Two suns?

I was up early and just before the sun came up, I went back to bed - not to sleep (tho that would've been nice) but mostly to warm up. Meanwhile, the roomie had gotten up and went to let the dogs out. She said something that I didn't hear so she came to the door of the bedroom and said. "Either the apartments have a really big flood light out there or there are two suns." ???? "Huh?" I asked. "And one of them is coming up in the wrong direction," she added. So, I drag my sorry butt outta bed and go see what she's talking about. Seems the sun was reflecting on the windows of the complex behind the house (on the west side) and that was what she was seeing. I explained what was going on and she did agree with the explanation. She didn't THINK we'd gotten a second sun (and it would probably be warmer than it is if we did!) I did tell her when the complex first went in we had a problem with their flood lights beaming in our back windows, but they had adjusted them (I think the actually put them on poles in the lot rather than off the building.) Remember, the roomie doesn't have the best vision in the world and its made MUCH worse by bright lights... So, you ever have someone make a comment that actually makes you go investigate what they are talking about?

I think I would have gone and investigated that too! Usually I have an explanation first though.

I was figuring it was reflections, but some people around me (not so much the roomie) don't like it when I do my "figuring" ("You are making that up aren't you" has been said to me.)

And then it becomes obligatory to find out if you're right!

Actually, tonight she confessed she guessed it was either a reflection or a big security light - tho WHY they would turn it on at DAWN I don't know (and I don't mean you Dawn)

that just sent a chill up my back. i had heard a sun comment before(mom asked why the sun was up so early)-and did investigate... turns out,the house behind us was on fire.the orange glow was shining in the windows. (i had a cold,so smelled nothing) no one was hurt back there, but it was too close for comfort.

that sounds like something she'd do.thank god the houses have a pretty good space between. the dog must have been still protecting the man.well, thinking he was. rescue/EMT workers must cringe when confronted with those huge dogs..

Quite often when my husband doesn't have his hearing aids in, he will say what he thought he heard. One time he thought I had called him a name. I laughed and told him if I was going to call him a name, it wouldn't be that one. Since my husband only has his hearing aids in for part of the day, he comes up with some doozies. When you said two suns, I thought you were going to say that the sun and the moon could both be seen at the same time. That happens a lot up here and some people have never seen it before. The inmates we had from NYC, used to freak them out when I was teaching them.

When we were driving home this evening the moon was out and the roomie was kind of surprised - I told her that the moon would be full tomorrow - and it was rising in the east like it should!

we think the reason she'd never seen it before was because the tree that used to be there is now gone

I don't think that has ever happened to me. If someone says something, I'll act like I believe it and then check it out later, but that's a little different. I probably would have had to go check it out also. Course if I didn't want to get out of bed, I may not.

well, the alarm was going to go off anyway, and I had warmed up a good bit - but I think she was going to say the thing she thought would get me up... I swear, there are days I just don't want to get outta bed, but work days I do have to get up!

I don't work anymore so I don't usually have to get up. I still try to so I can exercise and make some phone calls. If I don't do it first thing I know I won't. Some days I do just stay in bed though, especially weekends when it's cold outside.

My son thought it would be kool to put one of those buzzers he bought at a lawn sale, at the end of our driveway that rings in the house when someone drives in.. It goes off when the wind is blowing and of course we all get up to see who's here.. haha! It's a pain! But the story about two suns made me imagine two suns.. which for a moment was better'n a science fiction book, thanks!

You gotta remember, that she is visually impaired, she can't really even see her feet! So, all she saw was a blinding (well, more than normal blinding) light coming from the wrong direction...

Something that my husband says frequently confuses me until I check it out. However this occurs so frequently, that once I get it straight, I just forget about the confusion.

well, she even figured it was either reflection or a big security light (since she didn't think we had started rotating in the other direction) but the sun seemed to be rising in the west... that was unexpected for her... besides, she was trying to get me up outta bed....
