoes need that sunshine to redden too. Hope things get better for yours weather wise soon. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah we got lots of rain, hail, and high winds for about 15 minutes. The tomatoes need the sunshine for ripening. Rain doesn't matter except meaning you don't have to water them as much. But it's the sunshine that reddens them. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM DADDY !!~

I just got through reading an e-mail from realage.com that tomatoes are one of about 4 foods that are really good for fighting skin cancer, or the prevention of it. It doesn't erase the need for sun block, but at least you are doing your part to save your own skin! I'm jealous, I love tomatoes!

Me too. My upstairs neighbor is growing them on her "porch" (slab of concrete). They just get better looking every day. I think she better keep an eye on them. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for someone to steal the poor woman's tomatoes!

Happy to hear your tomatoes are finally ripening, Grandpa Bob. I've picked 4 cherry tomatoes so far and boy were they good. I have a row of 6 Roma tomatoes for sauce this fall and a slicing tomato as well but can't recall what kind. Think it's Big Boy. My green peppers have small peppers on them and my one banana pepper surprised me with 3 peppers, one of which is almost ready to pick. Radishes are all pulled and sitting in the fridge washed and ready for snacking as well. I have tons of carrots in three big pots but only a quarter of my beets came up. Guess I'll plant those in pots next year as well.

Big Boys that's one other I have. I forget all the time what I've planted. Plus I always toss those little tags out when I get them out to plant. My peppers are very, very stunted. had a few flowers but no peppers yet. Sounds good to me as far as your foods picked. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

LOL I leave the tags in place and I still forget because they end up being buried by the thick mulch of grass clipping I put around the plants. One of my green peppers is stunted but has flowers on it. Think the rain has a lot to do with the stunted plants being when my garden was toward the back of the property more, it got flooded and every one of my plants would be stunted then.

No we don't have any tomatoes growing this year. My son gets different types at different times. The best ones we have grown though I think were beefsteak, that is if they are the huge ones, one slice covers a hamburger or sandwich? Nothing beats a good homegrown tomato. Homegrown any type of veggie as far as that goes.

Wow you have so many varieties of tomatoes! I don't think I've even tried all these varieties before on the dinner plate, not to mention trying to grow them. have you considered making ketchup? haha. I love sweet little cherry tomatoes, but only if they are sweet. hope yours are sweet, which they should be if you have put so much tender loving care into crowing them. They are looking great!

I have large beefsteak tomatoes, plum tomatoes and ordinary round red ones. Then in the cherry varieties I have two different sized red round varieties, a round yellow variety and a red and a yellow plum. I also have a large black variety. It was a dismal failure last year as it rotted before it ripened, but I thought I would give it another chance. I haven't as many tomatoes planted as last year which is a shame as I was intending on doing more. Time got away with me though so I shall have to make the most of what I have planted. they're mainly still small, with some plants still in flower and my most advanced fruit just starting to colour.

Yummy! Can't wait to see the finished product AGB! I don't have any tomato plants this year - I did last year and the thing turned into what looked like a triffid plant - we got a lot of lovely tomatoes but no light through our kitchen window! lol xxx

I have a couple of early girl tomato plants that haven't bloomed yet because I planted them late. I've come to think of you as Mr. Green Jeans for some reason, a farmer--all you need is a couple of cows!

I planted about 5 different kinds of tomatoes this year. The only ones that I have been able to harvest so far are the cherry tomatoes. I have romas on the vines but not ready to pick yet. I can't figure out why all my others and just blooming flowers but no tomatoes. Luckily, my inlaws have a huge garden and they will share with me . lol I will also share things that I am growing with them. I also do this with my friend who grows other things too. It reminds me of the way it used to be, when people traded things. I love trading food ! Have a great day Grandpa ! And congratulations on your garden.
