side of the house where I couldn't see it! I knew I had a delivery coming today by watching the tracking number...so I waited...waited for the doorbell to ring to announce it was here....went out and checked on the back door....no package....checked by the front door on the steps...no package. An hour later I go check and the package has been thrown on the side of my house...I could see something laying there....so I went out and sure enough there it was!!!! My front porch is big.....I have nice sized steps in the back....so...why was it thrown to the side? Have you ever had a delivery you waited for just to find the package in a very remote or hidden spot? I don't get it.....I paid good bucks for what I had shipped. You would think they would take enough pride in themselves to actually hit the front porch or back steps....! Rant!!!! Thanks for listening.

There was a time I waited for a parcel to be delivered but the clever postman just slipped a card saying he tried to deliver the package but I wasn't in. I guess he didn't want to have to carry the package to me and would rather I go to the post office to collect it myself. So he delivered the card instead of the parcel.

Oh that was lazy of the delivery driver and risky as tossing it over like that for others to see it could have had it taken. I have had lazy delivery guys cause me to sit the whole darn day and not a ring at my door. To then go to my door later in the evening and only find a slip on the door. I guess the delivery driver did not feel like bringing the package to the door. Which made no sense as it was not very big. There was no way he came to my door bell as I sat in my front room for hours on end with no one ringing the bell.

I think you should complain to the delivery service. Don't know that you'll ever get a reasonable explanation but it's worth a try. At least it might make you feel better. Glad you were able to locate the box before you had "weather" in your area and the box could have been potentially drenched.

I would complain to the post office or whoever did the delivery, because it you had a better place for your package, then that is where it should be dropped off. My back yard is too far away from the driveway to have any package dropped off there, but my front porch, though doesn't have an overhanging porch, has a bench where they usually place our packages..

I guess what got me is the porch is big...and it would have been much better for it to be off the ground....Just made me a bit upset!

Well like I said,I would say something, then next time the delivery guy or gal would know to place your package on the front porch.

How amazingly stupid of the person who did the delivery? Where exactly was their head? I hope that you complained so that it will not happen again. No this has not happened to me. Many things have happened but nothing like this. It reminds me of a true story that happened in the U.K. about ten years ago. It took over 30 years for a parcel to be delivered to a particular house and the recipient still lived there but was a little shaky due to age. Evidently it was some kind of antique vase that was now worth even more money. The poor old man in his excitement dropped it and it shattered. Things like that just shouldn't happen but they do forgive me - my humour is sometimes weird.

I know exactly what you mean. I order stuff all of the time so the delivery guys know exactly which door to bring my packages to. Alot of times I am watching for them at the door so they already know, however, sometimes a new driver comes and they will leave my packages somewhere other than where I usually get them. I have to go looking for them also.

I would be fuming!!! I live in an apartment and have a note on my mailbox NOT to leave any packages if I'm not home. I am usually always home but the last time no one rang the doorbell and I had to go to the post office to pick this up. I was sooooo mad because I WAS home. They are in such a hurry to get their stuff done they don't care about nothing and that makes me madder than anything. They get paid GOOD money for this and give out bad service. Not all, but alot of them. I would do as most of the responses said and call and make a big complaint on this. That is extremely poor service! He/she was just too lazy to go a few more steps to your porch and ring the bell or knock...ugh! I'm just as angry as you are reading this, lol! I order from Ebay all the time and get really nervous when I know there's a shipment coming, and as you said, you pay good money for this stuff and so do I. I'm glad for you it wasn't taken or a big rain storm hit.

I would be calling and complaining. I am sure you are not the only one this driver has done something dumb like this to. My sister had a problem for the longest time with the UPS guy sticking a tag on her door saying no one was there to get the package when she was home and no one knocked or rang the bell.

What a pain! My packages are usually put right on my front porch so I've never had that problem.. but there's no where else here to put a package. It doesn't make sense not to put it on your front porch! Did you call to complain?

Why not file a complaint to the courier company, in that way they could improve it better. I have not had such experience, the courier companies here are doing a good job.

I've had my eletricity bill delivered wet when it's not raining. I've always wondered where it fell before it reached my mailbox. Regarding your package, maybe the delivery boy got scared of stepping on your front porch or something. Some houses give me the impression that there will be a huge dog that will come out of the door.

jillhill ..how frustrsating..but maybe they thought the side would be safer..on the front porch someone could steal it? ...just a guess. LOL I remember one house we lived in that was fairly isolated ...we had a package left on the front porch but we always used the side door leading in from the garage. I didn't expect the packahge so it was about a week before I found it...I went to sweep and there it was...

I've had many packages delivered without a courteousy knock. I have had very expensive items delivered to my apartment when I was gone and left out in very plain site when it could have been taken to the managers office instead. I would have much preferred that. I am lucky that I have never had one of these items stolen ( knock on wood). I have also had packages delivered to the office without any form of notice telling me where to get my package. It is very frustrating and I really wish there was some way to improve this system to everyone know where to find the package and can be kept informed. I guess the only good part is that you aren't alone in your frustration. Millions of people feel the exact same way =)

Who was the delivery Company? I've had the USPS just drop it on my front porch without a knock or anything. I get dads meds delivered by a courier and they always knock. UPS knocks and leaves right away unless a signature is needed. I have had good experiences with various delivery companies. Not once was a package left anywhere other than my porch, between my doors, or mailbox.I would persoanlly call the company and file a complaint as that's very bad business. Yes it is I, Grandpa Bob! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

You're welcome, Jill. I can't think of an excuse for that delivery man. But it's a little suspicious. Maybe someone was hoping you won't see your package and then they would pick it up themselves when you couldn't find it? Or maybe the delivery man just didn't know where your front or back door was? ^^

I think I've got a story that will top that. A couple of years back I bought a large wholesale order of books. The publisher at that time was trying to cut costs by using FedEx rather than UPS. It was an important shipment and I was impatient. It was also our rainy season. We live on a large property with a long driveway from the main highway to the house. I put a pictrure there so you can visualize it. after you go through the gate and curve around up the hill, the first building is where the UPS man knows to leave my deliveries. The there is another small shed of no importance, then the pumphouse, and then the house. Opposite the house on the other side of the driveway is my neighbors mobile home. So there are lots of wrong places for a delivery to be put. Our house is not easy to find and it's in a rural area. Our UPS man is well trained. But in those days, you never had the same FedEx driver two times in a row. So you couldn't train them. You could leave notes everywhere and ask shippers to put notes on the packages about where to deliver. So that was the state of things when I was expecting this order to come. I waited anxiously each day, and searched the front of all the outbuildings, the porch of the mobile home, even behind the gate, where one FedEx driver had left a shipment in rain covered only with a thin plastic bag once before. It was lucky my husband drove by and saw it. I finally called the company and they told me the packages had been delivered to my door. I was furious. It had not been delivered anywhere near my door. I was also told that since it had been scanned as delivered, the insurance would not replace it. So, I called FedEx and read them the riot act. The next day, this guy delivers my packages and says he thought he'd delivered them to my door. Later I read that some FexEx guy had dumped a whole bunch of packages he didn't feel like delivering somewhere and just left them them. I was thinking I could guess which guy that might have been. At least I got the shipment. And I also called the publisher and told them what happened and that's why I want UPS delivery -- not Fed Ex. These days Fed Ex is getting better. But they used to not deliver unless they had something else to deliver in my area because I am out of the way, and that did delay my packages.

Our Front Gate - This is our front gate. The driveway curves around and goes up a hill to the buildings.
My photo disappeared when I posted. It was uploaded and here and poof! It was gone. Let me try again.
