I hate this time of year...

The sniffling, sneezing, coughing, aching, fatigued, cold chills, night sweats and snout!!! Every time at this time of year i swear I get sick...one day it is in the 80s and the next the 50s and it kicks my butt every year. I get a flu shot each year to make sure that I dont get sick throughout the winter but no my body decides to always get sick a few weeks before the shots are even out...I have been sick for about a week now and each day I think I am getting better but then the stuffiness, couching and draining continue on...the only good thing I guess about it all is that I am not feeling as weak and fatigued so i can actually do more than just lay on the couch all day...how about you have you gotten sick already this season?

I think I've been fighting something off all summer and it's not gone yet. I had a bad head cold that lasted about a month.. and it slowly got better, but my energy level has not picked up to where it used to be, I'm still getting headaches, sweats, fatigue and some body aches... just no coughing or stuffiness to go with it anymore.

No.. I'm terrible about seeing doctors. The last few I saw got everything wrong, and even made a few ailments worse. The last time they darn near killed me because they couldn't do a simple pregnancy test to find out that I'd had an ectopic pregnancy that had already ruptured.. they insisted my IUD had shifted causing my pain. Thankfully I went elsewhere and got a second opinion, a doctor smart enough to do a pregnancy test to catch the problem and I was in surgery just a few hours later. Unless I'm in a lot of pain I won't go to a doctor. I figure this is just a string of colds that I get over but then catch a new one from hubby or one of the kids. Probably just a simple matter of my immune system not being as strong as it used to be.

I am sorry to hear that you have had to go through such a terrible time and that the doctorwas so terrible. I had a similar experience years back, not quite as bad as your thank gosh but for years i would complain that i was not feeling well and that I knew something was wrong, i just felt like I was coming down with the flu all the time without actually getting it. When I would tell then they would always just tell me that they didnt understand how I could be that sick and they that i was making it all up and it was in my head..well 5 years ago i got so sick that I was hospitalized and it later came out that I was a severe diabetic with sugars in the 400s and thats why i was always so sick feeling because I was having the shakes and fatigue something fierce because of it. well now anytime I am told something I always second guess because they missed my other problems i just make sure that I am on my toes with them. But i also always think that they are only human as well and make mistakes I just rather not have the mistakes be with me. Hope you get better soon..

Gosh kats..I am sorry that you have been dealing with it for such a long time. Have you been to the doctors yet to check into it and see what it is that you may have? It sounds like it may be a little more than just a head cold....I hope you get feeling better real soon!!! Thanks for your response!!!

Normally I do not experience both physical and mental sickness of any kind through out the year barring some minor cold on few occasions particularly in rainy season. The secret of living a perfectly healthy life lies in one's life style. Living on natural foods coupled with regular exercise can ensure disease free and stress free life. One can enjoy perfectly healthy life for a longer period if one adopts a natural and regulated life supported by pure and natural diets.Thanks.

Yes I do agree that the best way to help yourself from not getting sick is to definately eat healthy and be clean....I am always reminding my family to wash their hands during the winter season but I think the reason I got sick this time was because one day the weather is so hot and so cold the next and I did not protect myself...Thanks for your response and healthy season to you!!

Nope, I've been healthy. I do sneeze alot when home in this computer room. Seems to get very dusty and that bothers my sinuses. We have the same weather going on here. Cool in the morning and warm to hot in the afternoon. Hope you feel better, carolbee

Fingers crossed LOL! Thanks for your response carol and hope you continue to stay healthy!!

Some years I get a sinus infection or bronchitis once the weather really changes and the wind picks up. Is usually around the end of Oct. or first of Nov. Then it hangs on forever until I get an antibiotic. Stay well this winter, froggie.

I also hate this time of year as i think that it is soo cold and there are always people that seem to get really ill aswell as people passing their germs on to other people.Today it was rather sunny, where as yesterday we had rain,i hope the sun will be out tomorrow aswell,as i hate dull days.I have to have a flu jab every year and that is awful as sometimes you can end up feeling ill due to having the injection to stop the flu.

It has been raining here for days as well...yesterday was fairly nice in the early part of the day but as it got later it got colder and then today was colder and rainy again. I turned up our heat a little bit today just to take off the chill as it is suppose to be a bit colder for the next few days and then next week it is suppose to warm back up into the mid 60s. I also have to get a flu shot every year, the doctor makes sure that I do every year due to my diabetes and he would rather be safe than sorry with it although the first year I got the shot I got sick with the flu a few days later but the last few years i have been fine so we continue to get them. Thanks to your response jugs and here to staying healthy!!!

Oh, yes, I recall it. When I worked I was always getting sick this time of year. The difference in temperature is irritating to me. I don't have to go out in it often so it doesn't bother me. My grandson is in second grade and has already brought home a cold bug which I didn't enjoy. I hate colds!! Can't breath, can't taste anything. I enjoy Halloween and the autumn leaves though. I enjoy seeing how my kids dress up for Halloween and how much fun they have.

If you know you are going to get sick you should start taking some L-Lysine. It is a amino acid that strengthens the immune system. You would want to take 4-5 a day for the first five days and then follow the instructions. Also add zinc and Vitamin C to your diet.

Yes fall is my favoritest season other than the change in the weather..it is so back and forth already this year and then it has been raining for about a week straight which makes it even more unbearable because anytime you go out into it you get soaked which then makes you even more cold and then you get sicker quicker. I dont have to go out into it that much either unless I have an appt or have to run to the store but I sometimes think that is what makes me sick is just those few little moments out in it....and yes the kids...they are always coming home with something it seems. Thanks for your response Celtic and hope you have a healthy cold and flu season!!

