Have You Ever Tore Your House Apart Looking For Something?

Yesterday I tore my house apart looking for some papers that I had put up. When I moved a little over a year ago, I had packed everything up and I haven't unpacked everything yet because I'm still not finished remodeling my house yet. What frustrated me even more was to find that the papers I was looking for were right in front of me the whole time. I'm not sure which is more frustrating, tearing your house apart looking for something and not finding it or just taking a step back and looking around you and finding exactly what you were looking for. Have you ever tore your house apart looking for something that you lost or misplaced?

Yes of course that happens before to everyone! I left my keys on the dresser. I looked and looked. I tore the whole house up. It happened before with my wallet. It's all annoying and it makes me upset sometimes, right? I try to keep my items all in the same place so I don't misplace them. It is a good strategy.

I have and feel so stupid. Heck I am always thinking that I've lost things, and they can be sitting right in front of me.

I have never actually torn my house apart looking for something. I have had to look high and low for some things around here though. No one puts things where they go around here other than me so I have to look for things sometimes if I have not already found it and put it where it went, which is what happens in most cases.

Hey singlemommy! I have done that more times then I care to count! I am constantly tearing my house apart looking for things that I can't remember where I put them and then they are usually somewhere right in front of me too! I get myself so worked up that I tear the house apart, still don't find whatever it is that I'm looking for and then when I try to calm down and start all over again and try to think logically I find them right in front of me! So I know exactly what you mean! And it is really frustrating because this happens to me alot! I have lived in the same place for about 29 years so it is even more pathetic for me!

Hi singlemommy! This happens to me all the time. Like you, my house is a mess of remodling and unpacking/repacking. I am always misplacing stuff! Ususally it's only after I give up looking that I finally find what I need, and if I'm lucky I find it in time for its purpose.

I am guilty of doing this on a very regular basis. I spend more time searching for something I put away than actually getting anything done around the house. Think what would work well for me is to make a list of where I put things and hopefully not lose the list! Am still looking for a list of afghans I knitted and how many stitches were used for the width and length. Just can't seem to remember where I put the information or why I moved it from the bag where it was stored for years. Then I get all frustrated.

Yes, I have done that before. Sometimes I will put the item some place where I won't forget it and then I forget where I put it. I hate when that happens. Then I'll tear the house up looking for it and still not find it. Then when I'm not looking for that certain item I will run across it and think I was just looking for this the other day.

i tend to do this every once in a while. i helped my 12 year old do this just last week in a hunt for her wallet (not that she had lots of money but she did have a film card in it). what happens to me is that i usually lay things down while i am doing other things and forget where i have laid the item down. i have down this with my glasses, pills, jewellry, etc!

I've done this so many times, its not funny anymore..lol. I always put things away in a place where I'll remember them, so thats what I say, until I need it then I can't find it or remember what I did with it. It starts a big fight with me and my husband, he says, "your always doing that, you need to pick one place for the important things and leave them there"..haha. It gets so frustrating when that happens, you've got your house all tore up, then all of a sudden its right there, you probably looked at it a dozen times and still didn't see it...lol.

Yesterday, I set about searching for no fewer than 5 things I've misplaced. I found the house insurance and car insurance policy documents - which were actually in the right places but I didnt see them first time around. I still have no clue as to the whereabouts of my photos from college (which I promised to scan to a friend); 2 CDs I had for Christmas or my driving licence ! (I do know where my passport is... but I have no current plans to use it)

I know that chore of looking for things is not even funny. Right now I am looking for my glasses and can't find them for nothing. I tried sitting back thinking about the potentiality of where I might've misplaced them and started looking and no glasses. It's so frustrating and I really need them. It sucks I know.

YES I HAVE! Two weeks ago one of my dogs lost his bright blue 1" wide collar with his tags. He only goes out in my small yard or is in the house. I searched for days...it drove me crazy...I even dreamt about it. I looked under and in every nook and cranny of my home searched practically under every blade of grass in my yard NOTHING it is still gone ...my friends' just say it will turn up one of these days!! It is still making me crazy although he now has a new collar and tags I still find myself looking for it.

I can remember the number of times I have torn rooms apart looking for something that I have lost. The problem is it can suddenly show up in an obvious place, where I had forgotten I had left it. I expect it to happen again too. - Derek

I've torn my house apart lots of time searching something of mine that I wanted and needed access to, such as a misplaced book or CD. Just last month, I tore my house apart trying to find my package of pens. I had just bought them not too long before that and I hated to go out and spend the money to buy another package. Then I lifted up some books that were on the table and their they were underneath. My uncle was the last one who used them and he put them there instead of putting them back on the table in plain sight. The really made me mad.

Hi singlemommy, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that looses things and tears my house a part trying to find it. I looked all day just here recently for a receipt for my books that I ordered from the college book store that I have to sign and turn back in. I still haven't found it I even went as far as to dump my garbage out and look through it. The most import thing that I ever lost was mine and the rest of my family's birth certificates. I was also remodeling my house and was moving things from room to room, I put all of the certificates in a large envelope and though that I put them on the shelve in my closet. I don't know what happened to them, I searched for them things for days and I never found them. I finally had to just go get more certificates for them.

Hi singlemommy Oh yes I have. It seems to be more a frequent thing now days. I am all the time losing something. For some reason or another it does seem to be some important papers that I need. I wonder why that is. Im hoping that now we are getting ready to move that I can be a little more organized with those papers. Good discussion. Have a great week and keep smiling.
