I hate plain water. I do force myself to drink at least a glass or two. We should be consuming way more than that. I can drink flavored water. So thats what i've been doing. My husband gets so upset with me because I dont drink water. As I said I now drink Vitamin Water. At first he didnt think it was the same. Then I did some research on it and found that it is recommended to drink Vitamin water as part of a healthy weight loss regiment. So I was a little happier. I must admit I drink alot of soda. I bet you if I stopped I would lose the 50 pounds and I am trying to lose. That's why I have been drinking the lemonade Vitamin Water. In hopes that it will help. I must warn everyone that it says only 50 calories on the bottle. However if you read closely there is 2 1/2 servings. That's how they get you. I just dont like tap water. I remember when I was young waking up and going into the bathroom and drinking loads of it. Now I hate the taste. What's your take on water. I dont drink from the tap because it has said to contain high levels of progesterone and benzodiazepines. I do buy cases of spring water for my family and animals. I know Its not a must but with my luck I will grow a third nipple or hair on my back! How bout you?

Water from the tap doesn't taste very good because of all the purifying chemicals that are put in it. I realise though that water is very good for me, and I bought myself a water filter, and filter the water into a jug. The water tastes much better this way, and I am drinking what I need to drink every day to stay as healthy as possible. - Derek

Yes, I think you will find that a water filter will make a difference to the taste of tap water. I hope you find one OK. - Derek

That's what I need to get. A filter would probably make it taste better without putting all those harsh chemicals inside. I just got really nervous when the city reported there was all kinds of things that shouldnt have been in the water. I am going to look into a personal water filter. I have seen several before but I just havent taken the time to research it. Now is the time. Thanks Derek! dl

Water varies from country to counyrt. In Australia tap water is good for you, but in Asian countries you should never drink it. I drink a lot of water, and now I'm back in Australia, I'm saving money by not buying bottled water.

Yes that is a big problem. Some of the third world countries fight over water rights. I wonder what they do in order to drink or obtain healthy water in those countries that dont have such safe drinking water. My uncle went to Mexico a few years back. Everyone told him before he left not to drink the water. When he got there they told them the same thing. He DIDNT listen. He had the worst case of diarrhea I have ever heard of. He had to be transferred to a hospital in Texas because of it. He was so dehydrated. I think he'll listen next time.dl

Your uncle should have listened to advice. I don't drink tap water in any country, until a local tells me it's fine, and drinks it themself. Some bottled water companies rip you off on the cost also, and even some of that in developing countries is sus.

I drink tap water ever so often. I am not much of a water drinker though. I usually like to drink it straight from the refrigerator tap more though. It is colder and tastes better.

I am not a big fan of water. Just recently I have been trying to drink more. I also drink crystal lite. That is the equivalent of drinking water. The raspberry is excellent. Try it. If you dont like regular water this will help. Good Luck!

Hello dloveli, I don't drink tap water as it is not advise to do so in my country. I normally boil the water first. But like you, I don't like plain water. I always have tea, fruit juice or anything except plain water. Many times I tried to drink 8 glasses per day but I ended up going to toilet more than I used to. Since I was a kid, I didn't like plain water and I just don't know why.

Water is soooo bland! Its tastes like nothing. When I was younger I remember getting up in the middle of the night and all I would drink was tons of tap water right from the faucet. I dont know what happened. Well I guess it would've have been when more people started moving into our city. THey set up a new water system. That's when they started putting flouride and all the other crap. It didnt taste the same. It tasted like dirt. smelled like it too. People started filling their own gallons from the spring. Our city had a big issue where they found all types of hormones and benzodiazapines in the water. I got scared and decided not to drink the tap again. I drink bottled water. Even then sometimes I cant get it down. Try Vitamin Water and Crystal Lite. dl

I keep a glass of crushed iced water with me at all times. I loved crushed ice so if that is the only way I can get it I will do it that way too. I eat the ice or let it dissolve in my mouth. But try to drink at least one 8 oz glass every hour. Take it like medicine if you have to. This is only a coffee cup so go in there fill your coffee cup up and down it like its cough syrup and go on about your business for another hour. I have lost 13 lbs in 4 weeks but water is the key. The days that I don't drink over 10 glasses of water I hardly lose any weight.

I think plain water is good for us when we are really thirsty, it could relieve our thirst a lot, while other drinks could not. However, when I am not so thirsty, not so desire for water, I prefer something like coca cola or orange juice or green tea.

You are right! Soda and some other beverages dont quench our thirst. There's no doubt about it water is the answer. Now all we have to do is make it taste good. Try Crystal Lite or Vitamin Water. dl

i try not to drink our tap water,it tastes disgusting. it's like licking a pipe, very metallic. although..after that nasty CAP water i had in arizona,i'll never complain about it again.that stuff is so loaded with lime,my skin was breaking out in rashes. i bought a filter for my sink out there, and within 2 months the whole thing was so lime encrusted i couldn't get it off the faucet to change it.yuck.

Hi there dloveli! I love water. I like drinking water. But I do not think I would drink water especially here in my country. Tap water in the Philippines is not that safe. It must be boiled to at least reduce the risk of getting sick or something. For us, we buy distilled water from water refilling stations. In fact, this is one business that has saturated the Philippine market. That goes to show that many people here would rather buy from refilling stations than risk their health drinking tap water.

Hi. dloveli. The only way that I drink tap water is if, I will boil the water first for at least five to ten minutes. Once this is done, I will pour the water into the pitcher so that it can get colder. I will place it on the freezer. When it gets icy cold after three to six hours, I will drink some of it. I love Vitamin Water, and I don't drink too much of this either. I prefer to drink Vitamin Water that has no calories in it at all.

