About Best response

I was just going through my unresolved discussions and noticed how hard it is to decide best response. this takes a while as I really go through everyones responses. Just to make sure Im not over looking some great resonse. Only problem is, when theirs 2 or 3 or more people in the same response. If you give a best response, does it mark all the comments in that section as best responders? Diane should likely know this answer. Since she has said we should comment several times in a discussion. Does anyone know?

Is that me? I'm Diana If there are several comments in the box, the Best Response will go to the person who started the box and left the response. The others are comments and the 'award' will not go to them. There are no earnings attached to the Best Response. All we get if we receive it are Boasting Rights and a warm fuzzy feeling p.s. It wasn't me that said we should comment several times. MyLot told us to do that because that is what makes a discussion.

hi darling diana. yes you. sorry i spelled the name wrong and it took a while for me to get back to you. well, yes i know the origin of the idea is from administration. but i meant you brought it up. anyway, glad to hear about its the first resonder in the box. thats exactly what i wondered. thanks. that helps me a lot on decisions. cause i do love giving the "bragging rights" to the right person. yes i know it doesnt make money, but i like getting and giving them anyway. if i was just here for the money, i wouldnt be. wait a minute, that dont make sense. hope you know what i mean. thats cute orson. yes it took me a minute to recognise the song. loved it

I think is goes to the first responder. Rule of thumb (I guess) is to put your best foot forward for first answer, then make a lot of comments. I agree it's hard to pick the best, and for that reason I don't really like that feature. Good answers deserve a reply, and that should be enough.

Please don't be discouraged from making discussions,Bunnybon. Discussions like this answer not only your question but many others who may not have the answer. We love your discussions so don't stop!!!

"Good answers deserve a reply, and that should be enough." But comments added to a response that further the topic make a discussion. The more there are the more the topic becomes a discussion surely?

well Catdla, i guess i should have just asked you privately. as you know what im trying to say here. guess im one not allowed to make discussions about mylot that everyone should already know the answer to, even if i dont know the answer. Thers the "brain surgery" comment again Hatley and i will admit i cant do brain surgery. but im not stupid either. i just asked a question in a discussion about mylot and some people constantly make discussions about mylot and get lots of responses and no one seems to care. sorry. guess i will not make any more discussions about mylot questions. will that be better for you?

When there are 2 or 3 responses in the same paragraph, if you give someone the Best Response it goes to the first person who responded, and not to any of the others who you might have felt gave a better answer. I know this does sometimes make it even harder to choose, and sometimes not fair, but this is the way that they have worked it.

I think it is the main response that starts the thread that gets the BR. All the ones under the main one can't get BRs. I've been here for over 5 years (counting my other account of Oreo) and that is the way it's always been. I've gotten a lot of BRs and I've also been a responder under a person who got a BR. No one else under the person who gets the BR gets one... I never did.

I guess you've been here longer than I do and surely, you've had previous experiences about these things. I just hover over some discussions and I learned that when we pick someone to be the best response in our topic, it doesn't mean that those who made the comments as also best responders. It is just a comment on the response and no one is given a best comment award as far as I know. Have a great and wonderful day ahead.

I always looked at it as the first person in the box is the response, and everything else is a comment on a response. I may be wrong. There are times when I wish I could give best response to a comment. I am very naughty and hardly ever do my best responses anymore.

You are right. It will spend you some time reviewing the responses again and then decide which one is the best. Usually in my discussions not many Mylotters responded to the same response. But if it did happen and I also chose it as the best response. I am not sure whether all of the Mylotters responded to it are marked the best. But I think the first one is the best rather than others. I love China

Oh I so hate this part of Mylot more than anything. I spend so much time trying to decide because truthfully on most of my discussions, there are several that could be a "best response" I procrastinate terribly on awarding one. I feel like an American Idol judge narrowing them all down. I do have a tendency to when there is is more than one, I'll go for the new person. Since all that BR does is give you that warm fuzzy feel, I think of it as a "welcome aboard" to someone new here. It's not just because they are new but because they are new and really giving good responses. I know...I talk in circles. sorry.
@sid556 (30960)

