It's my birthday! I'm officially old now, 55, I'll get senior discounts and everything. I have my dogs with me to give me cheer but my sons are a couple thousand miles away and I don't have friends here yet. So come to my virtual party! I'll be baking a cake, which kind is your favorite? And dinner, we'll be hungry so what would you like me to fix? Will you bring a small present? I have everything I want or need, so you really needn't bother! I hope you have fun at my small virtual birthday party!

Hi dragon! Sorry I'm late but Happy Belated Birthday!!! So, you were born on April 11th, huh? My husband's sister and mother were both born on April 11th, too. Popular day, apparently! Today is MY birthday! We're almost twins! I wish I could say I was 55 but that passed me by 2 years ago. Actually, I'd LOVE to say I'm 25 today, but I can't even say I'm twice 25! How about 25 with a LOT of experience? You could say that, too! You know, I've forgotten all about senior discounts! When I turned 50, I joined AARP but never really got much out of it because we don't travel and my husband refuses to switch auto insurance. So, I let it drop. I DO remember turning 55 and getting a discount at Goodwill stores! LOL Discounts at a discount store (well, okay, second-hand store). Where do you get discounts? I'll have to do some searching. Anyway, sorry I missed your party but you can come to mine!

My birthday was actually April 12, on Easter--that felt rather weird! Happy Birthday to you!!!! My party is still going, as people are still wandering in, so grab some cake and pizza, they have NO calories so eat as much as you like! There's a buffet over in the corner with all your favorite things! I'm not getting much out of AARP either so I'm letting it lapse. I love getting discounts at the discount store! I'm very, very cheap and anything I can save is welcome. Restaurants give discounts to 55 and over and now I can order from their senior menus--smaller portions and smaller prices! Only thing is, with this stinking economy I've quit going out to restaurants. I hope this is a wonderful day for you! Birthdays are good to celebrate because we've made it this far and have a lot of living done, good and bad memories and hopefully more good than bad.

Ah, that was wonderful! Eating all that food and not gaining an ounce!!! What a wonderful party, dragon!!! Sorry about mixing up the date. MyLot says you began this discussion 3 days ago, so I naturally assumed it was the 11th. (My mind may be going, but I can still do math! LOL) I've had two birthdays fall on Easter Sunday before. At least, that I can remember. It DOES feel strange! We have cheapness in common, that's for sure! LOL I LOVE saving money! I like quality, but I'll look around to find the "cheapest" quality I can find. I buy all my cleaning supplies from the dollar stores... same exact things as other stores but SO much cheaper! Shampoo is cheaper at WalMart than at the dollar stores, though. (I not only comparison shop in the same store, I comparison shop between ALL stores.) I've also done a lot of decorating our house from Goodwill. I've found some beautiful picture frames, wall art, vases, etc. from Goodwill. THANK YOU for telling me about the discounts at restaurants! I TOLD my husband that he's taking me out to dinner on Saturday. (He gets paid for the first time at his new job tomorrow, so no money until Thursday.) I don't expect him to come home with anything for me tonight. I even had to remind him it was my birthday this morning while he was getting ready for work. Hmmph! Who needs him! (I hope you noticed that I did NOT bring him to your party!) Okay, here's a good discount for your birthday: If you have a TGI Friday's nearby, you can go to their website and sign up for "Give Me More Stripes". It's free to sign up. You get a discount card where, if you buy one entree, you get another one for $1.00. You get a dessert for 1 cent, and a (one time) free appetizer. You can get the $1.00 entrees and free desserts as many times as you want, like forever. When they mail you the card, they also give you a "bump me" pass, a one-time get bumped up to the front of the line if they're crowded. Also, WalMart has free samples online at their website, located in the "In Stores Now" section. I get them all the time. No shipping & handling fees or anything. I'll have to go through my stuff, but I'm sure I have more "free" or discounts for ya! Here's to saving money and lots and lots of great memories to come!

