Have you ever done something just to see if you could get away with it?

This morning when I saw the green myLot and discovered that it meant today was payday, I was seriously tempted to post a discussion like "where did all my earnings go" and then turn it around into something different just to make it not be a violation even though the title would have made it appear like one. Yep, I admit it. Every once in a while I try to do something (relatively harmless) that is against the rules just to see if I can get away with it. I guess it's the "I won't grow up" in me (insert child smiley here). Actually I can't think of the last time in the real world that I've tried to pull something and gotten away with it. That should tell me something, huh? Do you try to get away with things just to see if you can?

No I really no longer need to do that for myself any longer. I have two teenagers that I can watch do that...and live through them

OMG, D! You've caught me! I do this quite often, and so far, it's worked. I figure, when the other shoe drops, it'll hit me hard. I can't stand my boss, so I do these things at work...

Heheh, there is no harm in doing so! Kids are always testing grown up if they can get away with it. It seems that even grown ups have the same habit! I am trying to think of something....ok I found one... I do supervision duties by opening the computer lab during the break. I was feeling lazy and did not want to go. So I ended drinking coffee and lazying about in the staffroom. I received a phone call from my assistant head telling me.... to open the computer lab. It was raining and the kids did not have nowhere to go. Finally I did not got away with it but I tried.

I think everyone tries something that is against the rules every now and then to see how flexible boundries and see if you can push them just a little bit. I'm sure it is part of human nature

Yes, I have...in real life, though, not in the lot. I'm tempted to do something like that in the lot...rather than just plain, silly ol' me, hehehehe...but plain is boring but nice. Sometimes, I try my best to hide my young and dangerous persona. Alright, don't listen to me, just rambling nonsense. In real life, I keep saying rules are meant to be broken, but I keep mending rules that have been broken each time. And then breaking them up again..and mending them again. Bad habit..for now, I've to find the best solution to stop smoking..

I am pretty insecure so I follow the rules, if I don't it's because I've screwed up not because I want to play games.

Hi Dawnald, When I was a kid I used to try all sorts of things just to see if I could get away with it. I know you can send letters for free and you used to be able to make long distance calls for free...not sure you can do that one anymore. Anyway, once I turned 18 I knew that getting caught would mean more than just a slap on the hand and I wasn't willing to risk it. Oh wait....what am I saying? Just today, I lit up a butt on property where there is no smoking. got away with it too.

I am not escaped, I was still stuck to retrieve it. I can not run away or get out of there, I was in a cage as long as possible and not sure can be freely.I just watched, not knowing where to go.

I think we all tend to try that when we are younger, but when we get to this point of our lives we already know better and usually think better of it. It is hard to behave all the time and sometimes we like to just push the envelope just a little bit to see if someone is paying attention or not. I would like to think as we all have become adults that we have learned from the mistakes we have made when we were younger, but sometimes some of us never seem to learn our lesson. As long as the thing we are doing is not harmful to others maybe it could be interesting to see what we could get away with, but usually our common sense prevails and stops us from being silly.

Naughty, dawnald - heh heh! I'm sure I've done a zillion things and HAVE gotten away with it . . . and I'm not about to rat myself out just yet - heh heh. As far as online antics, I pulled more of that on Yahoo Answers. I did join a bunch of folks there a while back to raid different categories to ask dumb questions and relate it to "bran muffins" . . . it was always planned for a certain day at a certain time. I was one of the lucky ones that never got "busted" - maybe because I kept the generic avatar and no one was out to get me personally. Phew!! That's just one "naughty" thing I'll admit to . . .

Actually, twasn't all that long ago, when the 'no responses' tab here was showing four year old discussions, that I was leaving smart a$$ed responses to the ones where the people's accounts were no longer active.

hi dawnald like my son and my husband used to say, I would never make a good liar as my face always shows what ever emotion I am going through, so its always been hard for me to try and get away with something. But once my son gave me his pin number and asked me to draw x amount of money out of the atm machine, and shaking like the cops were surrounding me I used his pin number and his card and got the money for him, andfor the life of me I could not figure out why I felt like a criminal. I mean I had his atm card and put in his pin and the machine is not going to frisk me, and say Mrs.hatley you are using your son's atm card. he he.

The only thing I would say I would always do, which is against the law I guess, is speeding. I've gotten away with it a million times, so I keep doing it. In fact, I haven't been caught doing it. Knock on wood!I would be in a highway with speed limits of 55 mph, and I would be doing 80. Can't help it if everybody else is doing the same.

That's why you haven't gotten caught! If you were going faster than everybody else, you would have been singled out, but when you're going with everybody else, they look for whoever looks to be driving more recklessly, ie cutting in and out, etc.
