Nervous of Face Book

My friend is nervous of Face Book and so she is thinking of leaving it. I regret telling her what happened to me because it made her mind up even more. My porch window was open and when the postman delivered letters they got wet due to rain. It was a few days before I looked at these letters. Looking at my bank statement I saw over £120 was taken out by Face Book. Com. Then the next day this money was returned into my bank account. I am shocked Face Book got hold of my bank details. How do you think this happened? What do you enjoy about Face Book?

Actually, I have not joined Facebook and have no intention of joining. There are too many cases where some has had bad things happen because of things done or posted on Facebook. People have been hurt, things have been stolen, people have been stalked, and they have even lost jobs because of sites like Facebook. Now, you are saying that they actually accessed your bank information without you authorizing them to do that. Just one more reason not to use this or similar websites.

At least they were honest and refunded the money the very next day and without you having to contact them about the problem - it could have been worse. But, for a lot of people a withdrawal amount of that size could have caused bounced checks and a lot of other problems.

Yes, at least I did get my money back the very next day. I can imagine it would be worse if someone couldn't pay their mortgage due to this sort of thing happening.

I have on it my name, day and month of birth but not year and just one photo. My email address is set to be private on Face Book. I don't do any Face Book Games. I went to my bank and cancelled my bank card.

Hello sis! Owh, really?? How the company traced your details and they took your money out for what reason??? Have you contact them and asked about it?? Even they have returned the money to you but they have no right to do so. Plus I don't think there is reason for them to do so.

Hi my friend. I know how to contact My Lot and that they will reply. I looked how to contact Face Book and it came up with commonly asked questions. I wasn't able to contact Face Book to ask how this happened.

Are you sure it was Facebook.com? Have you asked the people behind Facebook about this? I think that you at least deserve a good explanation. You could even sue them if it was really an invasion of privacy.

Hi Jill Hill. I also like to keep in contact with Canadian family of my brother-in-law. I visited them in Canada last summer. I know that bank account was listed for Amazon. I had used it for X Box when my teenage son had asked me for. For ages I didn't have my photo on Face Book. Then this year I put my photo on it with me in Colombia. I also put my day and month of birth. I haven't ever told them my bank details. Yes, it is shocking and I don't want anything like that to happen again.

I deleted from Facebook all but my closest friends. I think that Facebook is a way of losing all privacy and anyone can post any dumb thing in your wall. So I almost never use it and blocked unwanted people. I much rather prefer emails or msn to writwe to friends. And there´s also ways of using Skype if you want a free phone.

Hi my dear friend. It is a shame that Face Book is losing its privacy. I would like to learn how to use Skype. I do like emails but I also liked Face Book. I am so happy that I cancelled that bank account that Face Book got into.

Hi my friend. It is impossible for Face Book to know my bank account details. Amazon used to know them and so did Pay Pal. It is a mystery how that money managed to go out of my account. I didn't find a way to contact Face Book.

Hi maximax! Are you sure this is the same Facebook website that took your money from your bank account? I've seen too many rumors faced by Facebook and I wouldn't be surprised if someone or some group is trying to frame up Facebook. You should contact Facebook and tell them about this because I don't think there's a way for them to get a hold of your bank details since they do not ask for your bank account when you register in it. Try to find out how you can contact them thru the links provided below your Facebook page. I'm sure one of it will lead you on how to contact FB admin.

maximax8, I am unaware of how your bank account could actually be accessed and most of all, had £120 being taken by Facebook. However, I hope that you are not going to take this sitting down. I hope that you will do your due diligence and if possible make a police report. Honestly, I don't recall or experience anything like that with Facebook or any social networking sites which are generally free lest you are "shopping". Remember to check with all your family members if anyone of them had used your credit or bank card to "purchase" from the site before going to the police for the wrongful access into your bank account. As for me, I do not subscribe or pay for anything in Facebook or any other known social networking sites. So, till you find out and report the police - I suppose we will be waiting for your next update on this situation. Take care and have a nice day.

hi maximax8 that is terrible and how did they get into your account. I am glad the money was returned,I have an account but if I spent the time required to keep up with the many things I am asked to do I would not be able to mylot. I love mylot so much more than facebook plus I do need the money too. but its the friendships and learning and caring and sharing I love most here. I just do not really care that much for facebook.Somehow you must have divulged some info that lead someone into your bank account that s horrid. I hope it will not happen again. I would be very careful a bout personal info around face book. hugs from hatley. did you ever do some sort of survey on facebook that might have asked for some detail that could let a crooked person get into your bank account?

Hi my friend Hatley, My Lot is my favorite Internet site and I use it every day that I can. I go onto Face Book to communicate with friends a few times a week. I send messages to Face Book friends and comment my friends walls. Last year I visited Canadian family of my brother-in-law and they are on Face Book. I have found a couple of old school friends on Face Book too. It makes me wonder how safe debit cards are. My bank advised me to get and use a credit card. Hug.

Hi maxi, definitely I enjoy facebook. I can contact to my friends and relatives through facebook. It's easy way of communication. It was out of my knowledge that facebook deduct money for it's service. Only I have to pay some money to the internet server. How can facebook know bank details? It is only possible if someone inform this to facebook.

Hi Bhanusb. Thanks my friend. I haven't ever given Face Book my debit card details. Only Pay Pal would know them. That is why I am so surprised and shocked.

I'm not sure why facebook would require my bank accout details, but that's one information that I am most careful about. I don't put it on FB. Facebook is just for reconnecting with old friends for me. Maybe a picture shared with family half way around the world, but no sensitive information.

People use cash when they play games on Facebook. Do you play games? Facebook cannot get your banking information because they don't ask for it initially, unless you play online games. Even if you do play online games, it's the companies who own the games who ask for this and not Facebook. UNLESS what you got in the mail is a smear campaign trying to stir unnecessary fear among the public. The thing about Facebook is that it's great when you're careful. I've had a lot of people leave early for work saying they aren't feeling well then they post on Facebook that they're heading to a party. Games can be addicting (obviously) on Facebook as well. I was just wondering if you play online games on Facebook. That's probably why. If you're not playing games, then your account must have been hacked into. I suggest taking a look at your settings carefully. Facebook is great. I like it because it's the only way, other than email, that I can connect with friends and family back home. I don't use it on anything else. People take Facebook for granted, thinking that nothing about what they post or what they put in or not paying attention to settings. Also, most of the people who have problems with Facebook are careless. If you don't play online games on Facebook, your account probably got hacked into. It's pretty easy to be careful about that: all you got to do is sign out properly.

The only reason that I use Facebook is because of the ease of access to your friends and family. It's especially helpful during the summer, or other times where you don't come in contact with your friends that often. Facebook has been involved in a few cases of privacy and whatnot. They once changed privacy settings without letting any one know and many peoples information got leaked here and there. I think what happened in your case might just have been a little accident? At least you got your money back, thank goodness.

I have never heard of such a thing. who know's what kind of hackers or whatever is going on. I guess you can be thankful it was returned and credited to your account. Perhaps it was also a bank error when they set up auto withdrawls on their end they could of applied it to the wrong account? I used to deal with those many moons ago.

That's a very serious Facebook incident. I think you should verify first if the transaction got listed through your Paypal account. If so, you have to email or send Paypal support a letter regarding happened to you including the details of your credit card bill so they can look into it as well. I'm sure they can verify to you if it really is from FB or something else. Maybe it's time to replace your Facebook email as well, just a healthy precaution, if it's the same as your Paypal email.
