fall color - Fall color tree in Northern California

Just kidding, this is not about divorce, just seeing if somebody would swoop in and make judgmental comments. (evil grin) Nope, this is about fall color. Specifically, proof that we do have seasons here in California. I was walking today, not to the lake or the river, because I wanted to get back sooner and take care of some things, and I saw this tree. Stuff like this lifts my spirit and makes me feel good about life. :D How's your fall color today? Or spring flowers if you're down south...

Hi Dawn. I know what you mean about certain things in nature lifting the spirits. The bad weather has prevented me from going out. If I walk a certain route into Town I do see my "favourite" tree that is stunning in autumn. However, it's been really windy lately so I reckon - by the time I see it again, it won't have any leaves on it. My very own Winter Jasmine is flowering. Cute, yellow flowers and they cheer me up on these dreary wintry days.

It is isn't it? Very hardy too as it's an evergreen. My Hot Lips are still flowering too. Amazing plant!

I think most of the trees around my part have already lost their leaves but I didn't really take much notice because it was raining anyway =( Autumn is really not a great season here in England.

Autumn is beautiful in the U.K. Breathtakingly beautiful - a prelude to winter. We would watch the trees changing colour with awe and lived to pick up chestnuts with which we played the game 'conkers'. We would soak the chestnuts in various liquids to harden them and then they were pierced and suspended from a string. The aim was to break another person's chestnut. Yeh - really exciting stuff went on. You had three plays and then the other person had their 3 shots.and so life went on...... different games for different seasons

Freudian slip Dawn with title of post? I was wondering where everyone has been for the past 2 days. well, the Poinciana tree should be blooming soon and other Christmas flowers that bloom at this time of the year. Regretfully it is still raining and becoming a bit cooler at this time of the year too. I hope that the rain finishes soon as our first guests cine tot he Villa next week and if it rains then they may blame me! Your photo is incredibly beautiful and beauty always makes us feel happy and thankful that we have seen it.

No no quite deliberate, look at response #33 on my "treating you like dirt" discussion and you will know what I'm talking about... Clearly the rain is the fault of your boss. Why not post a weather report with his picture on it?

Well, since I read all the previous responses and nobody seems to be all judgmental about the divorce title, I guess that it is my job to do it, since I would really hate for you to be disappointed. Hmmm ... what can I say that would be judgmental enough? I know, how can you be enjoying the autumn colors so much when there are people out there at this very moment getting divorced? Oh wait, are you one of them finally, and is that why you are enjoying the colors so much?

So does that mean that you are officially divorced or that the process has at least officially started? I have been gone for so long that I am SO out of the loop at the moment.

Oh, I can answer that one - when you fall, the colors are purple, blue, and black and sometimes even a little red for extra "pop". Then, they fade to a nice green and yellow, so it really almost is a rainbow of colors.

well you are certainly right, this discussion really does have nothing at all to do with divorce, lol. Well, here there is not much to look at and things are cold dull and boring, i wish i could live in the countryside where there would be great scenerys, but here there is nothing, so not really much to look at. It is good that something like this can brighten up your day and put you in a good mood, i wish that ii could have something similar to that that you have their. Things like this can change a bad move and a negative outlook into the complete opposite, you should be happy that you have this available to you.

The spring flowers are really lovely. We've had some good rain so there is some amazing new growth that I haven't seen ion the 5 years I've been here. There is a tree in the park across the road from me that is full of blossom, it's never flowered before. Your tree is very lovely. Thanks for showing us.

Well, here in Ontario, leaves need frosty temps to turn red, otherwise they're just yellow and brown when they die off.

Here in Ohio we had those colors about 2-3 weeks ago..Now most are brown and dry and on the ground...That is cool though, I didn't realize that trees change color in Ca, did you have some really cool nights that would cause a tree to change its color?

Yes, it is, because ours have turned brown and fallen due it freezing temps, 40's is perfect weather for changing leaves colors..:)

I'm very south. It's very pretty here. There is a solid red leafy tree across from me in a field. The trees are yellow, red, red orange. Beautiful actually. And we have tons of leaves on the yards. This is definitely raking season. My dad always used a mower that picke up leaves, but I still enjoy raking sometimes, as long as my hip will allow it. I lived in California one year. Graduated from Santiago High in Garden Grove.

Yes, the posterboard sign said 10 minutes to Disneyland where I lived. I also worked in a shopping center there named Rosco, and the biggest Playboy club bar was next door to my job. I was in 12th grade and I thought that was neat. These women with 3 inch thick makeup would come in in their little bunny outfits buying more makeup.!

That photo is absolutely beautiful. As far as the fall color goes around here, we saw the height of fall color early in the month of October although we've had the opportunity to enjoy very nice weather right up until yesterday. We've had the long fall that I've wished for. That in and of itself is making me fell really good about life. I love the fall and really like the fact that we've actually had a pretty long fall for a change.

You are twicky, twicky, Dawn - hee hee!! I think the seasons you have up there are more like real seasons than down here! It's hella windy today - and I ain't liking it. It's more or less the same color here - if it's green, it's still green . . . if it's dying from fall, it's that weak yellow or just brown. But it's all blowing away today!! I get a thrill when I take a walk with the kids and I see maple-ish leaves on the ground that are red/yellow. It's that rare red on the leaves that I love in the fall . . . but you get it on a whole tree over yonder! Purty - me thinks!

We still have some red and yellow leaves on some trees. There are so many things that can make a person feel good about life if they would just give it a try.

Hey dawny! That is one beautiful tree you've got there. Really nice shot. I must admit, I went for a ride a bit further upstate NY today and the foliage was pretty, but we don't have trees anywhere near that huge or full! And by now most of the leaves are on the ground. There are still some nice colors left, but your tree wins the prize by far! Thanks for sharing~

Wow... I love fall here in Missouri it is turning beautiful. We had some odd days this past week that I was seriously considering wearing shorts for. But I decided on capris and even then I got comments about wearing them. But enough about clothes. The colors of fall are my favorite. This is by far my favorite season of the year.

I live in Tennessee and we have beautiful fall colored leaves. Ours take a bit longer to turn that up north, but we do have them. Actually, I love to drive up to the mountains to look at all the fall colors. Driving through the Smokey Mountains are beautiful this time of the year. I also live on a mountain so when we drive down off the mountain each morning I can never get enough of the view, let alone this time of the year when there are so many different color leaves on the trees. It really is beautiful.

There are a couple of trees near our house. One in front, and one at the back. When we moved in, these trees still had braces attached on them to keep them standing and straight. The one in front is already fiery red with some leaves at the base. The one at the back has all it's yellow leaves on the yard (needs raking). And the tree is already bald and bare. With all the cold weather and the raking that's needed, I think I still want to divorce this fall season and hook up with summer anytime.
