There is no plausible explanation of how the literary agency came to believe Obama was born in Kenya, other than that Obama told that to his agency. They could not make a mistake "fact checking" without an initial fact to check. Only Obama could have supplied such information. So, either he's a liar, or he's not an American born citizen and therefore ineligible. In a pretty liberal judiciary and political climate to see STATES agreeing to the birther contention, that Obama has NOT been properly vetted, is noteworthy. And then the guy who promises to vet him properly, drops dead of a heart atttck. Let's discuss it all...shall we?

Get over it already. How many times does the guy have to show his long form birth certificate. I cannot believe the right is still on this issue. Obama must be doing a pretty good job if this is how you guys on the right are going continue to try to discredit him as a President. Did any ever stop to think that this is why are country is always in debt? We have our politicians wasting time and money on this nonsense. Lets get real people we have more important things to worry about. If Obama was not properly vetted. It would of been just like Sarah Palin ended in disaster.

Crossbones, it doesn't matter if he was born in Kenya or not, this is not a birther issue. This is another "Obama lied" issue. As far as his character goes, it doesn't matter which is the lie, whether he was born in Kenya or whether he was born in Hawaii. The fact is that in 1991, he was promoting himself as an author born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii. So, why did he lie in 1991? Or, why did he lie in 2008? You can answer either one of those questions depending on which year you think he lied in. You cannot choose that he told the truth in both 1991 and 2008, because he said completely different things and gave different countries as his birthplace.

And our nation isn't in debt because people stand up to their government and demand answers, it's in debt because they don't.

I like the interaction of myLot much better. One, no two thing more to add: WV voted for a felon over Obama, he got a healthy amount of votes, something like 30-40%. You could do both, you know! I can't answer if it's all true, or even what I believe because I know how "facts" can be manipulated on both sides, but I lean toward it being the truth. Things just don't stack up right in his past. How many other president's have had their legal citizenship questioned?

I think Arizona has a good idea requiring candidates to prove eligibility. This should be a law in all states. It's a federal law that you must be a natural born citizen but I don't see anyone trying to make sure it's adhered to. This proves what a dishonest man our president is, how manipulative and totally devoid of ethics. I can't wait to see someone else, anyone, in that office. My dog could do a better job than he has. And that goes for his predecessor, too, for anyone who'd call me partisan.

Deb, we have all heard this before, and we all know that it is nothing but right wing BS. I don't know why people continue to TRY to make this an issue, but no one is listening. If you really think that all of the "facts" you have are true, than why hasn't Mitt Romney with his VAST fortune investigated all of this, and taken those facts to the public? He would win the race by default. You might want to ask the people that run this BS website this question, and see what they say!!!

Deb, just because it is in a book doesn't mean it is correct. It isn't like you have a tape, or proof that Obama is from Kenya. "Why won't Romney say anything? Obama's was willful deceit, either to sell books or to become President. Bush's WMDs was based on information from intelligent agencies. Yet Obama gets a pass and Bush is a liar who is responsible for everything bad that's ever or will ever happen to this country. Manipulation by propaganda. As I learn more and more about our recent history here in America, I'm seeing a whole lot of this psychological manipulation by propaganda. To be fair, it is NOT just Obama that has used this tactic to move large amounts of people in the direction wanted. FDR did it, heck, even the 'good' guys have done it. What is creepy though, is people who normally would not be effected by the hype are falling for it now a days. That concerns me greatly. I've caught myself in all fairness, thinking...ah, he's not so bad. There are times that I almost feel sorry for him too. Is that just my compassionate, caring, side poking through? I don't know, cause with it comes a desire to also just stop researching or reading or thinking about the horrible mess this countries in, who put us here, how do we get out etc....and sink into peaceful oblivion like 50% of the country has. YOu know, like that froggy in the pot about to boil? And then I shake it off and get back to work.

The point is, it was up for 16-17 years. Changed numerous times according the WayBackMachine (great thing technology, harder to LIE) And never once UNTIL he began his campaign, did anyone, ANYONE bother to fix it. Either it was a lie then to gain from being 'exotic' or it is a lie now. And of course they blah blah blah blah deny it was written by Obama. That poor woman probably never made an editing error in her life, but now has to 'fess' up or suffer the narcissist rage of Obama. Go on and say what you like, the house of cards he has built is falling fast. I really could care less if you believe it or not.

I'm not going to get into this topic too deeply, Deb, since I think you and I each know how the other feels about it and I really don't want to "argue". However, there are a few things I feel compelled to say. Regarding that pamphlet that contained the item about President Obama having been born in Kenya, that has been explained to my satisfaction. There are always lots of inaccuracies written about people in the public eye; sometimes they're brought to our attention, sometimes they're not. The agency clearly stated she was never told by Obama that he was born in Kenya...end of story, to me at least. As far as all the records the President hasn't released, come on...KINDERGARTEN records? His parents' marriage license? Gee, why not his first visit by the tooth fairy...just sayin'... It's a simple matter of opinion, I know, which we are ALL entitled to, but I don't lend much credibility to Joe Arpaio, Jerome Corsi or some of the others who have kept this "birther" controversy alive. Sorry, I just don't. It's noteworthy, though, that the Arizona Secretary of State has apologized "for embarrassing his state" and has stated that President Obama will be on the ballot in November. It's been reported that the state of Hawaii has supplied the information he'd asked for. Yes, MSNBC has been reporting on all of this, quite extensively. Annie