The weather is warming up in Australia but during the winter time I’ve had my share of colds and flus. I take large doses of vitamin C all year and take care of myself and yet I inevitably will catch at least two each year. It does get you down doesn’t it? What we wouldn’t give for a cure for the common cold!

Oh yes I am normally pretty good about keeping myself healthy during cold and flu season but I guess I wasnt quite prepared this early for it. I thought I was over it a few days ago because I was feeling so much better but then after two days it seemed to hit me again but not with the tired, achy muscles as much but just more of the headcold...thanks for your response and here to happy health this season!!

LOL...cant afford to have you not there!!! I have never gotten sick this early either but for some reason this one seems to be hitting early. I know that a lot of my friends and their kids are getting sick as well. I have had my cold now for a week and it just doesnt seem to be going away. I am just hoping that this isnt a sign of what I am in store for for the rest of the year and maybe because I got sick so early I wont have to worry about getting anything later in the year. thanks for your response and happy health to you!!

I have been. My sinuses really got the best of me the last week of August into the first week of September. I was absolutely miserable when that week hit. It was the first time this year that the weather went from being warm to being somewhat chilly and I didn't think I was going to survive it at all. However, after about a week I started to feel better and I was so happy. I'm really hoping that my sinuses don't decide to act up again this season.

Mine is going on 8 days and i think that is the longest that I have had to deal with a head cold atleast from what I recall. I always complain to my husband about how much snout there is in there LOL...where does it all come from?? If this is the only cold I get for the season i will be happy but I am just hoping that this is not a sign of things to come. i am glad that yours is gone and like you hope that that was all for the season...Thanks for your response dorann!!

Have not yet! But the weather here has not change drastically yet. It's been relatively cold in the morning, but it still very sunny during the day. I did get a flu shot this year. And it was my first time getting it. Maybe that's why I haven't gotten sick yet. Knock on wood!

The first year I got the flu shot I got sick with the flu but the doctor said that that is common because your body is adjusting to the shot...I thought that the flu shot prevented you from getting the flu but later learned that it only eases it you can still get but it wont last as long or be as harsh which I will take too so I continue to get the shot each year...Thanks for your response and healthy thoughts your way!!

With the approach of autumn, we welcome that slight chill in the air after the relentless heat of the summer. I thought nice day are coming. We look forward to the brilliant colors of the changing leaves, the final harvest of the fruit trees and digging out our favorite sweater. but cooler temperatures and shortening days also signal the start of flu season and the time to prepare is now. bad thing is I got a serious cough, could't continue my work even type work can't go on, look as going to die, what time I will overcome?

I don't even bother with a flu shot. I used to get them when I was younger, but it didn't seem to help. So far, I've got the sniffling, sneezing, aching crud, but no coughing and no sinus headache. The headaches kill me, and then if I have coughing on top of the headache, it's awful.

Oh the pressure in the head is what seems to get me the most...when we first starting getting the flu shot we thought it was suppose to prevent us from getting it all together and that first year I got it and was so mad but later learned that it doesnt prevent you from getting it it just eases it when you do. I still get them and i know that there are alot that dont trust it or just dont get them but I feel like if there is anything i can do to help me from not getting sick I am all for it...hope you get feeling better soon ambie and thanks for your response!!

It's been raining here for a week and most of my friends are having flus and colds. But I wish you well, do rest more and drink more water. Weather is really unpredictable. Sometimes, it rains for a week then it would be sun shiny the next.

I am hoping to take some more meds, and get some well needed rest tonight and tomorrow and hopefully get over it before the week continues and the rush and running starts on Monday!! Thanks for the gets wells and here to a healthy season to you as well/thanks for your response!!

I am firtunate to not have any allergies but I do believe that both my husband and my daughter have a mild case of them as they always seem to sneeze everytime they first go out into the sun. I am sorry that you had to dealth with being sick from the heat hatley...I go through days like that as well and even though I love the sun over the snow sometimes it is too much and just takes everything out of me. We will be getting our shots this year and then I also get them for the kids as well but they dont have a date set up to get them only because the doctors are not sure of when they will come in so they call when they are ready....I am hoping that this sickness that I have is the only one we have to deal with for the season but I am sure that is just wishful thinking!! Thanks for your response Hatley and here hoping for a healthy ful season for you as well!!

Good evening dear friend , actually its been already five days since i've got sick too , we are already at the start of the autumn here in Belgium , and the problems is that here is belgium , there is a lot of humidity in th air , and while the day ios starting pretty shinining and sunny , it will suddenly get colder and start to rain , then it will calm down for a few hours and restart to rain and get coldy , aniway , the fact is , that sometimes i take an extra sweater on me , and i find myself sweating in the car , so i take it off , and once outside , i get fooled that is hot , and from out of nowere it starts to be windy , chilly and pluss raining , so for me it is enough to stay around ten to fifteen minutes in such a time of weather , and then its on , my nose starts , sometimes i got fever and all my bones hurts , then the headacke , its awfull , in roumania , i never had this soo often , it was even the invers , i used to get sick , on the SUMMER , and the Summer in roumania , doesnt even compares with the summer here , i mean in roumania its hooot and sunny every day , for three to four months straight , there are a few rainy days , but thats only an exception , and its starting in the morning , untill the sun set not like here , not to know what to ware. Have a nice evening , and i wish you the best health posibile. Florin , Over and Out

That is how our weather is here as well other than the humidity. The mornings are cold, the afternoons are warm and the evening are freezing. I think that is how I got sick is because I am only out in the stuff for a few minutes and then back in and my body hasnt had the time to adjust to the weather change and therefore it gets you sick because you are cold one minute and sweating the next like you suggest and yes the sun can be very decieving making you believe that it is warm out and then you step out and freeze...thanks for your response and happy health to you as well!!