This is a pretty good discussion, and I know that eating is very important when it comes to peoples everyday lives, because without food to offer energy, and nutrition then we would not survive, and I am sure that some people prefer to eat healthy and they will not eat anything that has grease or fat in it,and then I am sure there are some people who prefer to eat fattening and greasy food, and they will not eat anything that is healthy, and I am sure that different people have different opinions when it comes to water, and drinking it,I am sure some people drink water everyday and it might be the only thing they drink, and then I am sure there are people who never drink water, because they think it is nasty, and would rather drink other things instead of water, and out of ones who drink water I am sure some will not drink tap water, when it comes to me I do not like tap water, and I used to not drink water at all,but yesterday morning my mother told me she thought I was getting a kidney infection so I have been drinking nothing but water, and it is not that bad,and it is healthier so it should help me lose weight, have a great day, good luck with your life ,and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

I drink tap water, I always have. The only different thing that I have done lately is that since I go often to walgreens, I like to buy their red walgreens water bottles, they have some samples in it along with this week things where I am putting my vitamins in them. I bottle and put my water in the refrigerator, We drink more water that way. I am not sure why your husband is upset, all he can do is give you the example of drinking water or like you did, find a substitute for it. Vitamin water is great too, I hope you lose the weight you are hoping to lose. Good luck.

I love water the quality of tap water in England has improved and has always been safe to drink now they have got rid of lead pipes. In the old days we only had tap water as long as you let it run for a while it was safe.I only drink bottled water on long car journeys if it is hot.Or out for a walk in the summer normally we fill a container from the tap.The thought of drinking bottled water full time fills me with dread for a start all those preservatives in it to keep it fresh, plastic bottles pollute.Water stored in plastic bottles cannot be good for you.I suppose it all depends on where you live in the world but we pay water rates each month like everybody else has to ,to keep the water fresh and clean in England. As long as you drink two litres of fluid aday you will be fine, more if it is hot.Twenty per cent of liquid comes from the food we eat. You only have to drink a pint of fresh water a day, making the rest up with tea, coffee ,oola ect.Just think of all those preservatives in the bottles, animals drink from puddles and survive,I think you worry to much and listen to much ,there seems to be an expert on everything with no evidence they frighten you, besides have you had your water analysed ,you are spending a fortune on some rumour that is probably not true,do these things in tap water actually do you any harm.Your husband is right to worry about you, drinking all those preservatives on a daily bssis.

I am not a huge fan of water either...I will drink flavored water. So I got a PUR water filter and you can push a button and it will add flavoring to the water as you are pouring it or you can pour just plain water. It works great and I am not paying for bottles of water anymore and I get the flavoring and that forces me to drink it more often. Since I live in FL I need to drink more water because of the heat.

I love water, especially on a hot day, and don't like any sodas at all. Our tap water is fine to drink but I fill bottles with it and keep it in the fridge to chill it and freeze bottles of it for when we are going out so that it remains cold longer. I have flavoured water often but flavoured with natural things like mint leaves which I freeze in ice cube trays and add to plain water, also lemon or orange slices. If you try it that way you will be able to avoid the calories and it is really refreshing, no point in paying for water. Having said all that I could scream now as on what appears to be the hottest day of the year so far we have returned home to find no water in the taps, so can't replenish any water we drink, no shower, just great after a scorching drive in the heat, salad stuff will have to be washed with my bottles of cold drinking water. If I use up all the supply we will have to drive to the local spring water tap and refill all the bottles, many people around here prefer it to tap water but I only see the necessity of it in the next village where the tap water is undrinkable due to the amount of salt in the water.

I occasionally drink tap water loaded with ice, but that's about it. I really don't like drinking water very much. Even the flavoured stuff. I sometimes get bottled water from vending machines when pop or juice doesn't sound good or I'm really dehydrated.

At our place, the tap water is clean and I like its taste. so, when I am at home, I always take tap water. In office they supply bottled drinking water and it does not have any taste but since there is no other option I have to take it. In my opinion, if you take too much soda, it will cause acidity.

I love tap water! In toronto the tap water is extremely clean and i like to drink it. I enjoy drinking it. Taste is not a factor in whether or not i will drink it. I feel nice and refreshed after i drink it. The only downside with tap water in Toronto is that some of the pipes are old and there is a chance of some lead being in the water. But we use a brita water filter which takes away a good amount of the toxins in the water. You must know that soda is not good for you (i have to admit that i like to drink a coke from time to time) cause it's basically like drinking liquid calories. The problem is that they taste so good and then you start craving them and then you need to have them all the time. Try drinking fruit juice instead of soda and slowly transition all the way until you no longer drink soda.

Like you I don't like the tap water, at least not here in London. Not only does it taste awful, but I look in my kettle and washing machine at the residue it leaves and it is disgusting. I make a point to always have two large bottles of Evian next to the bed, they cost less than a pound each and for me it is the best tasting water. The other options are Buxton, Volvic etc but for me these taste like dirt. Your husband is right, drinking water is very good for you and you should be drinking more. It actually can do a lot more than you think in helping to lose weight. Try to make it part of your reigime by always having a bottle of water with you, that way you take tiny sips during the day without really tasting it. Also eat things like apples and watermelon which are high in water. These bottles of Vitamin water and the like are not water at all, they are a type of juice and have added sugar, though they have vitamins in them you should regard them in the same category as lucozade and coke. Not terrible for you but I would keep it to about 3 a week max. Try the water thing for a month and please let me know if you have any luck losing weight that way, I know I did and now I always have a bottle of water in my hand no matter if I'm thirsty or not. Good luck!
