My boss called me today - full of good cheer to all men - and I was so shocked that you could have knocked me over with a feather. First, he congratulated me on the fight I am putting up with a Mega chain of Hoteliers for my company. Congratuaye me? I had a look round the office to see if his comment was meant for someone else. Then the conversation went something like this: Boss: Well it is November and what comes after November? Me: well, it is usually December and every year this happens Boss: And what comes in December? Me: Christmas? Boss: Yes, Christmas. And what comes with Christmas? Me: Day off? Boss: Yes, Day off and you must give yourself a bonus for the excellent work you have done this year Me: Thinks quickly: He must be on his happy pills again! Hallelujah! Me: Speaks to Boss: Thank you very much and how much money should I allocate for my bonus? Boss: One month's salary. me. Thinks:This man is flying: Speaks: Thank you very much for your generosity. So help me - I nearly curtsied! So now I can pay off much of the owed taxes so they will not be locking me up for 3 months in jail Oh, I then negotiated a bonus for the gardeners too and they will be so happy. Them there meds must be working. Have you ever had an experience like this?

Actually he does have an identical twin brother. They look the same and talk the same and argue the same. Oh this is so funny that you hit the nail on the head. Ithink that he is back on tranquilisers I am convinced that he is bi polar but as yet undiagnosed. As the mood can change in seconds

Pray !!if at all his mood change, then it must change sometime after Christmas. Gosh! I was now wondering you have a bipolar Boss and then a Bipolar twin Boss! Are you by any chance related to Hercules? It has to be a Herculean effort to work with "Undiagnosed Bi-Polars"

cynthiann, First of all, congratulations for getting an early Christmas present which I think is probably the best news so far. I must apologize for this late response but just the same I am happy for you. Especially, the part where you will be able to be coming to terms with the (yours irritably) IRS and celebrations indeed here. So, till you get that into your bank account just ensure that he stays on his medication. As for me, my company has done well for this year despite the crisis and like you we would be receiving our bonus and commissions which for me is much better than what you are receiving. Anyway, I suppose both of us are in celebration mode which is deserving. Great work and till that $$ is in the bank, take care.

Thank you my friend. I plan to take it early in the first week of December and then I will only be a week over the deadline. The country is so broke that draconian measures have now been adopted. I am happy for you too and I am sure that you will put your bonus to good use - not just paying debts like me.

I WISH something like that would happen to me. I have 2 jobs right now in addition to the toffee business. I know I will be getting some kind of a bonus at one of them, but I doubt it will be very much at all. I hope those happy pills keep on working for him!!!

No! LOL....my bosses don't like taking any meds much less happy pills....wonder how it is that people with so much are always complaining about what they don't have! I sometimes think that life isn't fair. They were given the business....given their house....given their furniture....and they still complain and cry poor mouth!

I know exactly what you mean. My boss is a multi millionaire and is not as happy as I am. His daughter is not on the Island and they only see her once a year

I don't want to burst your bubble, but isn't severance pay the equivalent to a month's pay? Christmas is also a time for laying off employees - I know, we've had this in our company before where employees return after Christmas to be told that their positions had been eliminated...

You have burst my bubble. If he is planning to fire me he will have a fight as there would be opposition by some members of the Management Committee. But now I am a bit scared.

Yep, I am going to take it the first week in December. The tax deadline is December 1 but I will only be a week late. So happy. Oh I would not have taken a bonus if the gardeners did not get one. Or if he had refused them I would have shared mine with them. God is good as the money is coming at the right time

That is wonderful that your boss decided to offer you the bonus for Christmas of a month's salary. Right about now that is something that our family could definitely put to good use. We are having a tough time financially and actually did have to take an early withdrawl from Tom's IRA because of all the medical expenses that we have faced this year. Of course, I also know that as far as a Christmas bonus for him might go, we will be lucky that it is more than twenty dollars.

I have been following your details on your husband's illness and it really tough on you and your family. I am blessed - my job is stressful but I do my best. This money will go to the government as it will make a dent in the sum owed in property taxes. You are going to have to struggle through until your son starts school and then maybe you can pick up a part time job or something. I know that you are a wonderful Mom and your kids will be so happy even paying with some board games at Christmas - they will love doing stuff Ike that as a family. Many blessings. I pray regularly for you and your family

Oh Christmas bonuses! I miss those. I used to work in a country where Christmas bonuses were not only a surprise, but was expected. So where do I get those happy pills? Can I get those stuffed on donuts so I could give them to our higher management. Maybe they could also give us bonuses. Good on you cynthiann to get the gardeners something extra for Christmas too!

Oh I could not take a bonus and they not get. Or if I got and they didn't then I would give them a portion of my money. They work in sun and rain and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. But I am glad for this. Sorry that I have to give it away but better than going to jail

That manager situation is what all people would want. Working well and eagerly has paid off for you Cynthiann. You're approach is really good, and I hope to learn from your planning. Its quite a comparison that you have one of the best ranks in Mylot, and that correlation with work gets better because of your job. Any boss would want to congratulate such an earnest worker. Your good and diligent work, even if it be arguing to hoteliers, is what makes you honest. I definitely doubt managers randomly get happy from things like happy pills, jolly candy, or libido centralizer. Your experience at work will let all your colleagues know how good and cool of a worker you are. Its a must win situation you had, and I think the future looks better for you.

No, I've never had an experience like this. Congratulations, though! I believe I would be shocked, too. I believe you really do work hard and he should appreciate you. I'm so glad you have the money to pay off those taxes. I know that's a lot off your chest.
