Had My Eyes Dilated Today

This was a joke. Had my eyes dilated today and it took 6 hours before the drops wore off. Couldn't do much on the computer, couldn't watch tv and couldn't work on crafts. I had a no brainer day and was lazy. This is the second time in less than 6 months to have this done. Anyone else have their eyes dilated and be half blind the rest of the day and accomplish nothing?

This is really weird, I went to the Drs at 8:30 AM and had my eyes dialated. I was going to start a similar discussion under health. My Dr. gave my eyes the best report they've had in years. With the rough time I've had with occular rosacea, that is wonderful! Hope you had a great report, too. Even if you did take my discussion! (just kidding), I can't believe with both had this on the same day!

Oops, sorry! Am trying not to giggle on this one. My report was very irritating yet nothing has changed. I had new glasses made less than 6 months ago and the previous eye dr., recently made a change, didn't make the rx strong enough. Today's appointment could have been avoided if the dr. did the right thing the first timem 6 months ago. After chasing around and having more tests done, I changed doctors and am in a much happier place. Thanks for responding and glad to hear you had a good report.

That is a problem with the type of exam you describe it may not give accurate results. So it may not be the drs fault at all just the way you reacted to the tests.

Many times!!!!!!! I am early stages of glacoma....bummer!!!....have to have my eyes dialated, and pressure checked every 3 months to follow the progressiveness of this eye disease...trying NOT to go blind...some days it is very depressing...but yes, having your eyes dialated seems to be a waste of your day...just am praying my eyes hold out so as not to go blind...that would really be a bummer...have grandbabies and try to enjoy them now before it gets worse...some days it is difficult to even put on make=up...but I thank God they caught it in time....have a great day.....

I am very sorry to hear that. I would hate if I ever had it done and could not do nothing because I could not see what I was doing. I am glad to see you are fine now though. Welcome back.

I was miserable for about 7 hours and then it cleared up. Everything is so blurry during that time. Thanks for responding.

I never have my eyes dilated anymore, My dr uses the new Optimat system which negates the need to dilate and lets him see more of the inside of my eye at the same time.

I'm about due to have mine done I guess. I have walked home after having it done a couple of times but, having the extra light getting in does give me a headache. I put on my reactolite lenses and keep my eyes down to minimise it. I've not even attempted to do anything like reading/crafts or using the computer for a few hours after the tests. I usually arrange them for an afternoon (so's not to waste a whole day) when I'm not working - so,it isnt too much of a problem.

Thank goodness I had nothing else planned today. I wasn't able to drive for 6-7 hours or even go outside in the sunlight. It's like a lost day when this kind of test is done. Thanks for responding.

I can't remember the last time this was done to me. All I know is I was a kid at the time and my mom had to guide me down the street till my eyes returned to normal.

You are exactly right. It wrecked my day doing anything exciting where I needed my eyes. Can finally see fine tonight. Thanks for responding.
