I do like seeing the plant scattered around businesses and churches. They add such a bright spot to the places where they adorn the decorations. Do you like Poinsettias? Have you ever had one in your home? I have bought them for gifts but never had one in my own house. How about you?

Just to let you know, they are not poisonous. Just an old wives tale. They can cause vomiting and upset stomach though but nothing serious enough to consider it poisonous. It is also an irritant because of the sap. Have a great Holiday.

Poinsetta Coasters and Holder - Poinsetta coasters and holder made with plastic canvas. Have given as gifts in the past and they went over very well.
I think they are beautiful and love them but don't own one. I won't now because of the cat. She might eat the berries. I also have bought them for others. I made some coasters with poinsettas as the design. Will have to look and see where they are on my computer.

Exactly, muscles. I wouldn't run the risk of having this plant in the house with our older, nosey cat. She's very special to me.

Hi Jill, Yes, I love the Poinsettia's. I use to sell them around Christmas time as I worked in a Garden Center years ago and they're beautiful. I always bought a small one to put on my "fake" fireplace but it still looked so pretty. The easiest way to water them is with ice cubes. They don't like alot of water, in case you ever get one for yourself. Merry Christmas to you and Happy New Year!

Hi Jill, Here's a little link for you....http://www.petittigardencenter.com/index.php?option=com_expertresources&task=guide&gid=66....this is where I use to work and tells you about the care on Poinsettia's, plus the ice cubes. Hope it works. That is so nice of all of you to do and that's part of what Christmas is all about...take care.

I have never had a Poinsettia plant in my home before either. They are so beautiful. I know when I was a little girl my mother and I lived with my grandmother. At my grandmother's house she had a Poinsettia tree growing at the side of the house. It was probably about 20 feet tall. It gree year round and in the colder months I remember that it would get the red flowers. During most of the year though the tree was entirely the green leaves. We lived in Southern California though, so the climate is temperate and the weather does not change drasticly at all so that is probably why it grew so well. It was over 50 years old. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I did not have one this year, but I have had them in the past. I think it looks nice seeing plants like Poinsettias around businesses and churches as well. They make pretty decorations.

We have them all over the stage at our church. I love them too. I wanted to get a blue poinsettia this year, but the store that sells them is a ways from here, and I didn't want to go by myself because I hadn't been there before. I guess this store decided to play around. Besides the traditional red and white poinsettias, there were also blue, yellow, and of course purple.

Our first house had had a really large one outside that had grown into a huge bush. Unfortunately we had a frost one year and it didn't survive. When we moved into the house we live in now, my sister bought a poinsettia for us. Poor thing did not survive. :-(

I love poinsettias, they add such a wonderful splash of red to Christmas.. I have quite a few of the artificial one but would love to have a bunch of the real ones to decorate with.. I can't afford to buy many of the real ones at the holidays, and the one that I do buy are usually for gift giving, so I just settle for my artificial ones as they don't drop their leaves for any reason, but if they did, I can always reattach it back where is belongs.. I do so love the Poinsettia.. I like the red more so than the white, but if I had bunchs of them, I wouldn't mind mixing and matching them..

I would have to say yes that I like them. I think they do add to decorations especially in church's and places like that. I'm not one to buy them for myself though. They die really quick and is really not a plant that you can save for the following year and have it return to the same splendor that it is this year. I'd rather buy a decoration that I can use again next year.

These are beautiful flowers. No I don't have them at home however. It is also good to have baby's breath and lilacs. These are beautiful Christmas flowers. Christmas would not be complete without flowers to brighten the season and lend colorful ambiance to the atmosphere. Even churches look brilliant with flowers. Cheers.

I have had poinsettias in the past, but we didn't end up getting a plant this year. They are so pretty, friendly, and inviting. I like seeing them when I go to the grocery store...although they're in a weird location above the freezer items! They are easy to take care of if you decide to get one at some point.

Yes, I love them too. where I live they are called the Christmas Flower. I have masses of them in full bloom on the property where |i work. They are right outside my office door. I will have just one indoors this year as the price has risen so much. We don't often give them as gifts as everyone has them in their gardens at this time of the year. Although there is a demand from hotels and villas to purchase them for inside. I think it is the colour that make them look so welcoming and Christmasy. In fact, I have an artificial one at the top of my Christmas tree this year as the angel is lost. Blessings.

Yes they are very pretty aren't they? I have had the red ones in my home before but not more than one pot at a time. They have so many different colors of them, some very pretty ones besides just the red ones.

I am late on all your discussions but I am bound and determined to answer them all! Yes, I love Poinsettias. Where I live, they grow in our yards, can you imagine? Some of them are huge bushes and they are gorgeous when they bloom! I keep thinking I'm gonna carry my camera with me and snap a few pictures of them. I have had them in my home. I tend to set one in the front lanai (screened in area) on the little table to welcome people who come to see us during the holidays. I've also lined them up on the fireplace mantel when we lived up north. I love them. Strangely, I didn't get one this year. We had a beautiful Kalanchoe (sp) on the table in the lanai and it bloomed and was gorgeous! I should take a picture of that...

I have always loved them, too, and now that I live in Florida I have learned that I can plant them and keep them forever! I have two right now but I plan to buy more right before Christmas and maybe even more afterwards.

I do like poinsettias but havent had one in years. The reason is I have pets and I heard the leaves are very poisonous it eaten, and I would put it past one of them to try a taste. But someday I would like to have one again. I do pick up a few to bring with me to parties though.