Seriously, we just might be hearing about them on election night since President Obama might have a shot at winning there. I wanted to add what I forgot to include in my original response; as far as I'm concerned, not only President Obama but also McCain, Romney and Rubio are AMERICANS and nobody should waste any time trying to "prove" they're ineligible for office. I sure wouldn't want any of the latter three anywhere near the White House based solely on the issues, but I would never attack their eligibility or their patriotism to keep them away. Annie

How many lies does someone have to tell before you no longer believe that individual? President Obama has hit his mark a long time ago. Yes, all President's lie to some extent. But this has been consistence with his entire administration. Every so-called "promise" has been a complete law followed by blatant blame passing. It is like the guy can't even take responsibility for a single word that comes out of his mouth. Unfortunately, some people just believe the lies even when confronted with evidence that they are lies.

Debra, What everyone seems to ignore is the amount of money BHO has spent to defuse this situation and unsuccessfully I might add. He has spent in the millions of dollars to keep all of these things from public scrutiny. My philosophy is--if there isn't anything to hide, why hide it. I've always maintained that while his eligibility may or may not be an issue, there is definitely SOMETHING Obama doesn't want the American public to know and I believe if they ever gain this knowledge his credibility will be completely demolished.

Debra, sometimes I don't know what or whom to believe. Since the last presidential campaign I've been convinced Obama was a marxist ready to put in place when the time was considered right. His campaign was unlike that of any other president in its almost worship of the candidate. For what other candidate in US history have we seen children chanting in public schools? This is the kind of thing we saw in the time of Hitler and Stalin when children had to be indoctrinated as to the virtues of their leaders. Long ago, after 911, I was also of the belief that the terrorists would grow an Islamic jihadist leader within the United States, someone born here. (And please, I'm not saying Obama is a Muslim. I'm not so sure he's a Christian, either. Rather, I think he's a Marxist that will say and do anything to bring about his agenda. I think the American People simply aren't paying attention to the qualifications and records of their candidates -- whether on the nation, state, or local level. Most are frustrated as I am, because they have no solid way of knowing whose facts are true. The average citizen does not have the time or resources himself to vet all these people on every level he has to vote for, so he has to decide whom to believe, which news sources, which blogs, which books, etc. How many people pay attention to the judicial candidates on their ballots, for example? Many people just vote for the incubant or the first name on the ballot for these "nonpartisan" positions. Same with school board candidates and county board of supervisors. Yet these people often have more real power over the quality of your life than the President. They determine the regulations that will limit your ability to do business and when you can use your utilities. We often deserve the government we get. As to Romney, he was definitely not my first choice. But if I have to choose between a Mormon and a Marxist, I'll choose the Mormon. AS to his citizenship, is anyone seriously questioning that he was born in the United States? Article XIV of the Constitution says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the states in which they reside. Since Romney wasn't naturalized here, he would be a citizen by birth as far as I am concerned. I think it's a pretty far stretch to say he's not under the jurisdiction of the US at birth just because his father was not a natural born citizen, if Mitt was born here. Every person born of illegal immigrants in this country is considered a citizen, even though many call them anchor babies and say the 14th Amendment shouldn't apply to them because their parent's aren't under our jurisdiction. What we might think ought to be and what is are often too different animals. Here's what I know about Mormons that makes me prefer them to Marxists. First I believe Mormons do love this country and the freedom to practice their religion that they have here. I know they believe in the family and are generally pro-life. I can't imagine a Mormon seriously considering forced birth control or abortion anymore than I can envision the Catholic church supporting these things. Mormons work hard, are industrious, and believe in self-sufficiency and taking responsibility for caring for one's family. They share many values with Catholic and Evangelical Christians -- it's their theology that separates them more than their values do. Marxists, on the other hand, depend on propaganda and lies to further their agendas. They have no love for this country, but they love power. They say they are for the little guy, but if you look at the countries they have controlled, you will see the politicians in charge living high on the hog while the little guys starve. Marxist rely on the sword to convince when words won't. They have no qualms about using fraud in elections or intimidating voters. They will destroy their political enemies when they get power -- either using the IRS or something resembling the KGB -- what ever they have access to and can control. Is this the choice I wanted? No. I find myself having to pick the lesser of two evils again. But that will not make me sit out what may be the most important election in our history.

And I owe a short little fat nun for my love of American history or I wouldn't know what I know. lol And it is so good to hear someone express the same feeling of unreality over the 2008 elections. I can remember when the Rev. Wright thing broke, I thought, ok...he's done. He'll never get past this. But he did. And then this primary season, Herman Cain...struck down by the hint of being with a white woman? Shades of jim crow. It couldn't be about 'adultery' because the left LOVES Billy boy and he committed adultry in the Oval Office for crying out loud! No, Obama was given a free pass on every scandal that would have undone any Republican. OR past Democrats for that matter. Romney wasn't my first choice either.
