Unique way to idetify quads

I imagine when you have multiple kids of the same gender and their all identical and not fraternal it can be difficult to know who's who I imagine but I don't know about doing this though to my child. I'd prefer some sort of band system. Do you think there's a better way to identify identical children rather than cutting their hair into a number? http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2012/09/quadruplets-idd-by-numbers-shaved-onto-heads/

That is pretty funny, but I definitely have to say that I would never do something like that to my child. Now I have personally never had multiples, but one of my oldest friends has six children total and the two youngest girls are identical twins. I met them for the first time during the summer when they were just three years old, and I couldn't tell them apart at first. However, as soon as their mother pointed out one of their main personality differences, I don't think that I will ever confuse Kate and Claire again.

I really don't know, I think some people dress the children in different colours. And I heard that a mother can instinctively tell the children a part. There personalities can be a little different, one might smile more or less than the others and so on.

There might be a better way, but honestly, maybe this mom or dad just thought it would be a bit fun. And I can understand not being able to tell babies apart. Not all babies' personalities shine through right from birth, sometimes it's a few months before they do much other than eat, sleep, cry, and fill their diaper. Besides, what if one of the babies needs extra medical attention? I'd like a clear, easy way for anyone to tell which baby was which even if they are swaddled.

I think parents still know any ID 's in each child. Maybe she has to do it for others, I saw that they are in school and maybe mom has to do it for their friends and teachers.

That I don't think is a very good idea. I do know someone with quads. They have three girls and one boy. the girls are identified by a different type of nail polish on their big toes! LOL...yup. You know who they are by checking their big toe! I thought is was a unique idea.

Even identical twins are not completely identical and parents do recognize them. There is always a "leader" and "follower" so behaviour is different as well. You just need to have an eye for it. Don't think I would ever cut a number in the hair of my kids so the teacher (or other people) could recognize them. There are other ways too. For example different clothes or colour of clothes or different schools so they are all able to develop themselves.

Hmmm.. I'm on the fence on this one. My first thought was that a mom can always tell her children apart, no matter what. I've known lots of sets of identical twins, but they were always identifiable. The closest in resemblence was a set I went to school with. It took me awhile because they were so identical, but eventually I learned to tell them apart based on the way they dressed and did their hair. One was slightly more fashionable while the other was sort of laid back with just jeans and t-shirt and always had her hair in a pony tail. On the other hand, I imagine that at birth the children can be hard to tell apart for awhile, until they get a bit older and have their own personalities or minor differences. I agree there are better ways of telling them apart, such as a certain color outfit or maybe even bracelets on their ankles or something. But then I was thinking what happens when you bathe them and they're not wearing their identifiable clothing? I guess we truly wouldn't understand unless we were in that situation ourselves. Do you remember that episode of Full House where Jesse mixed up his own set of twins and in the end they needed to retake the kids' foot prints to tell them apart?

Parents know the difference between their children whether they are 2 or 8 in a birth. It is a natural instinct. Some parents may tattoo a very tiny letter on the bottom of the heel of one foot to match the initial of their first name. Others may pierce their daughters ears and put different color stud earrings in them to identify who is who. Another way is to purchase the same clothes but a different color for each child. Those are a few ideas that you can use.
