What do you do to keep your sanity?

I really want to enjoy life to the fullest, but it is so difficult when I feel so stressed everyday about keeping a roof over my head. I literally am making myself sick to my stomach everyday about my finances. I just wanted to hear what you all do to make ends meet better and keep your sanity. I love my lot, the discussion are great but it certainly is not going to be enough to pay my bills, not in a quick way anyway.

Same T shirt- juggling the ££££. This helps keep me sane. As does a cycle along the prom in early morning.Although I cycle, I also use public transport, so if I can get work closer home that will cut my £exes.

I really hope that you are able to find something closer to home, I know this will really help you. I wanted to start walking everyday for health and for stress, but it has been really hot here. I need to do something for sure to relieve this stress.

This will never end. Hence my hatred of the banks. If you want to chill(sorry to be a tease) just imagine that the fan above mew is cooling you.

I know exactly what you mean. I went through a similar thing last year and early this year. I nearly lost my wits just trying to stay above water. I've juggled money and debt around just to survive. Last year too I started to do something about it. I wanted to re-finance my mortgage to decrease my payment and give me some breathing space. After 3 tries and 3 rejections, I finally got it approved last month. Not sure if this helps.

What you said is very true. That is the only way I can calm myself about all of this is to think about well at least I am relatively healthy and can still change my situation.

The responsibilities of everyday life can reallly stress you out at times. You can't help but feel like sanity is slipping away from you sometimes. The best solution to lose this feeling is to get away from what you are doing. Find some new surroundings for a while. Do something you don;t ordinarily do. Chances are the feelings of despair you felt before will be lessened.

I did a little of that this week and it really does help to do something different. I met some new friends and I really enjoyed getting to know them better and they are both very positive people and that really helped me to focus on things that are more important than money.

I have the same problem with you, to live on salary that won't keep 5 mins. in my hand because the moment I received my salary they are distributed to various payables and expenses and still not enough to pay all the payables. If we really put the problems in our head and down to our hearts, we really go crazy. I will just make arrangement to some accounts payables that I could not pay, make promises (but i have to fulfill my promise). Sometimes I have to cry and take a dept breath and condition my mind that there is a solution so my problem. Talk to my friends and share my problems, this way I could released the stress in my mind. I also pray for God's guidance.

That is the hardest part, to try to make the money stretch until the next payday comes in but it just seems harder and harder to do. To the point of not even being able to buy groceries during that period.

sit down, take a sip of warm tea and empty your mind. should be enough to keep your sanity from all the burden of daily life. also, taking a walk for few minutes around the garden and enjoy watching or reading something you like as well also lighten up the mind.

You are right, I do the tea and being on here has really helped me to de-stress. I definitely think exercise is something I need to do more of and hopefully that will help as well.

Usually I try not to worry about it.. but for us our situation isn't always too pressing. We're used to paying our bills late and getting shut off notices. Right now our phone is shut off so I have no way of calling anyone, and I have no idea when I can afford to turn it back on again.. but that is not bothering me much, thankfully I still have the internet and can contact anyone I want that way. Right now I am worrying though because of our rent. My bank decided not to cover overdraws anymore.. which is the only way we're capable of paying our rent is by overdrawing the account for a week.. and we replace it the following week (sure it would make more sense to save up a couple weeks.. but we haven't managed to be able to do that yet.. there's always something we need so if the money is there we use it.. but if we just overdraw the account we deal with it). Anyways, now that the bank won't cover overdraws we're concerned about how we're paying the rent.. and last week my stupid bank double paid my power bill.. (they declined it the first time so I took the cash out and paid it that way.. then the bank sent the payment through again... so there's no way to get that money back). So because of last week's mess up we're already short this week, but we couldn't put rent off otherwise we'd be evicted, so we wrote the check knowing it will bounce... and yes I'm terrified right now and I've never been this scared about finances before. I'm praying the bank will miraculously just pay it.. because they have paid a few things even though it overdrew (like the 2nd power bill payment).. but I think because this is a check they won't do that.. the other was an EFT. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe we'll get lucky and the rent won't go through till Friday when our next check comes in.. but then I'll just be worrying all week (and of course then we'll have to figure out how to pay insurance and cable on top of the rent). Like I said, normally I don't worry about it.. normally it's not extremely pressing or I just convince myself that we'll be okay if something gets turned off. But this week is more pressing... we're talking about possible eviction and nowhere to go if we are evicted. Anytime I start thinking about it and stressing I try to just take my mind off it. There's nothing I can do at the moment.. I just have to sit and wait and see what the bank does about the check.. and then wait until Friday and figure out how we're paying the rest of this week's bills.

