Do you feel that weather patterns are changing?

For the past couple of years strange things seem to be happening with our weather. Some places that rarely see snow are getting a lot of it, place that usually have cold winters are finding it much milder than just a few years ago. Are weather patterns changing or does this sort of thing happen once or twice in every century?

Scientists have studied weather patterns in the arctic by boring into the ice pack with a hallow drill. The resulting bore shows the weather patterns for hundreds of years. These tests have shown that over the centuries the weather does have patterns. Studies of the sun indicate that the sun also has weather patterns, some of which effect the earth's weather. No one can say for sure that these unusual weather patterns are natural or man-made! Perhaps it is a combination of both, but in any case I believe that we do need to clean up our act, and stop polluting our home planet!

Hi barehugs, Thanks for commenting and I agree that we need clean up our act. I agree too that it's difficult to be sure just how much of it is our fault but at least we can do our part to lessen the effect. Blessings.

I'd say they're changing big-time. Some people like to deny it or to shrug it off like something we don't need to worry about because there's nothing we can do about it, but I think we have to start all doing our small parts in protecting the environment. In my area it was bitter cold for a few weeks, then yesterday and today it was quite warm. That happens but the odd thing was last night I was on my porch shortly after midnight and I was a lightning bug...in Pennsylvania...in January! Earlier in the evening my cats were going crazy and I saw they were chasing a fly. Now, nobody can tell me that's normal! Annie

Hi anniepa, Thank you for sharing and I agree that something is happening and it's very important that we all do what we can, however small. We usually have snow in November or early December, but so far this winter we've had none. Today it looks and feels like April. There may well be things happening that we have no control over, but let's do our part to keep our home planet clean. Blessings.

Hi Pose Yes I think they are to be honest as the last 2 Winter have got colder and we have seen more snow then we have in many Years In the Summer it was hotter then it has been in ages and we did not get as much Rain as we usually do in the Summer so yes I think it certainly is changing

Hi gabs, Thanks for your response and I agree. We are just getting some snow now and last winter was the same. We usually get snow in November or early December. It is much milder as well. Blessings.

Hello Pose. You are right that the weather patterns are changing these years. Like this year, it started to be very cold much earlier than ever and more natural disasters have taken place including droughts and floods in our country. And it seems that some other places in the world are experiencing the same change of weather pattern. It is high time for us humans to be more aware of the protection of the environment. Have a good day.

Hi william, Thank you for sharing your thoughts and I agree. It is however having the opposite effect where I live. It is not as cold as most years and we've had no snow at all. Usually it starts snowing in November or early December but It's January 4th today and it feels more like April and no snow in the forecast. I'm not complaining though as I don't enjoy the snow like I once did. Blessings.

I really don't know Pose, but because I have lived in Ohio all my life, it seems it never is the same. One year we will have warm winters and the next, buried in snow for weeks. The last couple years are a good example. Last New Years, we got the first of two horrible snowstorms that shut down most of the city. This year it was warm and in the 50's...Ohio weather is also ever changing; one day it will be nice and warm and the next day I am digging for my winter coat..lol

Hi carmelanirel, Thank you for sharing those thoughts. I feel that winters are not as cold as they once were but it may be just my imagination. I know that last winter was very mild with little snow and we haven't had snow as yet this winter either. I know that there was a time when the snow usually started in November. I really don't like the cold weather anymore, so I'm happy. Blessings.

I do feel that the weather is somewhat changing. I have noticed a bit of a difference. At least, where I am, this change hasn't happened all at once, but it has slowly changed, over the last few years.

Well, a lot of people think that this is happening because of Global warming ,but I think that his happens once or twice in every century. Don't get me wrong, I really believe that is important to take care of our planet ,but I don't believe that every single weather event is related to Global Warming either.

Hi Mirita, Thank you for commenting and you may be right. It may have been nearly a hundred years since we've had a winter like this, but a century is just a drop in the bucket in comparison to the age of the earth. You are right too in saying that it's important for us to take care of our home planet for some of this is surly of our own making. Blessings.

I do feel like it's changing a bit.....we have had a ton of snow...then cold.then snow....then cold...it's been a few years since we had this much. Back in 1969 when I graduated from high school we had tons of snow and this is the first year that I can remember in a long time that we have had this much...Arizona even had some the day before yesterday...in Phoenix!

Hi jillhill, Thank you for responding. That is crazy, snow in Phoenix! While there's no doubt that weather patterns change over time, I strongly feel that our inaction on global warming and how we've been treating the environment, will make it worse this time around. Blessings.

