Insanity

Turning on notifications is a little insane. Last night I was catching up on 80 some odd notifications. It took me about an hour. This morning I get on here thinking it won't be nearly as many since it was over night. Ha! Double pay today and I'm looking at 109 notifications to look at. Plus all the responses to two of my discussions that I haven't gotten back to (deleted the notifications). Yikes. Trying to keep up with this is insanity. Shall I try? Or should I just go out shopping? Roses are red Violets are blue I think I'll do both How about you?

I am going shopping tomorrow. I am only responding to a few discussions today. I did get my college finals done today. Good news. I got an A in one class for sure. I am waiting for the final grades in two other classes. Keep your fingers crossed I did well in them also. (hope, hope, hope) I did get a lot of notifications but I don't have time to respond to them all. I started with yours, Dawn. Yes, that is right. You are my first. My first for today.

Hi mate, Well, if I were you, and even if I am still me. I would just do both. I also turned on all my notifications about a month ago. Hard to keep up, pinch some time here and there, come in get lost, forget what I ws doing in the first place. :-)

It is crazy isn’t it? I have about 40 to get to and it does seem overwhelming! I have already been shopping and now here I am. I considered not attempting to tackle the backlog but I can’t help myself; I am going to do some and leave the ones I can’t get to until next time. I have considered turning off the notifications but I can’t bring myself to! I hate to miss anybody’s posts! I don’t know how many I will get to today because I started late and tomorrow is Christmas but what the heck, I’ll get there!

I can understand. 109 notifications is crazy. If I had as little as TEN notifications, it would probably drive me crazy. This is why I keep my notifications.. OFF. If I really want to check up on a discussion, I'll write down the website URL of it and check up on it manually. I don't need notifications - it seems like way too much work for me. lol.

I am only notified on responses on my comments. I prefer to use "friends started" for new discussions - much easier and faster. Roses are red, Dawn is true blue. She's hoping for gain To keep her sane As she stays inside To paddle the hide Of the myLot crew. Her friends are all here To send her a cheer And help her achieve As she rolls up her sleeve To reach her target new.

I've not long returned from my trip - finished unpacking so sitting down for a break before getting dinner. I only managed about 10 posts on the "double" day - didn't try to break any records. Now I'm just catching up on responding to comments and I'll try to respond to new discussions in the next couple of days.

I think your best bet is to carry on as normal. I have not got all my notifiers on but my mail has been piling up too and a lot of it was not worth posting at all. So much for so many who say that they are not here for the earnings

I thought I was going to be able to be on a lot more than usual today, not just because of the extra earnings but ecause I couldn't get home. I didn't get to be at the computer as much as I had hope though becuase there were others who needed it. I have not been able to post much at all and I have a feeling the only day I will be able to catch up will be Christmas Day itself when there will not be many on until later

MysD, you mean that you got snowed in at work and have had to sleep there for the last couple of days? That is awful, although I guess it could be worse, because you could have gotten snowed in at your outlaws ... erm, I meant in-laws if you had any ... or something dreadful like that. I hope that they at least have a fairly comfortable place for you to sleep, and I hope that you can safely make it home soon. I was hoping to be on here at least a little bit on Christmas, but now I am not so sure. Hopefully I will see you around here before then, though. If not, then I wish you a wonderful Christmas, and I am sending you a ton of hugs! *HUGS*

I stated right from the start that I was here for the earnings. As I became more active, however, the earnings became secondary and the interaction is the most important part of being on here - the earnings are just a nice little bonus. I am glad that I happened to take a little time to log in today and check out what was going on, because I wasn't here at all yesterday. I have a lot of things to do before Christmas and very little time to do them in. I missed not being around yesterday, though, so I allotted myself a few minutes today to check in and see how everyone was doing, which proves that it is more about the friendships and interaction on here rather than the earnings. It was a nice surprise when I got the alert that today was double earnings, especially since I have never seen that sort of promotion on here. I must admit that I have been on here longer today than I had originally planned, but that is more about catching up on back comments than the extra earnings, which I am sure that you can relate to very well, MysD.

All this effort is driven by greed, mylot is paying double as you know. I admit it I joined the crowd, I could sure use a payout this month. No way will I make it without double pay and even then I don't think I have time.

