If you really need to sleep on the mattress to have a good night sleep. If yes what size of mattress that you prefer? Some people has no problem just to fall asleep anywhere. Some people really need this soft surface to sleep well. For me, i'm pretty flexible. Specially when I was still very young. Even fall asleep on the hardwood floor or tile. But not my husband. He need at least a soft cushion like couch to fall asleep, and it won't stay long. So for him, he really need mattress to have areally a good night sleep. Size of the mattress, for me myself it doesn't matter, for me and my husband king size will be better, because he turn around and around. Time to time I found his feet on the pillow instead of his head. How about all of you?

I am an all seasons person and can sleep on anything. When I was young I joined the girl guide movement and the regular outdoor camping has trained me to adapt to any sleeping condition. Though I have a comfortable thick mattress at home I can bounce back to sleep on a hard wooden surface anytime where ever I am. But I must have a good pillow to sail me through my sleep.

The thing is on the camping situation, I hate the bugs. Usually bugs are the one that make me awake couple times.

My husband and I have a queen size bed, fairly firm, and we sleep very well on it. When we travel we sometimes have a problem with the beds in motel room that have mattresses that are too soft. My favorite are the ones that you can adjust to your perfect "number". That's what we plan to buy next.

If I am tired enough, I can fall asleep almost anywhere, but I prefer to sleep in my own comfy bed. My husband and I share a queen=sized bed and I generally sleep on a small part of it, almost hanging off the bed. We have a memory foam matress on top of our pillow top matress and I find it to be very comfortable. My husband says that I find it too comfortable because at times, I am hard to wake up!!

Hi ibuemma... I do need something soft to fall asleep on. I would prefer that it be a nice soft mattress in a room with some kind of fan going which makes the room nice and cool...Ok I have to stop..Im getting sleepy from telling you..LOL..Now my hubby he falls to asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. Whether that pillow is on the bed or couch. I have to keep my eye on him..Cute discussion..

I can fall asleep just about anywehre if i am very tired....but whether my body likes that or not is a differnt story. When i was younger, it never really bothered me to just pull up a pillow (or a make-shift pillow) and pass out on the floor, if that was all that was availiable...but now, if i don't have the comfort and support of a matress, when i wake up my body is usually very sore!! As for what size matress i prefer, i like to have at LEAST a double, or full sized matress. A single will do, if that is all there is, but i like to have plenty of room to spread out. If i am sharing with a person, i would prefer to have at least a queen sized, but my boyfriend and i have been making due on my double..

This is a very interesting question, I must say. I used to be able to sleep comfortably on hard wood years ago, but that was when I was a regular yoga practitioner. Now I can't do this no more, I long for the Serta mattress which is just so comfortable to sleep on. Without it, I don't think I could get a good sleep at all.

I am flexible, I can sleep almost anywhere. I did sleep on pavement during camping once. It was a task and we were required to do it. Then again, I was probably too tired to care. For me, sleeping is not an issue. But I'll be in trouble if I change my sleeping place. I find it's hard to adapt and I might spend some time tossing in my bed before finally get to sleep.

once I fall asleep on the pavement surface when I was in college. I'm surprise that I actually did that.

I am one of those people that need a mattress to fall asleep on. I've always been that way. When I was a child and we would go camping, if we didn't have rollaway mattresses or air mattresses to sleep on, I didn't sleep very well at all. I used to be fine to sleep on a twin mattress when it was just me. Then, after I met my husband we used a full sized mattress for a long time. However, after sleeping on a king sized bed during our honeymoon, we decided that we needed a larger mattress and we now sleep on a queen sized mattress. Even though I have to fall asleep on the mattress, it is very common for my husband to fall asleep on the couch for a while before he actually makes it to the bed.

I'm a strange one, I like being on a soft mattress on a proper bed. But, I have difficulties sometimes to fall asleep even on a good bed. Put me in a car or an airplane and I would just doze off. No boats, please. I will be too terrified to go to sleep. It must be that boring motion in cars and that droning sound in planes that lull me to sleep. Maybe, I should get a water bed.

Maybe your parent used to 'rock' you to sleep when you are baby. I fell asleep in the car if I'm not the one that drive.

I'm a very picky sleeper (if there is even such a term). I can't fall asleep at all if I'm not in my bed, and yes, I need to have a comfortable mattress to sleep on. I can never fall asleep in planes or cars or in any sitting position, not even on the sofa. It gets really frustrating, especially when I'm super tired on a very long plane ride. Even in my bed, my pillow can't be too soft, too hard, too high or too low, and I need to be in a certain position for me to fall asleep easily. Wow, even I think I'm a bit too picky. XD

As long as I'm on my bed, I could easily fall asleep. My bed is a queen size bed with mattress. Even before, I was young I usually sleep on the mat on the floor. I could sleep. I wanted to be surrounded with pillow. Its like someone hugging me.

I pretty much just like that too. It's just sleeping on the airplane that really suck, especially if the flight is fully booked!
