I have put this under this Interest, as I am finding it harder and harder to understand People This morning I took my little Dog Gissi out like I do every Morning, we are walking along, and as little Male Dogs (or big ones) he lifts his Leg to have a Pee, next thing I knew, this old Lady was poking him with a Stick, telling him not to pee on her wall , I ask her to stop poking my Dog, she says not till he stops peeing, I then ask her what her Problem is, since when there is a law that Dogs are not allowed to pee on walls, and also what am I suppose to do stop him peeing altogether? She then says to me, it is not the Dog, it is the owner, I looked at her confused and said, " I am not peeing on your wall" She tells me not to get cheeky, well that did it, I am only just slowly getting my Strength back from being very sick, I did not need this, now I have been brought up to respect my eldest I always do, but this Lady was going to far, she was still poking Gissi with the stick, so I told her not to bother starting on me and to stop poking my Dog, I then walked away as I could not trust myself to say more, ( if my Grandmother would been there and heard me, lol, I would have got a clip round the ear and then she would have given the Woman what for) I did not want to I feel awful now, but it is bad when People who do not care for Animals start having a go about a Dog peeing on the wall, Gissi is a rescue Dog, he was badly beaten in the past and I was also worried that he might turn on the Lady with her poking him like that I have to be honest I felt like taking the Stick of her and poking her with it see how she liked it Now ok when they have a poo clean it up I always do, but are we suppose to carry bucket of water and cleaning stuff now as well to clean up when they pee I have to be honest though, as I watching Gissi that he does not turn, it did not seem to bother him, but he did keep the Leg lifted longer then needed and was looking at the Woman So, what is your opinion on this one

Question: Was it "her" wall? The thing is, a lot of people, don't like for dogs to go on their items. It leaves stains, kills grass, and to some: leaves an odor. Perhaps, if you take your dog to another spot, then you won't have problems.

Oh, then if it was a public wall, then she should have not had anything to say. Some people just seem to wake up on the "wrong" side of the bed, sometimes. Then again, to some people, it just comes naturally. What the dog did, may have been equal to her attitude.

Anyone poking my dog(s) with a stick is just looking for trouble. If it had been that Gissi was peeing on some prized roses, etc, I could understand if they asked me to move him along from their plants but a friggin' wall! No way under any circumstance does a stranger touch/correct my pet. Old or not I would not have stood for it. You were absolutely right to let her know what you thought.

If it would have been a Garden, which I never allow Gissi to do yes I could have understood, but this was a wall of I guess her House on the Pavement I had to walk away I was so angry, now if Gissi would have reacted to it then I would have had a good go, but he was not bothered in that sense

Whiteheather you said exactly what i was thinking! Poking a strange dog with a stick is just asking to be bitten or growled at in the very leaast. One never knows how a dog will react to a stranger or what the dog's history was before now when its a strange animal. Even a known pet can be unpredictable. My aunt has a dog who usually loves kids and one of the neices/nephews got too much in the dogs face one day and she bit their lip. Normally Maxie is the most docile thing that anyone could crawl all over or lay on or whatever but for some reason that day she wasnt in the mood for it. I know my little dog would have turned around and tried to snap at the stick. (My uncle tried to hook her with his cane once to pet her knowing she doesnt like him and had been told she isnt fond of men please be careful and he was shocked when she took a nip at him)

I guess the woman was within her rights to complain about Gissi peeing on her wall but she was NOT right to assault him. In fact, she could have been in a lot of trouble if Gissi bit her for her trouble. Dogs pee and poop against my front fence all the time. I don't worry about it, it's a fact of life. I clean up their poop if it's near my gates where I notice it but otherwise I don't worry about it.

It wasn't her wall it was a public one I think I explained it wrong there I always clean up his Poop as that needs to be done and he normally goes on the green but goodness at first I was speechless when I saw this Stick poking Gissi

Dogs are territorial creatures...they don't take kindly to strangers coming onto their patch, and this trait is reinforced in guard dogs.Being a Dog owner,You'll know how good their sense of Smell is too,and know that when cocking their leg on that old Bat's wall,it's the dog equivalent of a calling card to say he was in the area, and that marking simply reinforces his doggy social standing, letting the other neighborhood dogs know He's around. If She had a problem with him taking a dump on her doorstep, that would be fair enough,(not that I would suggest you let him do so..) but poking the poor dog and giving you attitude was over the line..You did good not gettting involved!

