Brillient start to 2010! Two intense cycle rides! What have you done?

I'm an enthusiastic cyclist and I must admit, I was starting to pile the pounds on! So, I decided that I would get out there on the bike once more and try and achieve something! Yesterday was Saturday and I went out for a long cycle ride and I really pushed myself and I feel great! I also went for a long cycle ride today and my lungs are bursting with energy, where did this come from? This is a great start to my new year and I have decided that I'm going to get on out there for a few hours cycling daily. So, have you done anything dramatic in this New Year in order to make you feel good? I'm not going to waste another single day! Andrew

Hi Andrew, exercise will keep you cheerful so good for you. Nothing that dramatic for me, but we had fun today raiding a mandarini tree, bursting with fruit. It did involve quite a lot of jumping to try and reach them. An excellent start though with free fresh food and a new marmalade recipe in mind.

Thea, I am just trying to picture you jumping for oranges. I would love to be able to go outside and do just that.

Hello thea and happy new year to you! Yes, I do feel better from having cycled two days in a row! It's my intention to keep up with it on a daily basis, my lungs feel amazing! That sounds like a fun exercise indeed! Reaching for mandarins, it's great to have so much access to good fruit! That's something I could improve upon this year, eating more fruit! This is an area of weakness for me and I don't have enough fruit and vegetables in my diet. Well, I hope you will be very happy in this new year thea and you must share your achievements so that we can all celebrate together! Andrew

Jumping for them can tend to make them land on ones head unfortunately.

Hello Andrew. Over the last 5 months, I've lost 21lbs without really trying. We had a holiday in Germany that involved a lot of walking, and autumn in Spain has been hotter than usual, so I've been swimming every day for at least an hour, and living on fruit and salads, because that was all we could face. I llok and feel so much better for it, I want to lose some more - and I could certainly do with it. Our local Town Hall is running belly dancing classes, and I've signed up - I start next week. This morning, I weighed myself, and I've put on 2lbs over Christmas and New Year. Okay, it's nothing major, but I'm stopping the rot here and now. I went down to the market this morning, and bought lots of fruit and vegetables. I'm having a week on the Cabbage Soup Diet, which will shift those extra pounds and a few more besides. My neighbour and I are going to our local indoor pool twice a week together, starting Tuesday, when she gets back from a couple of days away. It's mild here, but too cold for the outdoor pool, so until we can go in again - probably March - we're going to use the indoor pool. Whichever one of us doesn't want to go on the odd occasion, the other one is going to cajole her into it. I think I've covered my wellbeing for the New Year and, like you, I'm not wasting a day.

Cabbage soup and vodkaThen off to the belly dancing2lbs is about 4 kilos or is it the other way round. I've managed to put on 3 kilos since the breadmaker which is actually good for me.

It sounds like you are getting off to a great start in this new year. Once upon a time I used to be a regular swimmer and I think it's the best form of exercise there is, cycling is next on the list I think!. It's always nice to start a new year on a bright note and you feel so good when you become active. Anyway, I hope this year is a great one for you. Andrew

I have not done anything healthy like that. Good job for you to have done it. I wish you all the best in being healthy in the new year. It is actually too cold and snowy here to cycle right now where I live.

Ah! That is one disadvantage! I never like cycling in the snow, well we hardly have any snow over here in London. Still, I hope the weather improves so that you can get out there and enjoy the freedom that cycling gives you. When I'm on the bike I feel like another person completely! I push myself to the max and by the time I return home I'm sweating and my shirt is soaked through and I guess I'm getting a really good workout. Anyway, I hope this year proves to be a great one for you. All the best. Andrew

I writing and reading a lot, which is acceptable to me. My goal is to read is 100 books in 2010; I have 99 to go. I am hopeful that I will get into better shape in 2010, well as to submit my own literary work to 10 journals and/or contests.

