Writing goal: 119 articles this month

I need to submit 119 articles to Helium this month, in order to get the fourth writing star. Since the 4 and 5 stars writers will keep their writing stars even when writing score goes down, it makes sense for me to get the 4th writing star as soon as possible. I force myself to write five articles a day. I dont have problem with writing ideas. My problem is keeping up the momentum. I think after this month of hard work, I will take a break from writing. It's really tough to write so much in a month. I can't write news, otherwise it's much easier to hit the target. I wonder how some writers can keep up with ten articles per day. Have you ever set writing goal? How do you keep up the momentum of writing?

One weekened I wrote 18 articles, so an average of nine per day, and then don't think I wrote anything for the next five days. It almost killed me but part of the problem was trying to think of areas to write to as I didn't really have a plan. As I work full time tend to aim for 60 articles per month, and ensure that I write at least one article per day, and make up the difference on Saturdays and Sunday. Try and aim at the sametime for $225 at the moment with a ten dollar increase each month from page views. Wehn writing give myself a deadline of when to finish an article by and then I will move onto something else, like playing a game, before going back to write something else.

just been doing some calculations and 10 dollar per month is a bit on the optimistic side although 5 dollars is achievable.

Made $27 last month and am on for about $35 this month, but I am looking for $5 increases each month. Just means that most of my new articles will have to be earning 10c per month, which means writing about Greek mythology is mostly out of the question

Mr. Tim, is there a way to tie the mythology topics to modern celebrations and practices? You could submit articles comparing Christmas to some early Greek custom or belief, etc. It could all be conjecture on your part but because or the key word Christmas and a few other well chosen ones like "gift" your article could be indexed and receive really good traffic.

I view my writing as a job. I'm not employed, there are no jobs here that I can do, so my writing is my job. My workday begins at 10, I have lunch at 2 then work till 4:30. That's 6 hours a day and that's plenty. Unfortunately, I have to work this weekend or I'd be at the library getting some good books. That's how I maintain my momentum. I even dress nicely during my "work day" and that helps maintain the illusion of a job I have to attend to.

Hi Dragon, that's very professional way of viewing writing as work. I like to write, otherwise writing more than a hundred articles in a month will kill me. Actually I prefer to write for my blog, I have less restriction when writing for my blog. I dont have to care about sentence structure or grammar or whatever. But blog posts do not make money. It will take a long time for a blog to get indexed and bring in readers.

Scheng, you have set a very big goal for yourself this month, but I understand you desire. Mine is the same, however, I don't think I can keep up with your work pace. I feel happy if I can get 1-2 articles per day to Helium. Most weeks, I probably end up with only 4-5 for the entire week. There is a strong incentive with maintaining the 4 or 5 star rating, however. I am now at 3 stars myself and could use the extra star just to stop stressing over it for the long term. I have 246 articles as of today, so I would need 54 more. I don't see that happening by the end of August, but I guess I can dream, huh? Good luck. It's a race to see who gets there first, the tortoise (me) or the hare (you). In this case, I think the lucky rabbit foot wins!

That should say "I understand YOUR desire."

Hi Art, it's a big goal. I can't stand writing the same kind of articles for long. I prefer to write a bit for Helium, a few blog posts for my blogs, and some reviews for reviewstream. Writing for blog and reviewstream is much easier than writing for Helium. At least I dont have to worry too much about rating and ranking and the word limit. Reviewstream needs just 250 words, and opinion based. Writing for blog is the best, I can anyhow write. Glad to see that you got your stars back. I need another 40 articles. I should be able to reach four writing stars. So tortoise, crawls a bit faster, once you reach 4 writing stars, you do not need to worry writing stars anymore.

That is a huge goal. My hat is off to you for even attempting such a lofty goal. Sometimes writing can burn you out (at least burn me out). I've worked hard on a piece all day only to find my brain threatening to explode out my eyeballs. Even the idea of thinking would give me a migrane. At that point it's time to back away from the keyboard. I think goals are incredibly important but sometimes we get so focused on achieving a specific goals that we forget we're more than that one goal. Life is about balance, no matter how much we want one particular thing. If we don't balance the various interests in our lives; we end up feeling harried and are ineffectual. For motivation for myself, I remind myself that if I don't work on what I want in life, it's not going to happen. So, if I want things, I work for them. Sometimes that means I reevaluate what I want, sometimes it's the kick in the pants I need. But stopping and smelling the roses can, at times, be the best thing anyone can do for their goals.

