Oh crap! Naturally Patrick Swayze is in my thoughts and prayers, I had just watched him on that Barbara Walters special this past Wednesday and I loved his fighting spirit he showed. But pneumonia?? Hate to say it but that's usually not a very good sign. My mother passed away, not because of her cancer, but as you can guess pneumonia...still hoping for a miracle though with Patrick Swayze

Yes, that was my first thought. Crap he's getting close to the end. But, I saw his Barbara Walters interview also & he seems so determined. I fully believe attitude is half the battle. I pray that this bout with pneumonia is only his body just a little bit worn down & not what we're both thinking!!! I do believe he commented in the interview that he believes he has 2-5 years. That will go by too fast.

Patick is in my thoughts and prayers. I lost two family members to pancreatic cancer and it is a horrible disease. He's much too young to have to battle cancer. I believe that he's in the hospital because he came down with pneumonia. I'm praying that doesn't mean that the cancer has spread. The good piece is that he has enough money to get the finest care possible.

Yes, he is in the hospital with pneumonia. However, cancer seldom kills people directly. It's usually the pneumonia as a side effect of the treatments that finally kills them. With my aunt, the treatments killed her heart & she had a heart attack.

Just heard this on the news. I knew he had cancer but thought he was doing well. Apparently he's not so well but has continued to work for the last several months without missing any work. My favorite movie is "Dirty Dancing." He is an amazing dancer. I wish him well and hopefully he can pull through this bout of pneumonia.

I, too, love Dirty Dancing!!! They said he has worked the last 5 months without so much as a painkiller & he ONLY missed 1-1/2 days during that time. He says his work is what gives him his strength. So far he has lived twice as long as the doctors thought he would. He IS an AMAZING man!!!

I had heard this on the news yesterday, no details, just the report that he'd checked into the hospital with pneumonia. I know, as so many other here have posted, it's not good news when someone with cancer comes down with pneumonia but I think it's also worth noting that he's apparently in pretty good shape otherwise, if that makes any sense, having endured shooting an entire season of his new show and he seems to be in great spirits all things considered plus he's relatively young so that may be in his favor. I know it's probably being very optimistic but there's always hope and he's certainly been in my prayers and obviously those of many others. Annie

I wasn't saying the pneumonia will kill him now. I was mainly asking for prayers for his health. He's not that much younger than me. Yes, he is strong & his health seems to be good otherwise. He admits that he ignored the symptoms when he first noticed them. He was in bad shape by the time he started seeking treatment. The doctors had told him he might have 6 months. He's now made it to 10 months. I pray he will continue on & prove the doctors WRONG!!! He said working made him feel more empowered. He only missed 1-1/2 days out of the last 5 months. I know from watching friends who have had cancer, when pneumonia begins setting in, the health seems to deteriorate rapidly from there. I pray he is exception to the rule!!! I have faith in his heart & his own spirituality & know he will fight this as hard as he can. I'm just a firm believer that prayer helps!!! I know for sure that it doesn't hurt!!!

I saw this on aol earlier and it sure does sadden me to hear and read this news. I watched the Barbara Walters show the other night with him and his wife. He is being one strong man and I also applaude his wife. I sure hope he gets well enough to leave the hospital. While watching him the other night I was wondering if it would be his last interview. I am thinking it is the Ellen DeGeneres show he is supposed to be on this next week. Prayers go out to Patrick and also for his wife.

They have always been very dedicated to each other. Whenever asked where he found the emotion for a scene, he always responded I just thought of my beautiful wife. You could hear the sincerity in his voice!!! They have been together since their early teen years.

Very very sad. I hope that he pulls through!!!! Just the other night Barbara Walters did a special with him!!! It was good and sad all at the same time. He is in my prayers!! Only God knows what the plan is for him and for all of us. I just hope that whatever the plan is, that he is not in pain and that they keep him as comfortable as possible....Such a sad story! He admits that he ignored all the warning signs thinking things would get better. By the time he realized he had a serious problem & went to the doctor, it was too late. I understand that it is extremely painful also!!! He is waaay too young to be snatched away from us!!!

He has already beaten the odds by living as long as he has with pancreatic cancer. It is not surprising he has secondary health problems from chemotherapy. Cancer is bad enough but for some people chemotherapy is brutal on a person's body. I wish they could find a cure soon.

I am very sad to hear that. Pneumonia can really be bad for people with cancer, and it also makes treatment of the cancer very difficult. I do hope he gets better, and gets rid of the pneumonia very quickly. He is such a wonderful man, I hate that he has this terrible cancer. I will definately say a prayer for him. Thank you for sharing the news and the article.

I love this guy and hope that he beats the odds. When I read this today I was sad as I had just seen his interview with Barbara Walters. He is a fighter. This does not mean the end. Having been through chemo, myself, it is true that your immune system is compromised. He is already in my prayers.

I will keep him in my prayers. He is also one of my favorites. I don't however think it's the publics business, It is his personal life and the media should stay out of it.
