What is it about this time of day?

I suppose it's that the servers are busy or something. I have observed that pretty much every day on myLot, between approximately 11 AM Pacific time and 2 PM Pacific time, there are no e-mail notifications. So I go back to my old, rotten way of doing things, and I check the "started" and "responded" tabs to see if I have anything I need to reply back to. Then sometime later in the day I get flooded with e-mails. Servers? Volume? Any other theories? Am I paranoid, or are they really picking on me? :D

If you do not lose your posts then you likely will double post them. It goes from one extreme to another. I guess Mylot picks and chooses who it picks on.

I rarely have either problem, nor do I have a problem with the site loading slowly. Just missing e-mails now and then...

I'm still doing things the rotten way . . . perhaps I should go check the email I use for myLot. I'm sure there's a zillion times a zillion emails sitting there!! You've been chosen to be picked on because you are so special!

Maybe they changed the e-mail address they're sending from, and it's all going to spam land! :D

I am getting my notifications, I think it is something with California, perhaps. Not really. I do not know enough to know, unless it covers the fact that it is lunch time where you are. I have gotten notifications all day. And since I decided to quit being lazy and started a few discussions I am getting a little attention as well. Amazing what participation will do for you.

I hate it when I have to check manually too .. I think during those times , the servers must be sleeping. They need to recuperate too , you know.

When I don't get e-mail notifications, I take it as a signal to go do some "real" work. Then when I get back and find 50 e-mails, I feel overwhelmed again. I like the breaks in e-mails!

This lag you speak of happens to me daily and since I am on myLot clock, I am assuming it is when they update earnings. The lag occurs between 9am - 11 am. So most times I try to log in way before or after. So it is not you my dear, I have noticed this for a good 6 weeks now, it is frustrating but what can we do.

25 Jan 11
i am here on mylot at different times of the day, i do try to get here as much as possible. I think that it is late afternoon to early evening when i get the emails through from mylot, i guess in some cases this could depend on the time in each country, but there is also the fact that most people do work and so we would only start to get the emails later on when they are back from work. Nobody is picking on you, lol.

Are you sure I'm not being picked on? Actually, that wasn't a serious question, I just wanted to use the ninja.
25 Jan 11
sure about what? Different countries have different times, people do work, people also have families, this can all cause different times of coming on here and getting our emails.

Both of those and your connection can enter into it too. I can't even get into one of my Yahoo accounts early in the day and this past week-end was told it was because the server will only allow so much use for each email. When I hit that amount it threws me off and I couldn't get back in for a period of time. For me Saturday it was 4-5 hours!

I have over 300 notifications in my inbox right now so I have no idea how they come in! I’m in Australia and I recall in the old days when I used to be up to date with my notifications that they would not all start piling in until late afternoon and evening and of course that must have been because of the time difference. Can’t answer your question but I thought I would drop in anyway...

I have never really noticed a time of day. I am not able to be on during the day though..I have to wait until I get home. Maybe the server is saving them all up for you. Or maybe it is a hacker that you put those fleas after!!

I've never actually paid that much attention to what time I get the notifications from mylot that I do get. However, I also have to admit that the vast majority of my notifications are turned off because I just get way too many emails as it is. My guess would be that during the time of day that you've mentioned the reason that you don't get any emails from mylot is because that is a time of the day that people around the world are more likely to be accessing the site which would slow notifications down.

I notice because it's lunch time here, and I often get on and see what's new at lunch time, especially if I've posted a new discussion.

First off dawn, what are you doing going about 'the old rotten way'? I thought you still had hundreds of notification that you still had to catch up on. Have you finally dealt with all of them, and are you now being more proactive?! Haha! Good on you! Isn't myLot-time 2 hours ahead than Pacific time? So it makes sense that the servers are also having lunch and taking their siesta.

Maybe a mail server bouncing or delaying your mail somewhere. I don't think I miss a notification for a new discussion : they are in my email 2 or 3 mn after I see them in the tabs. Some comments/comments are not notified, but I always thought that it was an internal filtering at myLot.

I have received your notification 2 mn after your post : I was trying a traceroute to the mail server at myLot, but I am blocked by one of my firewalls . I am really too paranoid. And stupid : a traceroute can't say what mailer has a problem, but I am quite sure it is not at myLot.