You should have taken the stick away from her and poked her so that she would have known how it felt, lol. There was nothing wrong with gizzi taking a pee on that wall. What do people want us to do with our pets, start keeping them at home and have them pee in the house? It is so crazy in the world these days, we can not do anything and now our dogs can not do anything.

You should of grabbed the stick and poked the lady with it several times. That's what I would. She was abusing the dog over something natural that wasn't hurting anything. Knowing how Gissi was when you rescued him, I'm surprised he didn't try to turn on the lady. But then, He did in a different way. Peed longer than was necessary. lol Good for you, Gissi. Lots of hugs!

Too bad Gissi didn't pee on her leg Elder or not, yes, I realize one should respect their elders but in this case that b!tch went too far by continually poking Gissi with the stick--I wouldn't have been so "nice" and would have told her off...it WASN'T her property that Gissi was peeing on so it was NONE of her friggin business

hi gabs thats horrid. poor gissi wonder he didnt haul off and bit that disgusting old lady. I am old too but I love dogs, spe cially little ones. with Gissi history he culd have, had he npt been the little gentleman he is, bitten her for sure, and I ]would have clapped while he did. I might have taken her stick to her had I been there, I wou ldve been that angry.I bet he was thinking take this you old bag , lifting his leg a bit longer to prove his point.what a nasty old woman, she gives us elders a bad name. this reminds me of an old man here who was loudly stating that he disliked all little old women, hes 96 but he was very sweet to me when I shortened my telphone conversation to let him use the phone, maybe as I am plump I didnt qualify as a little old woman. h he

Well I have to say I was surprised at him as I thought he would get scared, because of his background, but he didn't, it has proven one thing to me, he now knows I will never let anyone hurt him I did push her Stick which was her walking stick, away a few times, but not to hard as I did not want her to fall But you are right she is one of them that gives elderly a bad Name, but I know different, I know that there are good ones, most of the elderly here love little Gissi and always fuss him, lol, which of course he loves, whenever I come out the Shop most of the time, there is one there fussing him or talking to him lol Hugs to you

Poor gizzi was probably just as stunned as you were. Not to mention that the poor little guy has been abused and this poking by the woman was a sad reminder and he was probably wondering how to react to this.Your little guy had not been treated this way in the time you have had him so this just threw him for a loop and not knowing what to do. That woman had no right to be poking on him! Dogs have to go somewhere and they usually don't get it on the wall anyway (the small ones don't and many large ones either). I was also taught to respect my elders. But since being older I realize that elders only deserve respect when they earn it...just as we do. I mean no disrespect by saying this. They must lead by example and if they act disrespectful, as this woman did towards you and poor gizzi then she was due no or little respect. All the woman had to do was to say something, she had no right at all in poking poor gizzi. I do hope that you told gizzi that he was doing no wrong, that it was the woman that was doing wrong...he is probably thinking he did wrong and still a bit confused over the incident.

Hi Sweetie No he is fine which surprised me I did try to push her walking Stick away from Gissi but 1 she was old I was scared she might fall if I push to hard, and 2 Gissi might have turned on her thinking that the Lady was hitting me if I would have struggled with her Stick

I can´t say much more than the lady was nuts. How could any sane person think a dog can be taught where NOT to pee? And, please, a dog pee will not tear the****ing house down. I don´t usually swear but this deserves it. I´m only sorry he didn´t cut himself loose from you and went after his agresor. Take care and get well. Maybe, when you are better, you´ll be able to tell these people what they should hear. I had a wonderful friend that loved dogs. She was handicapped and old. Once we went for a week vacation together and as we walked very slowly (she with her canes), we saw 3 youngsters (18 year old or so) poking and hurting a dog. Gloria went there, her eyes in fire, with one of her canes up. She told them that if they went on doing that they would see what was good! The boys ran for cover. The bullies (even ladies) are usually very coward. I laughed until my sides ached. I miss my friend so much. So I´m posting here a picture of that outing and what she did with a doggy bag after eating at a restaurant. Take care

I think that I would have grabbed the stick and started poking the woman. I really don't like ignorant people and animals have just as much right to go pee or poo where ever and people should just get over their behavior. I get that where I live too and a lot of the time if I know the owner of the house is around I won't let my dogs on their property. But when they're away I could care less.

