I love it - but I wonder how long it is before the fire brigade is called out (and arrives too late) to put out the burning cross? Lash

For a second there you had me wondering if I'd misread the billboard, but no, it is definitely produced by the Freedom FROM Religion Foundation. In which case, I don't understand your confusion: is not the Bible belt a KKK region? Do you really think that fundamentalists will allow the sign to stand untouched? Lash

I think it says a lot about the freedom to choose, and the pun is very clever too. A car in my building sports two bumper stickers. 1) Honk If You ARE Jesus 2) My Karma Ran Over Your Dogma

And it's up to us not to let that happen. I'm all for freedom of religion, if that's what people want. I am happy in my religion, but I have been in situations where another's religion almost pushed me too far.

Unfortunately, in this era it is more likely that someone's dogma shat on your karma. Lash

I'm not sure what it is you don't understand. For a definition of dogma, go here: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/dogma For the news article on this sign, go here: http://www.arktimes.com/Articles/ArticleViewer.aspx?ArticleID=e5a7dbe5-f0ef-4670-bbd7-1f2ff2979ca2 I believe that this billboard is in direct response to the city's annual display of the nativity scene. Happy MyLotting!

I like the billboard! These freethinkers are making a good point. George W Bush was elected twice, with strong Religious support. Once would have been enough, but Bush rallied the Religious Right, and together they brought the world down to their level. God Keep America from the Religious Right!

I like the billboard but not really the message its trying to convey. While most religious practices are mired in dogma, it is also required for the true message to be conveyed to the masses. Freedom from religion is not the requirement of the day coz it will never be possible to wipe out religions totally. Rather the true spirit of all religions and amendment of some medieval rules and laws need to be done to keep society and nations together. Total freedom from religion may actually bring on more anarchy than do any good.

Hi Princess, No, rule by religion is not my point, rather what I welcome is true separation of the state and the church. What I tried to convey in my post is rather that a healthy attitude should be approached towards religious teachings from a very young age. Most religions are not new, they had their birth in the medieval ages or even earlier and there are many rituals and laws which need serious rethinking in keeping with changing times. Also, in a plural society, either public display of all religions should be banned totally or children must be taught about the good points of all major religions from the school level itself. As I said, religion has many good things to offer to society, obliterating it completely may have a serious impact on the morality of people. So instead of looking at the darker and dogmatic side of religion, we should use its goodness as a unifying force. Sudipta

That's an interesting point of view. So you're saying that in order to have an effective government, it needs to be run by a religion? I thought that was a failed idea: thinking of the example of the Catholic church at Vatican city and Martin Luther. The Vatican governed using religion. I'm very interested in your point of view and hope you respond again!

Who put it up, atheists, anarchists, or those who think that when you go to church you can do what you bloody well like? Maybe someone who says, "Well I do not believe we should sing at church, maybe we should go parachuting through the roof," or someone who thinks that well anyone can preach on anything, no need to preach about Jesus Christ coming to Earth and being born in a stable, lets just make up our own beliefs? I think this is a foolish attempt by the atheists or agnostics to keep people from celebrating Christmas. Will not work. Have not seen one up here in Manitoba, but Steinbech, Manitoba is in Mennonite country so if there were a billboard placed to persuade people not to attend church, that is where they would put it.

If you read the link you would see that it was a protest about mixing religion and politics by having Christian scenes in a political area. The government is supposed to be secular and supposed to represent all the people of the country no matter what their religion is not just the Christians. It has nothing to do with going to church which is where religion belongs.

Anarchists? Really? They are trying to stop Christians from celebrating Christmas? How do you figure that from the billboard?

Hmmm....let's see....the people who put it up left their website on the billboard. No one is trying to stop anyone from going to church, this was a protest to the City putting up a nativity scene annually. Happy MyLotting!

Nope, never seen such a message before. What does it mean anyways? "BEWARE OF DOGMA"... what does it mean? If Dogma is the definition of religion, why must one beware of it? Shouldn't it read "BE AWARE OF DOGMA" instead? I am confused here.

I think it should read "Beware of Billboards!" I don't care for proselytizing whether it is for or against the prevailing beliefs. This is provocateuring. When I lived in the midwest every road was punctuated with Burma Shave signs. But when we moved to California, the highways were decorated with lovely flowering oleander bushes. Signs were not allowed. That is one thing I really like about California. The other is the ocean!

The billboard looks nice, and i like the message.. lol =D It's very right.. everybody has a freedom to choose what religion they wanna follow, and that there should be no restriction.. After all, religion is about following it whole heartedly, and if there are others whom joined unwillingly, isn't that considered an act against god, and it means that god is actually forcing ple to do things?? lol

I don't think that god is necessarily forcing people to do things, it's other people using god as an excuse to force other people to do something. Thanks!

Nope, haven't seen that reach my area, yet. We've got plenty of religious signs. "Christ is Christmas" and so one - but nothing secular. I'm surprised you could find a sign like that in the bible belt.

I like it. I have never seen one before or heard of the group but I totally support their view that politics should be religion free. Putting up a Christian religious scene in a political area is like proclaiming Christianity as the only religion and that is totally wrong. It is about time that politics got properly secular as they are supposed to be and let everyone enjoy their own religion without having one particular one shoved down their throats.

I like it... I have seen those other pictures of billboards promoting christian fundamentalism and it is nice to see there is a little balance in this world. Radical Christians scare me just a bit.

Sorry, I couldn't see the billboard you were referring to. Did others have this problem and if so can you sent it again.