Hi Pose: I am not a scientist but from what I see I would say that is true and climate is really changing. I remebered when I was a kid, thinks weren't that way. My parents think the same: now when we see climate changing there are more castastrophes... it's aweful. Now we see more disasters because of the weather than in the previous years and it makes me really nervous. I think we are guilty of these changes actually. ALVARO

Hi starsailover, Thank you for responding and I think you may be right. What we can do to stop it is difficult to say, but we must do whatever we can. We also need to put pressure on governments to do more. I'm not sure either just how much is really caused by us, but that doesn't mean we have to stand and watch our civilization destroy itself. Blessings.

I think it really does, yes, the weather patterns do change this days and its very alarming considering that its a natural thing and we cannot do a major thing about it, what we could do was just to slow the the changing patterns of our weather, but its already there and we couldn't erase it totally. Here in our country, what I could say is that, typhoons and heavy flooding was really heavier and stronger unlike before. Its really true that global warming exist and climate change are there. So let's act now to at least minimize its huge effect on us. We only have one world to live in, let's love our home. Have a nice day ahead!

Hi jinjer, Thank you for commenting but I think that there are some things we can do, like taking better care of the planet. While weather patterns will change from time to time, it may be worse this time, because of the way we are treating the environment. Blessings.

Whether or not the climate is changing isn't really up to a vote, much like the economic state of the world. The spread sheets don't lie, unfortunately. I say enjoy while we can.

I can say that for my country, Bulgaria, the weather is much different last years. Last New Year we had temperatures with possibility for going to the beach, around the date of this new year the temperatures was around 1-2 degrees, we have no snow. When i was child, i remember cold winters with a lot of snow. Last year we had snow in the start of the spring, which was not normal. For me something wrong happens with the weather, my boyfriend says it's because a lot of cataclysms are waiting us soon, i read two or three months ago here that in the Bible it's written that the end is near when we can't understand which season is it... I think may be the reason is the global heating .... But nobody knows what's wrong. And i know that may be somewhere in the world there are people who know what is the answer of the question, because of many analysis, but i think that people will be the last who will understand what's wrong. Even if some scientists know what happens, they would never tell the world, because of the panic which will happen after giving that information.

Hi suggar, Thank you for commenting and I agree that there appears to be some big changes in the weather. How much is actually caused by us is hard to say but we certainly are contributing. We must all do our part, however small to look after our home planet. It will do no good to panic however. Blessings.

I think that it is getting changed a little and it is creating problems. Last year will be remembered to me for a long time because it broke records in Temperature and also in rain. I think that temperature is going to extremes, up to a level where either people have to get into the cold water to get some relief or to the other level where one have to hide under the quilt to get some heat. Raining is changing its usual times. One have to wait for it to get his crops in the fields, because it is not in its usual time. So I agree with you.

Hi sanjay, Thank you for commenting and I too feel that there are changes but as I was saying to another respondent, weather patterns probably change every one hundreds years or so. However, I feel that because of our inaction, this time it could be much worse. We all need to do what we can to make a cleaner environment. Blessings.

I will say yes it looks like we are in a weather cycle change and it will change again in about 20-30 year i believe that the weather patterns cycle every few decades.

Hi Rmalcolmti, Thanks for your response and while I agree to a certain extent, I don't think it happens every twenty to thirty years. Maybe once in a century, but I also thing that we may have something to do with what's happening now and we need to clean up our act. Blessings.

We've had two heavy snow falls last year one after another, this is a phenomenon we've never had it soooo bad and it grounded everything to a halt, because we are not used to it, a few flurries, but not to the extent we got it, we usually get snow in January or February so it's doubly rare to get bad snow in December, I hope this is not a sign of things to come, the temperatures plummeted and it was like Siberia. Personally I put it down to Global warming which means this is only the start of things to come.

Hi wolfie, Thank you for commenting and I agree that there seems to be some big changes this year. We usually get snow in November or early December but we've had none at all yet. The weather is more like what we see in April and several degrees warmer than average for January. Blessings.

I think we are seeing major changes in the weather patterns. The publicity about whether it is global warming caused by man's actions or not is receiving a lot of controversy. A lot of that has to do with money. It is going to be very profitable for the makers of all of the green technology such as electric cars, solar panels, updating the power grid, etc. The current manufacturers of gasoline powered goods and the status quo are looking at a loss of profits on their end. But I agree that it just makes sense for all of us to do what we can to live leaner and greener.

Yes, yes, a lot of strange, strange things are happening to our environment. Years back, the rains didn't scare me at all. Now, I notice that there is an unusual sound and force brought about by rain. I could imagine spears falling on the rooftops---so so scary. And I also notice the frequency of people hit and killed by lightning.Whenever there are rains and lightnings, you can be sure that the following day you will see someone or people getting struck by lightning. That's so scary.