I'm sure that you will do very well with this goal. It's nice to have goals and plans for this new year. I have some specific goals of my own, I would like to get out there and socialise more and meet new people. I too love reading and writing. My Lot is the best place for writing I think. I have various articles and short pieces of fiction published on the following sites, Triond and Helium. It's nice to get creative in terms of writing. Anyway, I wish you all the best with your plans and may you have a very successful year. Andrew

Good for you, Andrew! Oh how I miss my bike that I had while living in Michigan and Florida. Back then I was soooo healthy. Hopefully, I'm going to start walking twice a week with a fellow resident here in my building. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

If you can you should return to cycling! I love it so much and it gives me so much freedom. It's funny because I went for a cycle ride yesterday and today, as I sit at my computer, it's snowing heavily and they reckon we could expect up to 40 centimetres! That's my cycling over for a short period! I don't mind the snow but this is the worst we've experienced here in London for a long time, thirty years they reckon! Well, I want to keep the trend going in terms of my cycling and keeping fit. Walking is nice too I suppose although I don't like that form of exercise myself. I would much rather do any walking inside my flat on my gazelle freestyle machine which simulates walking and running. Andrew

Hi Andrew, Well done on getting back on the roads, one of the things I was happiest about was getting back on the pavements and going for a nice walk in the snow ~ Laughs ~ I love the snow and the quiet that comes with walking when it is quite early. Heavenly, though having the sunrise shining in my eyes is a touch annoying lol. Other than that my other favourite thing was beating a really annoying jigsaw that had been bugging me 3 days before the new year and which I finally finished on the 1st. I was so happy with that and look forward to conquering many more in 2010 (because I just know how to party lol!!). Actually a thought to, returning here is something I am proud of. I went on hiatus for a few months and came back yesterday. I am happy with that as it means I can start earning again ~ Fingers crossed ~ Hopefully. Small compared to yours but they make me happy All the best and I hope 2010 proves to be a great year for you, Dranz

Hello Dranz and happy new year to you! It sounds like you have a few ideas in the pipeline, that's great. I guess you need to have a lot of patience when tackling puzzles, I have never tried! I think I'm obsessed with the weight thing now! When I return from a cycle ride I dig out the weighing scales and have a look to see where I'm at! My lungs seem full of air now and it's amazing how cycling brings about this enormous change! Anyway, have a great year yourself and I hope you will share many of your achievements here. Good luck. Andrew

Yes, and I for one am glad to see you back, Dranz. It may be a small step, but lots of small steps can be combined to make a giant leap forward. I think you're at the beginning of your leap!

We've worked, gone to the library, and gone skiing. It does feel like it's been a productive year so far.

That's great! When you make resolutions for the new year it's best to get started straight away then there's no danger of falling away from the path as it were! I have never tried skiing and that sounds really exciting! Well, good luck for this new year. Andrew

Mine doesn't have anything to do with exercise. A great time that has happened to me in 2010 so far would be going to the mall at one of the restaurants with some family that I don't get to see that much. The good thing was that I ran into other family there and then even more family that I had not seen in years. Altogether some of my family that was there had not seen each other in over 10 years so it was a good time to reconnect.

That sounds like a great experience and something quite special I would think. That is absolutely brillient news and a fantastic beginning to 2010. I'm sure that you will all remain in contact now throughout the year! Well, it's my intention to keep up the pace now and hopefully go from strength to strength! I will also dig out my Rocky Balboa cd and listen to this powerful music and it will make me feel so powerful inside! I love to do this when I am exercising! Andrew

Well, that's a great start and a good goal to have. I too would love to post a lot more on My Lot this year but I guess it's finding the time to do it. I will try to devote most of my time here in the evenings. Today, I'm studying for most of the day and then I will get out there on the bike later on in order to clear my mind! I hope this year turns out to be truly excellent for you. Andrew

That is an awesome start for a new decade and year! Unfortunately I've begun this year by sitting home, eating unhealthy junk foods and playing video games. Hopefully I'll feel more productive once I get back to school and start the second half of my soccer season.

Thanks! Oh, and a very big welcome to My Lot! I also have a weakness when it comes to eating junk foods although I have made the decision that I'm going to try and cut back on this year hence the major cycling and keeping fit. Once you return to school there will be no stopping you! Well, I wish you all the best. Andrew
