At what age did you stop reading teen fic?

I'm just wondering, because at 19, I feel a little.. dated to be picking up teen books from the library. What is a "good age" to stop reading these? I don't plan on quitting just because I feel too old for them, but I would imagine that eventually.. I'll FEEL too old to be reading them. Intellectually, perhaps. I can't explain it but I'm guessing you sort-of get what I mean. When did you stop reading literature aimed at teens?

I've never stopped reading them and I'm 34. I've also never stopped reading books that are for children younger than teens. I also read adult books, but my first love was and is still children and young adult literature. To paraphrase CS Lewis, a book worth reading at 10 is equally worth reading at 50.

Well said! I re-read Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfeild as an adult and still enjoyed it, though in a different way to how I read it as a child. I'm 40 and enjoy books of all kinds.

Well, I am 40 and I will read any book I want to, whether it is seen as children, teenage or adult fiction. I read and enjoyed Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and I am sure I am older than the typical reader of this series, but I still liked the book.

I am 33 and I still read books for teenagers every once in a while. Last year while I was ill, I borrowed lots of teenage books at the library, because they were easy to read, and they were a good way to relax. I also read books for adults, but in some periods of my life it is hard for me to concentrate on reading a long and complicated story for adults, and then I prefer to read some teenage books instead. When I was a teenager one of my favourite authors was a Dane called Hjordis Varmer. She has written many books about the 30's, the 40's, the 50's etc, and those books were a great way to learn something while I was reading a good story. I still like her books about the past, and when I discover new books by her I always borrow them.

I can't remember exactly when.until now,I browser over teen books.I even read the Twilight series.I don't think that teen books are really meant for teens.it is meant for everyone, even those who feel young at heart.

I still love reading young adult fiction book. It kinda brings the innate childhood imagination that lives inside me.

I think I started reading teen fiction at the age of ten. That's when I got hooked with Sweet Valley series and Archie comics. I also used to read Sweet Dreams and the Baby Sitters Club. Up until now, I read some of these novels but in a different perspective. It makes me smile on how gullible I used to be.

I'm still waiting for the last book of the Inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini & they're considered teen books. BTW...I'm 37.

no need to stop if you enjoy them. I'm 29 and still do. I like fantasy stories, and there seem to be a lot more of them aimed at the teen market, and often very very good stories.

Well I haven't stopped yet, but I have begun to read more fiction aimed at adults. To be honest, I haven't stopped reading kid's books either. You see, I believe the best stories are the ones that can be enjoyed by all ages. I don't think there's an age range on a good story. I still love Chronicles of Narnia, and I'm well past the age that typically reads those books. There are books that I feel too old for at times, but the best books can make me feel like a kid again.

I am 27 and still read teen fiction books. When I was growing up I had the Fear Street collection by RL Stine and I just realized recently that they have a few more books that I don't have so I have been getting them and reading them and yes there are times when I feel foolish because my ten year old could read this book but then I just go to the library and borrow a book thick adult book and then I feel like an adult again LOL I don't think it matters what age you are as long as you like the book than that is all that matters....

I'm 28 and I STILL read teen fiction. I don't buy it for myself anymore, but I check books out of both the teen and even the childrens section of the library. Sure, they might be EASY to read, but some of them have really good and interesting stories that I'd hate to miss out on because I feel too old for it.

I'm 36 years old and still read teen fiction. The first thing to consider is that many of the books marketed towards teenagers have content that is still relevant to adults. A book such as Hunger Games is aimed at teens, but the themes and ideas still resonate with me. I went to tech school and trained to become a library technician, so I read all kinds of books just to ensure that I have an idea of what is available. In my opinion, if the story appeals to you, read it without embarrassment.

I'm 19 and I still read those books occasionally. I always have to read other books for school that I enjoy, but when I go to the library and get a book I mostly go for the books that are aimed for teens. I don't know why. They're fun and interesting to read.

I'm 23 and I still find those reads interesting. lol I think it's fine, especially if it's not all you read. I think it's fine no matter what the age if you read some age appropriate stuff to stimulate your mind.

I am also 29 and loved Harry Potter. I hated putting them down to go back to real responsibilities and when I wasn't reading, I was thinking about what I had read I say, as long as you continue to enjoy reading, it shouldn't matter what you read.

As long as you enjoy reading it, then I'd say that you are not too old for it! I am 29 and just finished the Twilight series which is marketed at teens. I also really enjoyed the Harry Potter series.
