As spring time approachs many an idle young mans thoughts may be influenced by some ideological movement, and some, hearing of the glamour and attention of being a young terrorist, take off to mountains unknown, to learn themselves a new trade. It's a dull time over there though, much more boring than they thought, no running water, no women, no TV. With just a few distractions their minds could be persuaded away from these things and these youngsters seduced into more normal lives.
So what should we send to distract them from their ideologies?

So they'd need the money to pay for the women but probably wouldn't bother if video games were on hand. They might get in trouble though using the generator for that as it's needed for all those dodgy satellite phone calls, so it could prove to be quite useful if they all got hooked.

and then there's that hazing stunt of convincing new recruits to try and take down a plane by setting their underwear on fire....it uscks to be a freshman terrorist.

On the contrary X, I think if you start dropping all those kinds of things down into the mountains they'd soon be taking no notice at all of the seniors and would be flipping them the (not sure of the term) as most youngsters do. The cd's are a most excellent idea as would drown out the sound of the instructors nicely. Don't forget if they aren't nice to the recruits they might end up having to blow themselves up instead and they don't want to do that, they need to sit it out for the terrorists pension scheme.

thea why a whole troop of the best women dancers from the US as everyone knows that in the spring a young man's fancy turns
to love, and some of these young women dancers from that
Tv program that I just forgot the blasted name of are so
pretty and so skilled in dancing they are bound to entice
the men away from the ideas of making human bombs out of
themselves. as the lamb said, boobies.

Lovely idea Hatley, we must never forget that these terrorist want to bes were probably really spotty teenagers with no friends and they are just looking for a group to fit in with. They's all become a bit more normal if forced to think of love instead of guard duty.

Before the boobies can have any great effect on these misguided young men they need to consume large quantities of a special energy drink...100 proof would be nice. This energy drink will help to expand their minds so that they can appreciate the greatness of the boobies.

Exactly where are these young men who want to be terrorists? In Greece?
It's okay to be influenced by idealogical movements, provided they have a productive and peaceful outlet.
It's a bit difficult to answer this, as I dont think too many Aussies want to be terrorists. Those that do, are so caught up in their beliefs, that nothing will change them. So we offer laws. There are enough distractions here.
Perhaps these youths you refer to could be offered education, as in training courses. Do these youths have money, or do they get government benefits? Perhaps they could be offered part time jobs?

Hi Jenny, I think you may have missed the joke on this one my dear. It was a bit of fun at the expense of all those who rush off to join up with jihads and terrorist training squads, I was thinking more of Yemen and Afghanistan, not Greece. They wouldn't think of doing things like that here, their Mama's would kill them.

Yes, I didnt really get it! Couldnt figure out why Greeks would want to join terrorists groups.
It's partly a cultural thing too, as we dont have any real emphasis on youths joining terrorist groups, in the media or elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I don't think the women and the boobies would work. Because I read or heard somewhere that if they blew themselves up, they would be met by a 100 virgins when they go to heaven. It would be hard to distract them from their ideologies with this kind of incentive.
Although, I wonder why a young terrorist would agree to have a bomb in his underwear? I would think it will render him useless when these 100 virgins meet him.
So what will we send them? I suggest old reality TV episodes of Beauty and the Geek, What not to wear, Extreme Makeover, etc.

Hi bounce, I imagine they are all still a bit wet behind the ears when they first join up reality tv shows may not be that distracting that they want to miss a days training for them. On the other hand if someone sent a camera crew over and made them into a reality TV show I'm sure that that would turn their heads around enough as they'd all want to be rushing back to get on the celebrity E list.
