The place that we usually go to wanted almost $300 to do our return. So we decided to do our taxes ourselves. We used Turbo-Tax online. It walked us through the entire process. From start to finish was about 2 hours. And the cost was a fraction of what we would have paid. $65! Quite a savings if you ask me. Not as stressful as we thought either. How do you do your taxes? If you prepare the return yourself how long does it take you?

We'll normally buy the H&R Block software, but this year I just decided to do it through their website. I was actually only charged $30, and between state and federal got back nearly $8,000. I filed the taxes the same day I recieved the final document in the mail, and had the money within a couple weeks because I got it direct deposited into my bank account. We've had it all over and done with for well over a month now.

It can seem daunting to take on your own taxes. This is something that tax preparation places make their money from. However, I had notice the price for having my taxes done going up over the past few years. To be honest, I don't think my taxes are particularly challenging or tricky. When I was single, I would fill out my taxes myself. Married and with a house, I haven't handled working with the IRS forms for some time now. I really think I would probably be better off buying some program like TurboTax. It would probably keep me from wasting some money at tax time, too. Certainly a difference of $245 is significant!

Hey that is great, I feel that if you keep things in order and get one that you can understand it should be easy enough. I have never filed on online before no. But I have seen others in the family do so.

I used Turbo Tax online also. I think it cost me about $45 to $65 and I had my return within a few weeks deposited straight into my bank account. Not to mention it was the best return I've ever received. I think it took me less than an hour to complete it myself and it was so self explanatory that I would recommend it to anyone.

My husband has been using Turbo-Tax to do our tax return for about 5 years now. It really does make it easier to do. He buys the Turbo-Tax program because he didn't want to do the online one. (I can't remember his reasoning.) I picked up the program on sale at Best Buy for $50. There may be another fee to the government for filing online, not sure about that.

I go to H&R Blocks website and do them online for free. They want you to pay like $20 for the filing of the state return, but I always do those on paper and mail them in. Total cost to file taxes is one a 42 cent stamp.

I am able to do my taxes for free on line. I think it's because my return isn't very difficult. I think doing them on line is such a money saver especially when I am not getting that much back for my return anyways.