Wow, everytime we get calls or something is about to be shut off I get so sick to my stomach that I feel like I can't breathe, so I really need to just try to deal with the stress of this better, because it is not going to just go away. I hope everything turns out with your rent situation, that is the scariest feeling not knowing if you are going to have a roof over your head. Please keep us posted on what happens.

Just accept whatever challenges come my way easy or difficult. When things still in trouble I doesn't pay much attention. just skip it entirely. Or else if need to attain something just work hard for that goal. my family and friends as the real support system. Also keeping faith though sometimes the tough get going.

I know exactly what you are going through. I feel the same way. Lately, I have not been doing to well. I have a college degree and unfortunately with the bad economy I cannot find work anywhere. I make a little money on here, but it is not enough. I wanted to start making crafts, but I cannot even afford to do that right now. My husband attends college, but for some reason they do not disperse the funds until next month. I wish I could help you. You are a great person and please know that your are in my thoughts and prayers.

Some days I am really positive and think I can deal with all of the stress not having enough money brings and then sometimes I think the pressure of it all makes me want to crumble. I came to this site thinking I would make money, and it is not a lot of money on a day to day basis, but being able to open up about some of these issues really makes it all worthwhile. There are a lot of people way worse off than I am and I wish I could help all of those people and myself as well.

Of course, you can't enjoy when you are stressed out. To keep fit you need to allot time for regular exercises and if possible for yoga and meditation -- they are great relaxers. If you are energetic and feel fresh, you can carry out your routine without much difficulty. But constant stress saps you of vitality and too much of it can precipitate health problems. I have discovered that a quick way to relax is listening to brainwave entrainment audios. They have special beats that directly work on your mind and induce brainwave frequencies that relax you. Regular listening to half hour audio has significantly increased my energy level and alertness. You can try it too. If you don't know what it is read this article: http://hubpages.com/hub/brain-wave-entrainment-technology-say-good-bye-to-stress You can try free samples at http://www.mind-awakening-techniques.com/

I feel you completely; I am on the verge of a nervous breakdown, as I worry and try so hard everyday but still end in the same position. Today I literally had to go out in the heat and just walk, I was so blinded by my thoughts I almost forgot where I was, after my long walk I came home to almost pass out as my thoughts were greater than I could handle today. I wish us all nothing but many blessings and hope for the near future.

What I do is just keep holding on to God, and always ask His help specially in my finances too...and you know what I really found favor in him, he always help me with my finances...he really help my family...that's how faith works. Faith makes certain on what you hope for. Do not look in the physical, because if you do it will really seems that there's no way you can solve your financial problems, but when you live by faith and not by sight you'll be amaze how God's works in our lives. By simply knowing that I am a child of the King of kings that makes me a princess,,,it helps me keep my sanity, because there's no princess of God who will fall insane...because in my weakness God will rest in me. Luke 12:22-23 Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, about what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear, life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barns, yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who do you by worrying add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little things, why do you worry about the rest..." Aja! You can do it, reading the bible and writing down the very word that hit me everyday as the message of God will be more than enough to keep your sanity. you can do it Aurorastorm! God bless you and the works of your hands, may he truly make it plain to you all the plans that he has for you so you can discern it and know your true destiny and have the same desire that God has for you. God bless you a wonderful day everyday! God bless your whole family.

I am sorry for you also, it is such a stressful situation to be in on a daily basis, some days I have a better hold on it and some days I feel like I am going to go nuts. I wish for all of us to find a way to make ends meet without going nuts, and sharing on here is what it is all about.

I know you can not change some thing but you can try and stay positive. I try to help my husband as much as I can but it breaks my heart to see how tough it is for him to get money nowadays. He used to earn 10.000 more. We make it somehow, bills are paid in time. We don't go to the movies and restaurants often but I also noticed that lack of money didn't make us unhappy. We do enjoy life. We go camping, watch movies, enjoy our home. There are some nice things in life that don't involve much money. Yes, money can bring you some certain joy but never happiness.