Well, maybe a spray bottle to spray it down. I can understand her not liking the pee, but I also would not take a stick to a dog, for just as you said, he might turn mean or angry. I would make sure to walk a different way with him, so they are protected from each other. Maybe she gets lots of dogs peeing there and it smells bad and Gissi is the first one she caught.Still did not need to poke him, but could have said something in a nicer manner.

I am an animal lover also. I do like to take care of my property though and do not like for other pets to come in my yard to take a pee or a poop. We have all kinds of animals around our home that do so because the woners let them run loose to do whatever they want to. They even let them poop in my yard and they never clean it up either. We do. I would make sure to try not to let my dog in other peoples yards or pee or poop near their property. I would clean it up also if it happened. This lady should have kindly talked to you about it though without poking the dog with the stick.

Hi there Steph Gissi was not on her Yard, the House on the Street or should I say pavement, so there was no yard just the wall, I would never let Gissi do anything on any ones yard or garden, as I would be out of order then As for the Poop I always clean it up, because if a Child would pick it up, or someone stepped on it I would never forgive myself so that is one thing that always gets done

Was it HER wall? I don't know. I probably would not like a dog peeing on anything of mine. Where I work, there is a bar in the same plaza. The guys walk down and pee by the dumpster. It smells so strong of urine when I go to take the trash out. My boss caught one guy right in the middle of his peeing and she did not care about his nakedness....she just lit into him. Maybe for this lady it is an ongoing problem with other dogs and yours just broke the camels back so to speak. Regardless, She was very wrong to be poking your dog. Besides once the dog is peeing...there isn't much you could do. He can't just stop mid-stream. I really don't know a good answer for this because you are right too...Unlike a human...dogs really don't have the fore thought to pick and choose where they pee...they just do.

hi gabs ... i guessed as it was the first time she should have just told you not to bring Gissi there the next time .. Poking a dog is not good at all .. Let me share a joke with you... it was in a movie actually .. this man, was high and mighty on his motor cycle .. he kicked on a dog which was lying down along the road .. not only that, he stopped and scolded the poor dog ... Later one night ... his motorcycle broke down and he had to walk tru the road where the dog actually strays .. Guess what ... the dog gave him a chase .. and bit him at "THAT" place Well the moral of the story is ... "never think animals especially dogs have no memory" cheers

OH my, I wouldn't want a strange dog peeing on my walls. I know how you feel about Gissi, but girl, he is still a dog and that lady had every right to ask you to remove your dog--- Sorry Gabs, but you and I think too much alike about our animals, but put the story on the other foot, and if a strange dog was peeing on your walls, would you like it? The lady had every right to ask, but also NOT to poke Gissi, Just keep Gissi on a leash when walking him and do not allow him in strange yards. Actually, he might get into something you wouldn't want him into----people will put out anit freeze to get rid of stray dogs---- So, watch Gissi. hugs, quita88

I always have strange dogs peeing in my yard/on my trees. Doesn't bother me a bit. What ticks me off is when their dog poops in my yard and they don't pick up after. I pick up after my dog whenever I take him anywhere and I expect others to do the same. I know someone who never picked up after their dog so know what I did? I picked up all their dog's landmines and deposited them on their step they use all the time. Next morning I could hear the cussing all the way down the street when they stepped in it. lol I thought it was very funny and they never let their dog come into my yard again after that. The next rain would of washed Gissi's urine off the wall so I think that lady was out of line.

I hate it when I hear things like this. My dog that I grew up with had it's leg broken with a stick because someone was sneaking into our backyard and got frightening and whacked his leg into two pieces. He was only a puppy. People are so insensitive and narrow minded. I have always been brought up to respect my elders too, but they seem to think that we have no choice but to deal with their cranky attitute. If that was a child having an accident in their pants on her front yard would she poke the child with a stick. I don't think so.
