You may be aware and alert about strangers lurking around in lonely and dark places. You know of the dangers of rape and molest. But...have you given any thought to the fact that peeping toms could be on the look out for a 'free show'? There are people who have sick minds and goes around to peep what others are doing in their bedrooms. With thousands of people staying away from homes and renting rooms and living space there is the danger of peeping toms in these shared quarters. You can't choose or know the true character of your neighbors. Close proximity can provide the right opportunity for peeping toms. While there is no physical abuse there is mental abuse and a victim of a peeping tom can also experienced much fear and anxieties in the days follow. Peeping toms may not get reported or dragged to the police station but there are some that lurk out there ...waiting for a chance to get a peep and whatever else that may follow. But what do you say of hotels putting up hidden cameras in their hotels? A popular politician in my country was caught with his pants down by this hotel CCTV and was leaked to the hungry media to sensationalize the whole drama of his one night stand with his mistress much to the embarrassment not only to him but to his family. This poor fellow has no option but to resign from his cabinet post and made a public apology saying 'a curtain should be drawn between his private life and his public life.

Yeah, it happen to my place right after a few hours after my family celebrate New Year. We're all tired and exhausted and went to bed. then, i am arose from my sleep when my niece whose room is beside me shout that their is a thin, and dark guy standing on down on his lower feet on her bed. So the guy run as fast as he could though my niece have not see clearly the man face as the room is dim light. I do not know the guy purposes as he manage to open the back door so the first day of the year for us comes out in a lot of fear that we install additional security and extra lock. We;re just thankful as no expensive item are stolen from us or maybe he is just a plain pervert who manage to go inside our room without being notice. So were all in full alert and install a front and back light which stay lighted every night for stopping the stranger to come in my home. I do believe their are lot of sick mind and to avoid being taken at full advantages one need to be more cautious to avoid being victim and need to be extra vigilant of her surrounding for suspicious character.

That was a scary incident. I just could not imagine what would happen if your niece has fallen into a deep sleep. It would have turned ugly..

hi zandi thats awful hidden cameras in hotel rooms. how evil here in the US we have had the s ame sick thing with womens dressing rooms in some clothing stores where male sickos are caught peeping through hidden holes in the walls to do whatever it is that makes their sick minds day. I have got to the point where I examine a room for any odd little holes or strange things sticking out in the wall. if it looks iffy I will choose a different dressing room. hope they can catch all these evil men before too many women are ogled unknowingly.

Fitting rooms are another place that you should be careful about. Check to see that there are no holes or gaps in walls or doors that allow others to see in. Don't take for granted that it is safe. These sickos know their targeted place.

Curtains or blinds are there for a reason, unless you've ambitions to be an exhibitionist-nobody should undress in front of an open window with the lights on,whether alone or being loved up,unless you're preparing for an audience ..As for perving over a peephole while others are rearranging the furniture inside the next room..if they're caught, they deserve what they get.Being in the Hotel business,I was a bit shocked to read an article recently about an American Hotel that had a Female Sports Reporter staying, and a Male Guest Asked for and was GIVEN a room beside Her... If you think that wasn't irresponsible enough,The guy somehow was then able to interfere with HER room's security peephole so that He was able to film Her inside the room! I dunno what the staff of this place was thinking when they did this! to be filed under "How to Lose Guests and go out of Business quickly"..

It is better to put up in 5 star hotels to avoid getting into the trap of peeping toms. They sure deserve to be stripped out of business if they don't respect their customers privacy.

I believe there are hotels putting hidden cameras. There were news before actually that proved there were and they were actually caught and were put to close and penalized too. Those are actually not the first class hotels but the second class motorists hotels which are more commonly called motels. But not all motels do that actually. There are those who do and gladly some of them were already apprehended. I think a stiffer penalty should be imposed for this kind of misbehavior. Every one's privacy deserves to be respected.

I agree with you that individual privacy should be respected. These hotels, if they need to put camera, should only be confined to the lobby.

hi Zandi, I have seen a similar kind of situation at our place---the victim was the honourable governor of our state and he was 85 year old who was making love with three young women.its unfortunate that he was a womaniser and all the bad things he was doing in his bed were recorded by a news channel---it was shocking though.he had no other option but resign his post in disguise of bad health.A person who can actively participate in love making couldnt handle the post anymore once his true colors were out int he public.great day.

he was known for trafficking younger womens especially for his pleasure--so its obvious that the news channel would keep an eye on him and he was caught red handed intially the channel was blamed for making statements against the governor later they had to shut their mouth---coz they have shown the video which included him with three other girls

Um, my bathroom doesn't have a window, so no problem about that . Also the windows are not transparent, so unless I open it... There are many kinds of sick people, unfortunately, like underwear robbers -that's why I never hang my underwear outside-. What I don't agree is using the cameras in public places for something other than security, as people's privacy is very important.

Bathrooms are the most targeted area for these peeping toms but since you have yours well secured then you need not worry. I think hotels install these cameras are for security reasons but it should not be installed in rooms as it will drive away potential customers.

Hi Zandi,I'd be mortified if someone filmed me when I am in a place that should be private even if I were not doing anything worth watching! It is just the idea of my privacy being violated that would get me. As for that politician, sure it is wrong for him to have an affair if only for one night. Still, that is a problem that should be kept between he and his wife. It is not anyone else's business. Also, the media invaded his privacy. All those responsible for this blatant invasion should be reprimanded and their cameras revoked.

Surprisingly the politician did not take any legal actions against the hotel or anybody responsible for invading his privacy. I guess he must have been too embarrass to even talk about his scandalous affairs that has awaken everyone's curiosity and cause a public stir for a while.

Hotels in your country are putting hidden cameras in their rooms? Good grief, is that even legal? When I check into a hotel, I expect my privacy to be respected, I don't expect the management to bug my room. Is this common practise or is it only this particular hotel that's done this, as far as you know? If it is only this hotel, I hope it's been well publicised so people know not to stay there!

Maybe some hotels do put up their CCTV but it might only be at the lobby or their corridors. In this particular case, it can be politically motivated, someone was out to kill his political career. It was even posted in the net but the face was blanked out. This is an isolated case. All hotel management should respect the privacy of their customers to stay in business.

I know this is slightly off topic, but I've heard really scary stories. There was this one couple who would hear their house creaking at night when they were doing their 'deed'. Well, turns out, the landlord had cut a hole in their ceiling and was watching them from the roof at night. Ick!!

You are welcome to come to my posts and I am not that particular whether you go off topic. Your presence is what I treasure. Huh..that is stupidity of the landlord. He must have gone out of his mind.
