i really want to ask your precious views or opinion why is it that women in general likes to shop...? in early days its the man who was the hunter on the family .i mean its the male/man who hunts food for the group or family( a provider) while the woman gathers them and prepare for them...and at present if im going to base on my own personal experienced i usually feel happy and somewhat in a good mood through out the day inspite of feeling tired after ive gone shopping ..maybe its the hormones working the trick..that makes me feel that way...

I guess it is because in the old days, us women never got enough money so when we finally got some, we went crazy. It was something we could buy for ourselves alone and not the food to feed the family or the clothes or the furniture for the kids. And it does feel good to really get something nice for yourself. I just have to remember to make sure I pay the credit card at the end of the month.

Ah, my friend, it all depends I guess. Personally I am not much of a shopper and although I might feel happy for a good buy, shopping is not one of my favorite activities. I don't really have much patience for window shopping, I don't like to take too much time shopping and I am at my best shopping by myself, so I can breeze trough the whole thing:) I also don't like to to go shopping malls, and I do get a headache after staying in one for more than half an hour LOL My main goal when shopping is : know what I want/need, quickly compare prices, go in, buy, go out . Now if we think about hubby, he actually enjoys shopping. He likes to go to a place, look at everything, even if he is not going to buy all those things. SO I guess it's not exactly gender specific.

I do not like shopping alone...but when I shop with someone else I think it's sharing the experience that makes us feel so good!!! Just my opinion.

it's why men are opposite of women. my husband hates shopping. the only things he would like to shop are the groceries:-) or wait, the computer stuffs. but when it comes to personal things such as his own clothes, shoes, or gifts for anyone, he really is so lazy. we really complement each other. that's why he won't live without me, his friends will get mad at him without him, because he'd rather give them money than to shop for gifts.

Well looking at it from a prehistoric, view, the women would gather up and use little trickets that made life just a little better. Like berries for pies, or a stick into a knife so I guess it really does make sense.

I know that I shop sometimes to cheer myself up. If I'm feeling empty in particular, unfulfilled, I think perhaps my subconscious thinks that buying things will 'fill me up', sort of the same as eating comfort food. But apart from that aspect I also find it quite relaxing - I can kind of get lost while shopping and forget about all my stresses and worries for a while.

I think both men and women like to shop, assuming of course we are talking about shopping for something they are interested in. I for one like to shop too! Perhaps men are not shoppers "traditional" because they used to spend long hours working. Or perhaps there is some unknown stereotypes associated with shopping that I don't know of. Anyway today, I think it is a common sight to see both genders shopping and enjoying themselves.

Why is it the Women in general likes to shop? Probably, they have a greater patience than man..in selecting the best things..in bargaining products.. I never bargain while purchase, If some one says its Rs 100/= Okay..have it.. take the product.. Shopping finished is my strategy..

Hello vanities, This is the topic I love so much *smiles* I think it is in our genes. Men hate waiting and women love shopping. They were the hunter but they hunt for the family and we, women always stay at home to take care of the family and do the house chores. Since we have so much time to spend, we are asked to buy the groceries too and starting from only groceries we tend to go overboard *laughs* It is in our genes that we can't see nice, beautiful stuff that we tend to spend the money! I just love shopping but oh yes, my husband hates to give me money!

I never thought of things like that before, I wish I knew. I am one of the few men who likes to shop somewhat so I can understand why people like to shop but not why only women do. My sister also likes to shop but she is a shopohollic, she will buy something just because it is a good deal weither she needs it or not.

Men provided the protein by hunting and fishing. People who have studied such things believe that was approximately 20% of the diet. Women gathered or raised veggies, fruit, etc. Roots, berries, leaves, fruit, flowers, stems, etc. Whatever they could find to eat. Women also usually made the clothes. Cooked food. We selected things. so foraging for 80% of the food was like grocery shopping in the wild. Selecting fibers to make clothes or at least cutting up tanned or maybe tanning (depends on the tribe and how work was divided up) and deciding which fibers or parts of leather were going to do what was like clothes shopping. Women usually selected fibers or hides to make blankets. Hunting is not very restful, fishing can be, depends on how it is done. Gathering food is enjoyable (for me anyway). Haven't made my own clothes yet, esp. from scratch, but I would like to. Women also found and prepared the soap plants or made soap from fat and lye or oil and wood ashes. The great outdoors was our selection/find center, now stores are our shopping (find and select) center.

Yea. Shopping can help to de-stress. I also feel happy and satisfied after buying the items I want to buy. Today, I went shopping at Daiso. It has many cute things from Japan. I bought 8 items. I felt happy after shopping in Daiso.

One can argue two ways on this one. a) Shopping is a form of gathering, and if the woman hasn't already made the money for herself, the man provides the money which she spends shopping, and the ability to spend money shopping means she has a good provider b) Times have changed, and the old rules of revolution have shifted to a paraidigm where both parties hunt, as well as gather. I like to think the latter theory is the one that holds up today.

I don't really know why I love shopping except that it seems to relax me and loosen up. I just love shopping. I do feel tired afterwards but I still feel good. When I am depressed over something, i go shopping and I believe most women do.I remember someone saying before that one just have to look at the womans spending habit to know if she is unhappy or not. I guess it is part of our coping mechanism.

I think it is because they love to always feel and look beautiful. That is why women are always going to mall to see what is new and buy things that will adorn them and makes them really feel and look beautiful.

vanities I think we women love to shop because it is one of'the things that men do not try to oversee in our lives. much as we love them they can at times be a pain in the butt. So we enjoy our freedom as we shop, and our purchases when we get home.