Burnout is a danger in the writing field. It's an easy thing to do. When you get absorbed by your work it can become all there is. I do work hard at my writing and try to keep perspective about it in the grand scheme thing. But writing is a passion for me and as such I tend to be happiest when I'm working. Isn't that the secret to finding the right job?

Hi Doris, that's great! Passion is definitely a must for writing. I think those writers without passion for writing will get sick of writing soon. After all, writing is mentally exhausting, and ideas have the humor to dry up in the middle of the article. Sometimes, the stupid ideas just pop out when you switch off the computer, and refuse to surface when you switch on the computer.

Hi Dori, I prefer to do different kind of writings in a day. Hate to write so many articles, and all in second person POV or third person POV. I concentrate on blog writing for now. At least I can relax and just write, without regards to the "magazine style" writings required by Helium. I think blog writing is much more fun than "magazine style" articles. Blog writing is a reflection of the way I use English in life, not the artificial and professional English in magazine. I think you work too hard in your writings. Helium has many titles that do not require much thinking, such as how to save money on grocery, how to save money on electricity etc. You can use the title, even if you want to submit the articles elsewhere. Majority of the my articles in Helium are book reviews. They dont earn much in passive income but most of them earn extra one dollar in empty title bonus.

Wow that's a whole lot of writing! I only started writing articles a little over a week ago and at the moment I only have 13 articles on Associated content and 12 on eHow.I haven't signed up for Helium yet but I plan to. I'm hoping I can at least write three articles a day if not more. You've written so many articles, I really can't wait to get on your level Scheng1....My plan is to at least have 500 articles by December. I'll be disappointed if I don't meet my target.I get so inspired every time I read about how many articles other writers have submitted or write in a day. It makes me feel like if you all can do it, then I can do it. Keep up the good work Scheng1!

Hi Blessed4life, since you are staying in the US, you can earn much more with less writing. 1. Sign up for Helium, search for a title. Right now Helium pays upfront only to the first five articles. 2. You can write an outline, those step-by-step outline and submit to ehow. 3. Develop the article to meet minimum word requirement, and submit the article to Associated Content for non-exclusive. You can get the upfront from AC. 4. Then submit the same article to the title in Helium. You have to hope that the number of articles in the title does not exceed five, then you can get the upfront payment too. As long as you do not submit as Exclusive rights to AC, you can repost the articles elsewhere. Another place to repost articles is Bukisa, to earn passive income. In this case, you can earn more while writing less. Writing 119 articles is not such a big deal for full time writer. But for me as amateur, it's almost killing

Hi Blessed4life, you have to write much more than a hundred articles per month to earn from writing! It's possible, since many writers are already doing that. Many ex-journalists are turning to writing full time online to make a living. One writer, Robert Dougherly, manages to write 2,000 articles in 18 months. He's one of those able to make a full time living from writing.

Well, I had hoped to have at least 100 helium articles before the end of the month but all sorts of things keep interfering with my day and I am lucky if I complete 1 article per day. Now I am having computer problems as well.

Hi Canellita, my laptop had some problems in the earlier part of the month. Fortunately I had the foresight to pay for extended warranty. Even then, I missed the use of laptop for a few days. I had to borrow the computer from my brother. Computers are so smart, they always break down when we need them most. Sigh, feel like giving the computers a good spanking. I need another 55 articles to get the 4th writing star. Already starting to lose momentum!

I barely eeked out one last night on handbags and purses. The borrowed computer slows me down some but I am now at the point in the summer where I have to start focusing more on other things and preparing for the return to the classroom. I have a deadline on Monday to apply for a festival but I can not get everything together without the files on my computer and I haven't made anything new that wasn't related to teaching so I don't have any new photos. As it is I must spend all this coming week putting my lesson plans together.

haha, once your computer gets well, you can write about the importance of computer in modern life. I think we can't live without a computer now. It's impossible to work and live without access to computer. Even though I can borrow my brother's computer, I still prefer to have my laptop.
