A new use for cell phones?

While I was driving home I was listening to the radio. During one of their commercials the DJ spoke about a man who's cell phone saved his life, literally. Apparently a stray bullet shot the man in the chest while he was riding on his lawnmower. The cell phone, which he normally puts in his pants pocket was in his shirt pocket instead. Had it not been for the cell phone, this man may not be alive today. Talk about an amazing story! You can read more about it at this link: http://www.wwltv.com/topstories/stories/wwl111908tplucky.1cc3c41f3.html Have you heard this story before this? What do you think about it?

Wow what a miracle. The fact that he rarely kept his phone in his shirt is a testament that this man was saved by divine intervention for a higher purpose. I think God must have plans for this man to have survived such a horrific experience. I'm glad that you shared this story.

Hey, that seems about one of the most positive uses for the cellphones LOL ( I knew they actually had at least one positive use hehehehehe ) I think that this man was really lucky and should thank his lucky star because it's one of those things that sound like a miracle or something :)

I have seent hat happening on TV a lot. The recent movie "Bring the House down" had one scene just like that! I never knew it could actually happen in real life! I wonder which phone he is using. I am guessing it is probably an older model that is thicker. Cells today are made so thin, I don't know if they will be able to block a bullet or not. THe article also did not mention where the source of the bullet is from. It is so darn dangerous. Imagine, if the phone had not been there, an innocent life who is going about minding his own business would have been lost just like that! *snap fingers* That guy really had a lucky break! Otherwise, he has one heck of a vigilant guardian angel watching over him!

Thanks for the best response! Well, it is good that such things do actually happen. Makes you think a lot about what is possible and what is not. Now, watching TV is bring whole new perspective on life. The possibilities are endless and it stops only with our imagination!

No, I have not heard this story before. I think things like that happen for a reason. I think it is an act of God. As God has plans for tha man yet. As he time is not done here on earth. I know not very many people agree with the way I think. But thats fine.

That is what we call a miracle. And the cellphone really can save people now. Maybe it is not his time to die. Maybe he still have obligation so God don't permit this to happen.

That guy was plain lucky. However, I too read that cellphones should not be put near the heart as it might affect the heart with the radiation from the cellphone. It might be a myth but it pays to be cautious.

That is really amazing... i watched movies where a person was saved from a gunshot becaues of a crucifix, amulet, bible, and even a coin... but this is the first time that i read about a man saved by his own cell phone... and he did not even need to call... i guess if it is not yet our time to go... then the things the we least expect to save us... will definitely save us...

I did hear this story a while back and it was amazing.....must not have been his time to go...I know there are several times when I did something out of the ordinary that might have saved my life......When I was in high school there was a terrible accident that killed two of my friends....my sister and I had decided to stay home that night instead of running around....we would have been sitting where are friends were because we were the first ones he stopped to see if we wanted to go. I think if we all look back at our experiences we can see something like this....it's amazing!

A very lucky guy indeed! Maybe it's really not his time yet that's why the universe conspired and made him place his phone on his shirt pocket. I've heard a lot of similar stories of bullets being stopped by almost everything. from books to piles of lottery tickets, I think this would make it's place with these stories.

Wow! The guy is extremely lucky. What are the odds of someone putting his cellphone on his shirt pocket at the precise moment when a stray bullet hits him? I say that it is one in a billion! Some bizarre things do happen at the most unexpected times. Truth can sometime be a more strange than fiction, isn't it? Anyway, I am glad that the man is alive.

By what I heard, he didn't put it there at that very moment. He just happened to put it there that day. I believe all the other times he would put the cell phone in his pants pocket. So he was very fortunate to put it where he did that day!

I guess he has perfect excuse to get another cell phone... "Yeah, honey, I know cell phone costs a lot of money but last one saved my life...!!!!"

He is very lucky to see the dawn. It does not mean than cell phones always prevent the penetration. Either the bullet would have been shot from a long range and the bullet must have lost its momentum by the time it hit him..or else it should be a deflected bullet (from a stone or an iron). A close ranged shot would have pierced him through the mobile. He should thank his lucky stars for being alive..