I didn't even answer your question. Regardless of how many responses there are under a particular response, the BR goes to the person who originally started the comment box. Also if a person makes a great response under someone else's response, I will go to that person's response and still leave a BR because it's about who added the most to the discussion. Oh and don't let the sarcastic comments of others stop you from making discussions please. I and many others enjoy your discussions. This one in particular is more than likely answering a question that many have so you are also helping out.

no you dont. i know just what you mean and yes, thats really kind of you to give encouragment. i like best response and know it doesnt pay, but its not what im here for. but again, i probably will refrain from making discussions for a while, as not only do i not make pay out here often but i dont need the extra stress of some makeing snide comments like on a previous response to this discussion. i can see now why some leave. i guess they get ran out by others. dont know if i will go that far but not makeing a lot of discussions from here. any more. hugs, bon

I would think that the first person responding is the one who would get the best response. I have so so many to do. I have people responding when they come onto my friend's list so I am sometimes sorry I did the best response alread. I am not in any hurry to do them.

jazel, you are right. but i like the best response thing as i enjoy it when i know ive done a good job and you are right, so many people are deserving. yes, sishy and ive worried about missing one also. another good reason for me to go back and check by reading clear through. I sure hope i havent missed any so far. but i still have some unresolved to go through and yes, ive been skipped like that a few times. id say ask in a discussion but you might get your feelings hurt like me over someone practicly thinking its a mute or dumb one like this one happened with me. not meaning you. if you read some other responses or comments here though, whatever they are calling them, you will see what i mean. i dont think its a dumb question but maybe 1 other person will. yes i know what you mean though and i dont have an answer for that. maybe ask the person that does it to you. hope it wasnt me missing a comment

Sorry for taking this topic to the side a bit. I've seen discussion starters who comment on every single responses but skip one. Won't you say that'd make the one responder wonder what could've been the reason?

Rest assured it wasn't you... Although I still think it does not seem right to single out a comment, I'll just let it be and assume that it's simply an innocent overlook with no malice intended. Btw, I like your topic here; I think it relates to many users thus the discussions are helpful. I wouldn't worry too much on the discouraging responses/comments. Those make discussions even more interesting...

I honestly have to say that the majority of the discussions that I've started are unresolved as of now. The reason that I choose to leave them as open discussions is because of the fact that it is quite difficult for me to make a decision of just one of the responses in a discussion as being superior to all of the other responses. In addition to that, there is no earnings associated with best responses, so I don't think that it is really something that is necessary.

To my knowledge, it only marks the person that you chose as the best response. As a matter of fact, under your discussion it will tell you who you have given the best response to. That way you know who it is and everyone knows who it is. I know it's a daunting task to do that. I still have some unresolved discussions that I need to get to and mark some best responses. The real question should be how long do you wait, or how long would be a good time frame before you give a best response to your discussion. I try and let a good amount of time pass by before I do that.

thanks. see thats what i mean. anyway, guess i should have known the answer and not made this discussion as it was obviously dumb/ i usually wait till i have about 2 pages of unresolved, then read over and mark the older ones first. since i dont usually make a ton of them, its about a month or so back. i likely will not be makeing much more anyway. as im not here for the money because i dont make but about 10 bucks every 2 weeks. ive been here for the friendship and enjoyment. but 1 or 2 have stated how this discussion is not so smart. i dont need more stress in my life.

It is hard to choose the best response. Many posts are very good in my discussions. But I can only choose one. And usually I will wait until the discussion is more then three month, then i will choose the best response, for if i choose one, other people may not make comments in my discussion. When I was a new myloter, i gave the best response to my friends, in most cases, their posts may be not the best one. Now I try to do things more fair.

Hi bunny, really it is hard to choose best response. So I left many responses unresolved. I noticed some of our friends after getting three or four responses decide best response. I think it is not fair. Who starts discussion he or she should wait for more response before marking BR.

Here is what I do - I love to read back all the responses so I dont have an issue with that. What I have on my mind is - when there are a few who are quite good, I decide on my whims and heart. And on some occasions, I do cheat - I take liberty to mark anyone who gave me a great interaction or even anyone who suites my fancy that time

Hi No.. It will only goes to box starter. Not to all the users who have commented on that box.. If you like particular comment from that box then you can find out the box of that user and can choose as BR.