Congratulations, even though I'm late as normal. I hope you guys left me some cake? Chocolate, sticky gooey chocolate, would have to be my favourite. And for dinner I'd love to see a table loaded with kiddies traditional birthday party treats (well, traditional in the UK anyway!). Cheese and pineapple on sticks, mini scotch eggs, tiny sausages ... I'm sure you can imagine the loaded table I have in mind! I would of course bring a present. One cn have everything one needs but still be cheered by a well chosen gift or a little touch of luxury. I'm afraid I don't know you well enough to choose something personal, but most people I know would be pleased with a few luxury chocolates (truffles?) or some nice goodies for the bath. Perhaps a plant would be nice. I don't like to buy flowers as they fade so fast, but a plant which could live on your step or desk would be nice. Yes, I think I'll go with that. And the truffles too ;-)

I love truffles and plants! But I'm at the age when just the act of attending, whether "real" or virtual, is a wonderful gift in itself. Look at all the people that were nice enough to help me celebrate!! It really made my birthday wonderful and I'm glad the party is spilling over a couple of days, it just stretches out the fun! I've never done this before, I never told anyone my birthday, but I knew there was no one here to celebrate with me and I decided to be bold. I'm glad I did!

I don't go out much--when I go out, I spend money! At 55 most of the discounts I get are from restaurants and places I don't usually go but it's nice to know that I can get them if I do want to go those places! Aren't dogs great? I don't know what I'll do without mine, the house will be so empty. Gus is 9, Cookie is 8 and when they leave me I won't get anymore. It's not fair to an animal to die before it does. Thanks for attending my party!

Hello dragon54u, Happy birthday! I wish you all the best in life. If you have some cocktail, I like to have one. Since this is a virtual party, I think I can afford to have a little drink. 55 is till not senior, I think 60 is. I am also nearing my 50 and I don't know what to expect. Hopefully, I can fullfill my obligations to my children to finish their studies. Happy birthday and enjoy your party. Regards.

I also think and act as 20 year old but my body shows the wear and tear of being here half a century. I think I'll have a gin and a tonic. The drink I always have when you I am in my 20's because it is cheap.

I love gin and tonic! Every so often I'll buy a bottle and enjoy my favorite drink. I think it smells and tastes like Christmas because of its pine-like scent. I'll join you!

I'm so glad you could come to my party! As you can see, it's still going on! I did bake a one-layer chocolate cake with low-sugar frosting and let me tell you, don't buy frosting like that! It's nice to save the calories but if I'm going to eat cake, I won't worry about the calories from now on. There is a bar over there with anything you'd like to drink and a buffet opposite with appetizers and entrees. Enjoy, and thanks for helping me celebrate!

Awwwwww............dragon..............! I'm so sorry I missed your birthday party! Please forgive me! I hope you had a great birthday, sweetie! On my birthday I did the same thing. A few days before I bought a cake and some ice cream and my housekeeper came by to help me celebrate. She brought a camera so she could take pictures of Mija (my furangel) and me. All in all it was a nice day! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Thanks!! I feel like I'm having a little party today, you're the second one wishing me a belated birthday! So you're alone, too, except for your furbaby? I have two dogs, they're good company and of course they had a tiny bite of cake. It was a good day, with so many people posting birthday wishes I almost felt like there was a party going on. I got some cards from family and a call from my Mom, too!

Please receive my late wishes of a happy birthday to you. All I can give you is my best wishes, wish you had fun on your birthday. Your bithday arose me remembering my old dady who is almost eighty now, he is healty and can do some small works that he can do. I am far away from him, I can only go back to visit him several times in a year. But he always told me not worry about him, he is optimism and not lonely. You are young comparatively, you may already retired but never make yourself feel lonely, try to find fun, to amuze yourself. Wish you a good life. Count me to your birthday party.

Thank you for the wonderful good wishes! Your dad sounds like a great person. I moved here a couple of years ago to be near my dad who was in very poor health then. He's really perked up, thank God! It's hard not to worry about them, isn't it? He's lucky to have a child that loves him.

There's a bar in the corner with anything you want, whether it's a soft drink, juice or something stronger. Poker is in the basement with the roulette wheel, board games are in the living room and there are people playing croquet and badminton in the back yard! I hope you have fun and thank you so much for the cake--I was running out with all these people here!

You didn't miss the party, 6Precious, people keep dribbling in so it goes on! I love it! Go on over to the buffet, there's hot pizza there and all kinds of goodies then you can have a piece of cake and some ice cream. Go down to the basement if you like slots and roulette or upstairs if you like scrabble and board games. On the first floor here everyone is eating and dancing to the music and laughing and talking. Enjoy yourself and thanks for showing up with birthday wishes!