I agree about the 'greed' part but the 'effort' ia not always as obvious. There ia lot of work for those dealing with deletions - I wonder if they get a bonus today too

I have never really considered how many deletions there are each day. But I do know there are many discussions I don't respond to because I've already answered that question over and over or I feel it may be deleted. But I bet the count will be up today.

I am not sure about greed being the motivation or how many people will use this to post irrelevant stuff that will only be deleted later, but I do know that Admin seems to be on top of things today, because my post count has gone down by two since I logged in this morning. I am not sure what discussion got deleted, because it is not one that I noticed, although it might be an older discussion so I might not notice it. I would think that Admin would need to be on top of things and try to keep up today, though, since it would be more work to delete and recalculate earnings later, especially when they have to account for the double earnings. By the way, have they ever had a promotion like this on here before?

My notifiers have been clogged with one liners all day, quite a few people nearly ended up being deleted as the discussions were so crap and overflowing my inbox. Still I got a really good sleep out of it all.

Hi purple, well they took over all my friends started list as well, at one point every discussion in there was from one person on my home page and they don't usually act like that. I'm sure I've missed some good discussions from friends as I delted all the emails and they would just have been lost in the swamp of one liners.

Fortunately I did not notice any one person dominating my "friends started" page, especially not with one-liners. I do have a couple of friends that like to start quite a few discussions per day, but they did not seem to do any more than usual yesterday, so it stayed at a manageable level. I did not really respond to that many discussions yesterday, but I went back and forth with several people, including you, on a couple of different discussions, so I still had fun and hopefully did well with the earnings. I think I stayed with "safe" discussions, or at least I tried to stick with safer ones, so that I would not lose the posts that I made yesterday.

I guess that I am fortunate to only have notifiers when people respond to a comment that I made on a discussion, although I rarely check my e-mail for them, either. I would definitely not want to be notified about all the new discussions today, especially since it seems like a lot of them will be deleted fairly quickly, anyways. I think it is great that we earn double today, but that just opens the flood gates for the one-line discussions, because people do not understand on a regular basis that we only earn for quality discussions and responses that we type ourselves and not for how many responses we get or how many one line discussions we can start in a day.

I know for me just having one discussion running today is creating a nusiance for my notifications, its like every time I get mail its all for mylot today. But I guess I saw it coming with double earnings today. Right now I'll probably just stick with one discussion for today and the rest just reply to others. If you do go out shopping good luck. I know around here traffic is a mad house and tomorrow I'm venturing out in it.

I miss my notifications. I've been having a problem with my myLot notification messages for more than a month now. I don't receive a lot. I lost track with the good discussions I've been because of this problem. I'll consider your situation a blessing since you don't have to roam around myLot to find discussions that would interest you. And 109 notifications sounds like good green money. shadow41

Hiya Dawn, I didn't have quite as many as you, but was shocked to see all the notifications I had in my inbox today. Even though I don't have everyone's notifications turned on I was amazed at how many I got. I had to delete most of them as I'll never be able to go through them all, but I did read through them first to make sure it wasn't something I wanted to respond to. I'm kinda picky sometimes when it comes to discussions ya know. But then again I kinda have to be with being on dial-up and all. LOL Happy mylotting and happy holidays! Hmm, maybe you should just go shopping instead. Can I go with ya? LOL

I too had a field day yesterday and today going through all the notifications. I wanted to take leave from mylotting but forgot to switch off the notification thus flooding my emails with them. Mylot is putting extra burden on christmas for us. They should allow this double to run till new year. It is effective, even the sleeping mylotters are revived and for first time in months.

I agree, Dawn. It is pretty insane. I did not have 80 notifications, but some 30-40 on the days when I am active and participate a lot. One day I opened my mail account and there were just 44 notifications from one discussion that I had started. That took me a couple of hours to get rid off. I earned a lot, that is true, but when you see all those notifications at the start of a day, it looks crazy.

Oh Alice, you just had to remind me about those photos, didn't you?! I still have to do the wrapping and get the house clean before Christmas. Well, clean is not really the appropriate term, since it is not really dirty but more disorganized. We are in transition right now, so there is a bunch of stuff stacked up all over the house that we have to go through. It seems like as soon as we make progress in one area, somebody else decides to dump a bunch of stuff on us, and we are right back to square one. There is a lot of stuff that can get thrown out (like old papers, out of date warranties, etc.), but it still takes time to go through them to make sure that we are not getting rid of anything important.
