Or was your child in a parade for some reason? I've never been in a parade, and neither have any of my children.. yet. But my nephew was in yesterday's Memorial Day parade for the town he lived in. All the Little League, softball, and soccer teams were in the parade, and he is in Little League.

I've been in a bunch of parades! I was first chair flutist in the marching band during high school so I've marched in plenty of local parades. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it was a little too hot during the summer months to be marching in a heavy band uniform but otherwise, it was great! I've been in a few parades with other groups besides the marching band as well. I was in one for a beauty pageant, girl scouts, and was part of a float ensemble. I have also been part of a parade while working at Walt Disney World.

I'd love to see a Disney Parade! Alas, I live in NY and it's so expensive to travel there! Especially with 5 kids.

Unfortunately, I was too busy working to enjoy Disney World too much but the parades are beautiful! The night parades are the best! Very colorful and all lit up. It is a shame at how expensive WDW is. Really. They are a very crazy place to work for too! I would not reccomend it to most. You have to be a tough soul to survive working at a Disney park. It's fun to visit if you ever get a chance but not too much fun to work at. :)

The only parade I was ever in was as part of the marching band. I was in the marching band in high school and we always played in the town's Christmas parade. It was miserable! It was always freezing cold. It seemed like we were stopped more than we were moving. So it made it seem even colder! I imagine it would be far more fun to be in a parade when it isnt freezing cold outside! I havent even been to a parade in a long time. They are so much fun, though. Congrats to your nephew!

Awww! You poor thing! It would be awful to march in the freezing cold! What instrument did you play?

I was actually in the marching band for 3 years and didnt play the same instrument twice! The first year, I was part of the pit and played the marimba. So during the parade, I carried the flag. The following year, I played the alto sax. My last year I played the baritone sax. The bari sax was my favorite - even if it was almost as big as me!!

I've always thought it would be tough to be in that sort of costume in a summer parade. Me personally I hate the heat, and I see those poor kids walking in 90 degree weather wearing those heavy costumes and those tall hats with feathers on them, carrying these huge instruments. During our parade yesterday the marching band was surrounded by people carrying spray bottles who would occassionally squirt some of the musicians with water.

Yes, I've been in a parade before. It was back when I was in elementary school. The school I had gone to would hold a parade every year during Halloween. All the students from each grade would get to dress up in their costumes and the teachers would take us a few blocks around the city and then back to the school. It was a lot of fun. I remember feeling a little sad that the other elementary school I went to didn't have this yearly parade. But then again they were out in the country anyway!

I bet he had fun. I haven't been in one either. But my daughter was in her pre-school parade. The kids got to bring their tricycles and helmets and ride them. It was cute. Unfortunately, I don't have too many pictures.

Was that just a school type thing? My kids get to do school parades now and then too. Never with their bikes. But usually every Halloween they parade around the neighborhood in their costumes. Loads of people come out to see that.

Yes I have been in a few parades as a child. I was in the brownies and so there were lots of parades, they were fun. Then when I first left school and started working they did a parade and we decorated big lorries and ourselves it was a lot of fun and we raised a lot of money for charity. When I first moved to the town I live in now they would have a big fun weekend every year, and there would be this huge parade through town to start it all off and that was so much fun it was the highlight of my year but they stopped doing them some years back and now there is hardly anything. I think I live in the most boringest place in the world.

That's such a shame! I absolutely love that our town puts on the parade, and sometimes carnivals. We always look forward to them.

Yes, many times. And with both my children. On our horses and ponies. Mostly for Christmas. I used to take my children and go into all of the Christmas parades in the area. All within a half hour's drive of our farm. I had my paint horse and they had their ponies that I had bought for them. They had a blast and just loved it! We did it every year when they were young.

I used to be in Parade's all the time when I was a kid. I think it started when I was little and into baton. We used to practice several times a week to perform at the fair and in parade's. I think I was in a parade whenever I played little league baseball but I cannot remember that. I do know that as a cheerleader I was in a lot of parades and I was also in a few parades whenever I was a member of EMS. However, I haven't been in a parade in quite sometime.

My daughter marched in our Memorial Day parade when she was in the Brownie troop of the Girl Scouts. She carried the banner with their Troop number on it. It was a nice experience for her. When my niece did baton squad in high school, she got to march in every parade. One year I ran from one street to another to take numerous pictures of her marching along in her shiny blue uniform. I never marched in a parade, but when we were kids we used to go down on our bicycles and follow the end of the parade. It was silly, but we were sort of in the parade.

Yes, always! Since I was a little boy up until now. In fact this coming Saturday I'm gonna be in a parade. It's Sta. Cruz (Sta. Cruz-san in my country the Philippines). I'm going to escort my girlfriends sister. I don't have a choice my girlfriend herself ask me to because I'm taller than her sister and most of the male friends that she and her sister know looks dork when when their pair with her sister. lol Every time it's Independence Day all students around the country go on parade to celebrate the historic event of our country. I remember we hold with us small flags of our country. Also during high school week, back when I was in high school, there's a parade throughout the city and followed by some performances from the students, by year, and by the school's drum and lyre band. It's tiring but fun.

My mother use to make me be in the Christmas parade every year. First I started out as an angel on a nativity scene float, then I road in a tractor with my brother and tossed candy to all the little kids.

Yes, I was in a parade. Our neighborhood has a Fourth of July parade every summer. A couple of summer's ago, I was the Statue of Liberty in our Fourth of July Parade. I had my face painted silver and a silver outfit on and it was hot as blue blazes. The silver face makeup was running down my face. But it was great fun and quite an honor for me. All the neighborhood kids loved it and I threw red, white and blue chocolate kisses at them. They got a real charge out of seeing me dressed up, but many of the neighbors did not even know who I was. I would do it again in a minute if asked.

I have been in parades all of my life for one reason or another. Scouts, performing groups, homecoming court.... as a child it seemed my life was a parade. Come to think of it, life is still a parade just in a different way these days. haha

I was in a few parades as a child--I remember going with Girl Scouts many of those times. The on year I really loved was when I didn't go with Girl Scouts but I went with my baton twirlers class. I also seem to remember going with a church one year, but I think that was the first and last time I went with them. Now I wish I would've stayed in that baton class a bit longer...I was really good at it, but I quit because it wasn't challenging enough for me and my talents.

I was in flags when I was in high school. We did one parade when I was in it. It was a local homecoming parade. Nothing big scale. Neither of my kids have ever been in a parade.

My teenagers have been in a few parades. Both of my oldest boys were in the JROTC and they both marched in the Veteran's Day and Memorial Day parades in different towns. The Veteran's Day Parade in Fayetteville, NC was the largest parade they attended. I was at the time a member of the JROTC Booster Association and a majority of the parents walked along side of the students with water bottles and such just in case anyone got to over heated or anything. It was a fairly long walk for them. A few of the young ladies actually passed out. They all looked so handsome marching in their uniforms.

I was a bluebird and girl scout when I was younger. My troops were usually in Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Christmas, Easter Day Parades. It was fun to walk and wave at all the people along the parade route. I did get a little tired but the people cheering help keep me going.
